I'm not 100% sure 7 rings will give up that #1 on Streaming Songs yet, as it leads Spotify while Murder is at #7, and YouTube is pretty close. Apple Music is also close, while Murder leads, but over on Amazon 7 rings is doing more. It will be close. But yes, I get your point. After three days of Spotify data and two days of YouTube, I have MOMM at 40.3M streams (22.7k streaming points) and 7 rings at 40.2M streams (21.0k). Middle Child and maybe Shallow (if it pulls a Happier) also have a chance to be the streaming #1 this week. Wow the race must have been p close, as Murder ended up as #3 on Streaming, trailing 7 Rings and Middle Child.

Do we know if there's any particular reason the hot 100 isn't out yet?

Wow almost the entire top 10 are classic songs it amazes me how girls just wanna have fun was blocked from number 1 Overall yes. But in context that Jump by Van Halen blocked it makes total sense. Jump was on another level huge compared to Girls Just Want to Have Fun at the time. Now it’s different as Cyndi Laupers classic is bigger than Jump.

I still don't get how Shallow got to No1 with such weak stats.Speaking of Ariana,it seems weird NTLTC couldn't even debut No2,with God's plan being way after its peak.Maybe it has to do with Shallow being higher on the on demand streaming chart.7 rings was higher on both streaming and radio and by a considerable margin for 100,000 sales to be enough.Anyways, congrats to Gaga for her 4th leader! NTLTC's first week was stronger than Shallow this week. Well, last month Happier and BUWYGIB were stronger than Shallow but 7 rings blocked both songs. That's one of the funniest things about music charts: sometimes you just need the perfect timing. Ikr...I hope billboard releases an article about how close this week was.I believe some weeks ago,7 rings was quite strong for happier or buwygib to overtake. Now it has fell on sales(although top 5)and is a "weak" no1 on streaming. But my point is both streaming and radio count way more than sales.

So how likely is Sucker going to #1 so far? It will be #1 in sales by a decent margin, and #1 in streaming looks likely, too. So, it has a good chance. We need more firm numbers, though.

I tried using the Hot 100 formula I saw before in a prediction thread: sales/6 + airplay/7000 + paid streams/1500 + free streams/2250 + programmed streams/3000 Using some quick estimates: ShallowSales: 115k = 19167 pts Airplay: 34.8 million = 4971 pts Youtube: 12.8 million = 5689 pts Free on-demand streams (est): 1.44 million = 640 pts Paid on-demand streams (est): 12.32 million = 8213 pts Programmed streams: 0.74 million = 247 pts Total points: 38927 pts7 RingsSales: 23k = 3833 pts Airplay: 80.8 million = 11543 pts Youtube: 11.9 million = 5289 pts Free on-demand streams (est): 2.57 million = 1142 pts Paid on-demand streams (est): 21.57 million = 14380 pts Programmed streams: 7.86 million = 2620 pts Total points: 38807 pts And the real sales number is probably a bit higher than 115k, as Billboard always subtract CMA when they report sales but will include the 'lost' sales for the Hot 100. Thanks for shedding some light!I underestimated the yt numbers for shallow

Maybe not the correct thread for this question, but is anyone else having trouble viewing the mediabase charts on allaccess? I click on the "song charts" tab and nothing happens. I thought maybe it were a browser issue, but I tried in both firefox and internet explorer with no luck.

Was 20 mil on YT seriously not enough for Lil Pump’s “Be Like Me” to even bubble under?

Was 20 mil on YT seriously not enough for Lil Pump’s “Be Like Me” to even bubble under? The US numbers were 5.04m, which is about the same amount as YoungBoy Never Broke Again keeps getting for his scattered singles that never make the Hot 100. Combine that with 2 mini bombs going on this week and there was no chance it would make the chart. Update: and here I was forgetting Pump had an album release too and this would also have on-demand on his side. I still blame the Chart History diggers this time a bit for not checking if Lil’ Wayne had it listed on his artist page.

This year end chart obsession here. I do not understand. Because people's year-end lists (including a lot of critics) and rankdowns come from those. Plus, a lot of people consider longevity as far more important than peak. Why is there such a peak obsession? Nobody cares about the Year-End charts and it's a fact. If Billboard never published them the world wouldn't stop. From a PR standpoint the chart peak is what matters. Besides, "Shallow" has already spent 22 weeks on the chart, that's more longevity than most of these quick #1s people track for their Year-End purposes. And with that said, the Hot 100 threads are unbearable. Literally the worst threads on Pulse and the nightmare is that they happen weekly. God save us all.

I know a few of those American Idol number ones missed the year end chart entirely, so it won’t so long as it makes it somewhere in the top 100. I Believe by Fantasia I think is the only #1 in Hot 100 history not to make a year-end Hot 100 chart..
Many of the early charts were quite flawed. The Partridge Family for instance hit #1 in 1970 but was not on the 1970 or 1971 year end chart , but it showed up on the 1970s decade end countdown

I love year end charts as much as anyone so, well I wouldn't say no one cares. Fewer people care in March though outside of this site

I will also say that I always get excited for list season at the end of every year over the songs from the year end.

^OK. I wasn't aware of that. It seems that the 1970s year end charts were a mess. One of them was You Light Up My Life being #3 in the 1978 year-end when all of its weeks at #1 happened in 1977.

LOL - yeah that is probably why the Hot 100 isn't out yet - Maybe they are recounting the votes at #1 because of the Starbucks thing

6 songs in the top 10 spent time at #1.
The 2019 charts are so much more fun than the 2018 ones.
Ariana also kept 8 out of the 12 tracks on the chart for a third week. Impressive.

Why is there such a peak obsession? Nobody cares about the Year-End charts and it's a fact. If Billboard never published them the world wouldn't stop. I could literally say the same thing about the Hot 100. The world wouldn't stop. And the fact people are bitching that people talk about them would defeat that first assertion. Something's not a fact just because you say it's a fact.

The Billboard Hot 100 is a measure of popularity all labels look at week by week to determine if their marketing strategies have been fruitful. So I SAID WHAT I SAID.
