What was the deal with them asking for hardcore fans to DM them for something? I never remembered to but was curious what it was about.

What was the deal with them asking for hardcore fans to DM them for something? I never remembered to but was curious what it was about. Theyre asking for super fans' help promoting local shows when they come on tour - also said fans will get early knowledge of new music. Considering the tour starts in April, I think we might get a new song or two in March once the album is finished. Don't know if the tour will be promoting the album or before the new album though

I am seeing them in May (I put that in the concert thread). This will be the first time I am seeing them live.
For what it's worth, VIP (which is an addition to the ticket price) sold out within days in a few cities.

Awww, out of all the songs they released post After It All, I was really hoping “Do You Ever Dream?” would make the new album.

I understand what you’re saying, as it is honestly one of their rawest, most beautiful songs to me, but would I rather a song that would otherwise be unreleased? For sure. We already have DYED, so we can just tack it on afterwards :)

they've posted many snippets on instagram the past month or so. at least 3 brand new songs that they haven't played before. they're teasing a "Lot" of new music to. someone suggested they have enough songs for a double album, to which they replied: "funny you mention that".
sounds like there are lots of stringed instruments, some brass, and a choir on a few songs.
Take Me There (song) sounds amazing, too

"Heart Won't Break," out this week, was the first of seven weeks in a row with a new song: 4/19: “Heart Won’t Break” | Written by Eric Hölljes, Ian Hölljes, Alex Wong 4/26: “One Good Cry” | Written by Eric Hölljes, Jessi Alexander, Brett James 5/3: “You Can Tell Him” | Written by Eric Hölljes, Ian Hölljes 5/10: “Hitch A Ride” | Written by Eric Hölljes, Ian Hölljes 5/17: “No Dry Eye In The Chapel” | Written by Eric Hölljes, Ian Hölljes, Tia Sillers 5/24: “Walk With Me” | Written by Orianthi Panagaris, Richie Sambora 5/31: “If I Loved You” | Written by Ian Hölljes (via)Kind of feels to me like they're burning off the songs they've been doing live before working toward an album of newer material. (Why are we getting "If I Loved You" again, though?? And where is "Take Me There" if that's the name of the tour?)

Ah was literally coming to post this list lol here's the article: countrymusictattletale.com/2019/04/20/delta-rae-rolls-out-new-tunes-as-the-seasons-turn/Agreed, seems like this could be promotion leading up to the album release - which will exclude probably these 7 or the other 7 post-After It All. There's no way they're not releasing Wrong Ocean or Take Me There. I'm also praying Pay No Rent and Only In America find their way on an album too. We also know they recorded other songs, so I think this strategy is probably what's going on - yeah? Wish they weren't being so secretive

Edited the list to remove songs we're getting over the next few weeks. Obviously Take Me There and The Wrong Ocean will be on the album - but also really hoping for Only In America & Pay No Rent - in addition to NEW new songs, of course. I could do without Sewn Up and Never Coming Back, personally.

Announced today: two new albums coming in 2020, The Light (scheduled for March 20) and The Dark (soon after). They also apparently managed to keep some if not all of their unreleased material, because the former album will include "The Wrong Ocean" and "Any Better Than This." A Kickstarter campaign will come next Monday, because perhaps just as importantly: they're independent again! A copy of the email they sent out: www.lyricmagazine.co.uk/lyricshowcases-delta-raes-new-album-announcement-kickstarter-campaign/

Yes!
I’ve been wondering why after 2 EPs and then those series of singles why their (former) label hadn’t announced any plans for another full length album.
I’m excited to see they’ve got control and for two new albums.

I'm super excited for the dual album release and - more importantly - that they're independent again. they've had a super interesting career with these different labels and movements around being independent on Kickstarter then signed then independent then signed then back to Kickstarter. They know their core fan base was not stoked about the shift to country, and though it made some sense at the time, in retrospect it makes no sense and I think they tried too hard to pretend it was a "logical" choice and "they started out as a country band." Just a super interesting time for them, and I can't wait to hear them talk about the past few years in the future.
All that said, I still LOVE the 12 songs they got out under their label; not super unique, but still all quality songs (and probably my two favorite DR songs ever, Do You Ever Dream and Hitch A Ride). But now they're back-in-action in true unique Delta Rae spirit. I can't wait.
BUT I cannot believe there's a 9 month wait now. I really thought the announcement was going to be for a summer album, not a spring album THE NEXT YEAR. This wait will be insane. I'm also not in love with a dual release split by tone (Light/Dark). A few of their songs can easily be divided, but a central theme throughout their music (to me) is finding the light in dark and the dark in light. Songs like Dance In The Graveyards or Hands Dirty, I guess - they can't be separated into Light or Dark because there're elements of both to them.
But since that IS the division . . . I can picture The Wrong Ocean, Take Me There, Only In America, and Any Better Than This being on "The Light" and Badlands and Pay No Rent will probably be on "The Dark." Really hope Never Coming back and Sewn Up (per the OP) don't get released, as they're weak songs in current state. There's also No One Will Miss Me and If I'd Known I Loved Her - though I can't figure out which they'd be on.

Goal was $30k to make The Light, $60k to make The Light & The Dark. Already at $75k after just two hours, with 59 more days to go. This means we'll get more music videos, among other things.

Over $125k now. I'm gobsmacked. Looks like they got a nice boost with the Taylor Swift / Big Machine news, because their announcement that they were leaving Big Machine spurred Swifties to support and share it, but my goodness, I can't imagine they were expecting this!

Totally. Even if they didn't love their time with Valory - Alex Wong, the guy producing TL/TD, literally called it a "four year purgatory" - they have to appreciate the following boost they got from it, because I don't think this crazy overperformance would've happened without it.

The Kickstarter campaign wrapped today with $451,457 pledged (1504% of their goal, and with every stretch goal met), making it the fifth most funded music project in Kickstarter history.
Wow wow wow.

^^^ Incredible.
March canNOT come fast enough. I can't believe we will finally get to hear Any Better Than This and The Wrong Ocean in studio quality. In fact, it will have been 5 YEARS since the last song a man (Eric or Ian) fronted, since it's been female-fronted (Liz or Brittany) since their second album, After It All.
Stoked.

Two confirmed track titles ( via press release): "Back To The Garden – The Empress" and "Stronger Than A Lion – Strength." Unclear if the major arcana Tarot cards are part of the actual song titles or just indicated next to them, but the whole album is inspired by them, apparently.

Unclear if the major arcana Tarot cards are part of the actual song titles or just indicated next to them, but the whole album is inspired by them, apparently. Thanks for posting. The tarot cards are not part of the song titles; rather, they're just there to indicate which song represents them. The band posted a picture a month back of 12 tarot cards facing downwards. I am guessing there will be 12 tracks on the album, one per Tarot card. That said, the Major Arcana has 22 total; so my theory is that The Light will have 12 tracks and The Dark will have 10 - to total 22 songs or cards in the Arcana. So far, from The Light, we have 10 tracks: 01 Any Better Than This 02 Back To The Garden 03 Burning In Carolina 04 From One Woman To Another 05 No One Will Miss Me 06 Only In America 07 Soft Place To Land 08 Stronger Than A Lion 09 Take Me There 10 The Wrong Ocean 11 (Note: not in tracklist order)

Your theory is holding up so far, rdmp57! All your tracks match up to the tracklist, too – I just can't tell what the other two are: 1. Burning In Carolina 2. Take Me There 3. Any Better Than This 4. Stronger Than A Lion 5. No One Will Miss Me 6. Back To The Garden 7. Only In America 8. From One Woman To Another 9. 10. 11. Soft Place To Land 12. The Wrong Ocean

The Wrong Ocean Yes, I interpreted the blurry lines the same as you for 1-8 and 11-12; just can't tell what 9-10 are LOL I don't believe any of the songs they released during their time on BMR are on the record; I don't even think they CAN be, as they might not have the legal rights to them anymore. I've gone through other recordings in my master list at the top and nothing seems to fit those 9-10 either, so I do think these will truly be entirely new songs, as well - which is SUPER exciting.

FOWTA is so, so good. I think I still prefer TMT, as it is so fun and dancey, but I think FOWTA is objectively better.
One song each week until release: 2/14: From One Woman To Another 2/21: Only In America 2/28: Back To The Garden 3/06: Stronger Than A Lion 3/13: No One Will Miss Me 3/20: The Light (album release)
