The Grammys are American. International acts can win too but it doesn't change that it is American. Lol this sounds so ethnocentric. Music is universal, and the Grammys taking place in American doesnβt change the fact that global artists are awarded at the show. This isnβt like the VMAs where each country has its own version of it. this is not my opinion; it's just a fact. NARAS is an American body and their awards are an American award. It doesn't mean only Americans can win. The Oscars are also an American award. Other countries have their own. Juno , BRIT, Bambi etc

Vampire Weekend didn't perform this year despite an AOTY nom (and an Alternative Album win).

I think performance by Lana could've been a showstopper: Imagine Norman f**king Rockwell with a big orchestra and dramatic visuals. Wonder why she didn't perform. Probably the same reason Lorde didn't perform when she was nominated for AOTY. The Grammys didn't let them...

Lorde was not a victim of sexism or whatever people are saying. She is a pop girl and that year they already had Pink, Lady Gaga, and Kesha who are all much bigger than Lorde. Obviously the producers will go with the bigger names vs the lesser name. Not to mention, the first two are far better performers. They did offer her a slot as a collaboration. Just like they offered SOTY nominee Julia Michaels (also a C list name) a group slot but she accepted. The media/her team made it seem like she was some helpless woman a victim of sexism.

Being nominated for Album of the Year should be a shoo-in for a performance. Period.

I loved how Lizzo won Best Pop Solo Performance against Billie, who won everything else against her!
It was totally possible. I think Billie was a favorite with those producers, engineers, and songwriters in various fields, so she had a huge push in the general field, but Lizzo was favored in pop.
As far as a performance, the rap-singing on "Truth Hurts" >>> whisper talking on "Bad Guy".

They have *much* smaller talent than Lorde do solo performances so... no

Pretty sure they asked Lorde to be a part of a tribute or something that year, and when she declined and requested her own performance spot, they turned her down altogether.
