I think Shallow will rise to #1. kworb has it at 117k sales, it rose to #17 (+7) on Apple Music, fell to #7 on Spotify (1,310,071 streams), AND #3 & #5 on YouTube WW (not sure what its US numbers would be)
It's also #1 on Amazon if that means anything.

The official Shallow video received 1.57m US streams on Sunday, according to: kworb.net/youtube/insights/us_daily.htmlIf that's accurate, based on some calculations, I think both videos will total 12m streams (in the US) by the end of the tracking week.

Are you counting the other uploads of the performance too? I wouldn't count it just because we aren't sure if bb will; they used to look for videos categorized under 'music' so it might depend on how those unofficial uploads are listed, though I doubt they would make a huge difference as the Vevo version is doing numbers

When was the last time a person predominantly known for acting had a #1 song? If Bradley Cooper gets a #1 song.

When was the last time a person predominantly known for acting had a #1 song? If Bradley Cooper gets a #1 song. Michael Damian - Rock On (1989) Will Smith - Gettin' Jiggy Wit It (1998) Jamie Foxx - Gold Digger (2005) Those are the most recent I could find.

When was the last time a person predominantly known for acting had a #1 song? If Bradley Cooper gets a #1 song. Childish Gambino built a notable name in acting before music. Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) is also debatable, especially since her #1 with "Wrecking Ball" was due completely to her anti-Hannah image. Jennifer Lopez built a notable name in acting before music. Will Smith, however, is the last one to be a blockbuster actor before achieving their first #1 I can think of

Is Simm accounting for an increase in airplay (ie. is he using a projected guess at what its total AI will be)? 'Shallow' could still pick up a few million in audience impressions over the next few days, and it all adds up so that helps too.

Murder On My Mind going top 10 after the artist literally killed someone sums up current hip hop music. But of course, I know anyone who has a problem with it is “basic”. *accused of killing someone

Does Can't Stop The Feeling! Count? Happy as well. See You Again Assuming by showtune you mean #1 from a movie. No "showtune" is a term that means a song from a musical. Trolls, Despicable Me 2, and Furious 7 are not musicals. Honestly "showtune" usually is reserved for theater musicals, not film musicals. Even at that A Star is Born is pretty loosely a film musical anyway. I think many people in the theater and film industries wouldn't consider "Shallow" a showtune, but would probably say it's close to being one. The last showtune to be a hit would probably be "This Is Me" from The Greatest Showman, and before that you'd probably have to back quite a bit. A lot of popular showtunes likely never charted on the Hot 100 given how the rules of the Hot 100 would have kept them off the charts for a long time. Yeah I don’t consider “Shallow” a showtune in the way most mean it.

Will Smith, however, is the last one to be a blockbuster actor before achieving their first #1 I can think of Will Smith is a tricky one. He was definitely a blockbuster actor before his first number one single, but he had been a very successful rapper before he started acting ("Parents Just Don't Understand" and "Nightmare On My Street" hit the top 20 two years before 'The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air' premiered). Music helped him get the acting gig. Then the acting made him more famous and took his music career to new heights. But music came first for him.

Didn't Eddie Murphy have a hit after he was an actor? (Not sure if it was a #1.)
And she hasn't had a #1 song but Hailee Steinfeld is a recent example of someone who, like Bradley Cooper, was an Oscar-nominated actor before releasing music.

Tab Hunter was probably the first actor (or one of the first) to score a #01 hit with "Young Love"
Thinking of it, he's must also be the first gay man to score a #01 hit (even though he wasn't openly gay at that time, of course LOL)

Another actor that had some Hot 100 success was Jamie Walters as part of The Heights and How Do You Talk to an Angel and then Hold On in the 1990s.

The problem with the term showtune when it comes to movie-musicals is, for example, whether stuff like jukebox musicals with a few original tracks (e.g. Can't Stop the Feeling, Cups) count. Anyway, I don't usually dabble in mathematical predictions, but I was tempted with a potential #1 race and I must admit, I'm starting to get optimistic we're getting a new leader!

definition: Musical. The musical film is a film genre in which songs sung by the characters are interwoven into the narrative, sometimes accompanied by dancing.

I thought about that because it's the one with the most showtune-y feel to it, but Frozen itself I don't believe is considered a full on musical either (like ASIB). Honestly, I have no clue what makes something a musical or not because it seems fans of musicals are really uptight about what they label "musical" versus "movie with some music in it." 🙍

Gary provided what is the traditional view of a musical. In Frozen the characters do sing ‘dialogue’ so it’s certainly closer to a musical than A Star is Born, where the music is performances. Surely we’re all smart enough to recognize the difference in, say, Chicago and Bohemian Rhapsody.
