The winner is predictable, but deserving! "Only In My Mind" is nowhere near the iconic juggernaut level of a hit that most of the albums around this one produced ("How Blue", "Somebody Should Leave", "Whoever's In New England" and the string of #1s that came after it, etc) but it is still without a doubt the most iconic hit from this album!
I'm intrigued to see "She's Single Again" finish in the top 2 though! That is such a fun song with an interesting premise. And I just realized while listening to it a second ago that it sounds like something that could have come from Pam Tillis' first couple albums!

Also I love how this is basically the only thought that anyone had on the whole entire rankdown Let's fix that! I was hoping that "She's The One Loving You Now" might make it a spot closer to the top 5 because I think it’s one of the standout album tracks. It’s kind of a grower though, so if you had only listened to this once and moved on it may not have left much of a mark. A random tidbit about this song is that Reba co-wrote this with David Anthony who was then George Strait’s acoustic guitar player (he was with the band up until 2002). “The Great Divide” was actually the hardest song for me to rank as it fluctuated a bit with each edit I made. I really do like this one and can hear its potential. Given that, I don’t think it would ever land in the same spot no matter how many times I edited my list and just as easily could be put into my top 5. While I was hoping that "Red Roses (Won't Work Now)" would at least make it to the top 3, I’m happy to see that all but two participants put this in their top 5 which means it was pretty well liked. I was so close to putting this as my #1 song myself. Ohhh…and this may have went unnoticed but this was co-written by a young David Lee Murphy! I feel like with some of these '80s albums the songs are better when removed from the context of the album, lol. Completely agree with this as well! Interestingly enough, though, the title track actually seems to work better when listening to the album as a whole. On its own the song just isn’t as appealing for some reason. I was fully expecting “Only in My Mind” to come out on top as it’s really the most iconic hit from the album. I’m not surprised though that “She’s Single Again” snuck into the top 2 as it’s quite infectious and catchy. It sounds like something that would’ve been just as much of a hit as the title track, so it’ll be interesting to see how this one performs in her album tracks rankdown for this decade!

“She’s Single Again” was also released on Janie Fricke album same year (1985) and was a single. Also made a video! youtu.be/jP6Ncx5VmNE

I literally just picked up Whoever's In New England on vinyl at an antique shop over the holiday weekend! As with all of Reba's albums from the 80s, it'll be quite interesting to see what everyone's thoughts are.

Whoever's In New England is Reba's first truly excellent album. Feel The Fire is also quite good. Her earlier albums took a huge increase in quality here.

Time for me to give a reminder for these, methinks! Terri Clark has been extended to August 4th, so I am now going to extend these by a week as well. They will be due on Wednesday, August 11th. That means instead of a 9 day reminder, this is more of a 16 day reminder :) Feel The Fire Participants:

Feel The Fire Rankdown: Results Time!
Final Participant List: (10)
1. someguy2. ClevelandRox3. RobbyFlorida4. castleoblivion265. tim6. .indulgecountry7. bboat118. codyj1009. 🌺CountryLineDancer10. taylorI'm so sorry for the delay getting this one started! I've been moving kinda slowly lately, lmao. I'm thrilled that this set has generated a little more interest, as we made it to 10 participants and our last two albums only had 8!! Feel free to answer predictions if you want to. As always, it's totally optional, and I will press on with reveals later regardless! :)
Questions to get us started:
1) What will be #1?
2) What will be #10?
3) Which songs will be in the top 5?
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing?
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (You Lift Me Up To Heaven, I Can See Forever In Your Eyes, I Don't Think Love Ought To Be That Way)
6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place?
7) Which album tracks would you prefer to see do well?
8) Any other thoughts/predictions?

By the way, this is who I have for Whoever's In New England so far. As you can see, it is still somewhat lacking compared to the other album... If you aren't on this list and you want to be, try to give it a listen sometime in the next couple days!! I'll be launching that one as soon as we're done with Feel The Fire! Whoever's In New England Participants:
1. ClevelandRox 2. someguy 3. RobbyFlorida 4. castleoblivion26 5. tim 6. lady𝓐fan 7. bboat11 8. codyj100 Due: Last Call!

1) What will be #1? "(You Life Me) Up to Heaven"
2) What will be #10? "Suddenly There's a Valley"
3) Which songs will be in the top 5? "(You Life Me) Up to Heaven", "I Don't Think Love Ought to Be That Way", "I Can See Forever In Your Eyes", "Look At the One (Who's Been Looking At You)" and..."Tears On My Pillow"?
4) What song will be most polarizing? "A Poor Man's Roses (Or a Rich Man's Gold) / Least polarizing? "(You Life Me) Up to Heaven"
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (You Lift Me) Up To Heaven at #1
6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place? Considering that both "I Can See Forever In Your Eyes" and "I Don't Think Love Ought To Be That Way" finished in the bottom 10 of her singles rankdown, it really could go either way. Here's hoping it's the latter.
7) Which album tracks would you prefer to see do well? "Look At the One (Who's Been Looking At You)" and "My Turn"
8) Any other thoughts/predictions? Going out on a whim to say the bottom 3 will be "Suddenly There's a Valley", "If I Had it My Way", and "Long Distance Lover"
