"Everything But My Heart" isn't a bad song and I can see the appeal, but something about it from a lyrical standpoint just doesn't connect with me. I can't really pinpoint exactly what it is, but suffice to say the appeal just isn't there for me like it seems to be with the rest of y'all. I'm rooting for "Somebody Should Leave", but I think "How Blue" will come out on top. Maybe you don't like the imagery of a woman singing about her warm, wet lips pressing softly against a mouth Haha you nailed it

Tends to make one jealous

OH I forgot to point out that heading into this top 2, nobody had lost their #1 yet!!! How often does that happen?!

YAS! I had thought that considering "How Blue" finished ten spots ahead of "Somebody Should Leave" in Reba's artist rankdwon that I should more or less expect the same kind of result here. I'm happy to see that wasn't the case after all!

None of the predictions got the winner right! "Somebody Should Leave" takes the crown, and honestly it wasn't even all that close! A whopping EIGHT out of eleven participants put this at #1, putting this up there as one of the more consistent winners of all time in terms of percentage of people to put it at #1. "How Blue" beat "Somebody Should Leave" by 10 positions in her singles rd, but honestly this goes to show you how close in quality most of her career is. A 10-position difference in her singles rd is not enough to guarantee the same outcome in a smaller album rd, because she is just SO consistent and all of her big hits are just SO well-loved that anything can happen! These have both proven time and time again to be among her more iconic '80s hits, so to see them now join BotB/RotB for the first time feels pretty good

WOW!!! I wasn't expecting this result tbh! I'm glad to see it of course, because I ranked the winner at #1 (how many victories is that for me now, lol? I never keep count) but like I said, I would've been happy either way as both songs are iconic. I also love the story behind "Somebody Should Leave." Reba had come to Harlan Howard for material to put on the record and he gave her a song that she didn't like. She turned it down as politely as she could, and Howard told her he had tested her to see if she could distinguish a good song from a bad one. She clearly passed the test, and her reward was this song! Thanks for hosting bboat11

bboat11 question: Why are we skipping 1984’s “Just A Little Love”??? Both “My Kind Of Country” and Just A Little Love” were released in 1984 BEFORE “Have I Got A Deal For You” in 1985. In fact, “Just A Little Love” was released BEFORE “My Kind Of Country”

bboat11 question: Why are we skipping 1984’s “Just A Little Love” Both “My Kind Of Country” and Just A Little Love” were released in 1984 BEFORE “Have I Got A Deal For You” in 1985. We're going in chronological order starting with Reba McEntire and My Kind of Country. Like you said, Just A Little Love came before My Kind of Country, as it was from April 1984 while MCOC was from October of 1984. Have I Got A Deal For You was the one that came next chronologically after My Kind of Country. So we'll get to Just A Little Love eventually. It will be in our last set, paired with Sweet Sixteen That's just the way it worked out when I divided the albums in half and started at the beginning and middle simultaneously, lol.

I guess in case anyone is curious, here is the full roadmap that I'm planning for these early albums.
1. Merry Christmas To You (1987) 2. Reba McEntire (1977) & My Kind Of Country (1984)
3. Out Of A Dream (1979) & Have I Got A Deal For You (1985) 4. Feel The Fire (1980) & Whoever's In New England (1986) 5. Heart To Heart (1981) & What Am I Gonna Do About You (1986) 6. Unlimited (1982) & The Last One To Know (1987) 7. Behind The Scene (1983) & Reba (1988) 8. Just A Little Love (1984) & Sweet Sixteen (1989)
And I'm thinking I'll throw 1986's Reba Nell McEntire in there by itself somewhere too, 'cause it's apparently available on streaming now.
You can see that splitting them in half meant that Just A Little Love is the last album of the first half, and My Kind Of Country is the first album of the second half.

Not going to lie I am super excited to rank Whoever's In New England just for the excuse to rank the title track at #1!

Reminder time!! We are now down to 3 1/2 weeks to join these albums if you are interested. Still PLENTY of time for two short albums, so no panic yet! These are the first two rankdowns due in June though, so try to get to them this month sometime if you can :)

As of this weekend, we are now down to two and a half more weeks for these! Still plenty of time, but they'll definitely sneak up on ya if you wait too much longer! Once we get the New Country Releases rankdown out of the way, these ones will be right around the corner!

As of today, we are now down to one and a half more weeks for these! I'm still hosting April New Releases and Terri Clark before these, so it might feel like there's a bit of a cushion still before it is time to do these, but that cushion is going to disappear very quickly! I'll start doing reminders more regularly from now on :)

Y'all I can't make you do these by Wednesday!! Let's give these a little more breathing room so that I can finish April New Releases and Terri Clark before it's time for these.
Just a short extension, until next Sunday! So you now have one full week to join in on these albums now if you want to, rather than just a couple days :)

Things got crazy this week, with me trying to wrap up the school year, as well as my friends getting married, and I didn't get to give as many reminders for this one as I was hoping... So here is one more SMALL extension to the middle of the week! If you want to join, please get your lists in by this Wednesday!! That means you have 3 days to get these done if you want to join ;) We're still missing some noteworthy regulars!

We are now down to just one more day to get in on this (at least the first album! You'll still be able to do the second one until I'm done presenting the first one!) Still hoping to get at least 2-3 more lists per album...
