After a couple of our more polarizing songs on the album, we now say goodbye to one of the least polarizing songs. "I Want To Hear It From You" saw most of its ranks falling between #5 and #8, with a lone #10 from castleoblivion26. Accordingly it hung out in the #6-8 range for the entire submission process, and and was unlucky enough to finish at the bottom of that range at the very end.

Who'd have thought back in the '80s that this song title would basically become a sexual innuendo by the time the 21st century rolled around It's still not as bad as poor George Strait crooning "I'm in too deep to pull out now" though. "That's What He Said" is a nice little song about a man making promises to a woman and her being like "well, that's what the last guy told me too, so you're gonna have to do a little better." Lol! Certainly not a new theme for country music, but it's good enough to be kinda memorable at least, even though I don't think radio missed out on a hit or anything with this one.

I think I'll pause there for tonight! We can finish the top 6 tomorrow!

I just meant that radio didn’t miss anything by not having this sent to them as a single 😂💀 This album only had two singles, the #1 hits “Somebody Should Leave” and “How Blue”.

I don’t really have too much to add for any of the songs that have exited thus far, but I will say that "You've Got Me (Right Where You Want Me)" wasn’t on my radar as something that would leave first. I can’t help but wonder if by the time some of y’all got to the final track that you had already found yourself somewhat bored with the album overall. That certainly didn’t do this one any favors especially since the consensus seems to be that it just kind of plods along, but I’ve personally always liked it. bboat11 is right though in that this is your typical 80s fare as it reminds me of some of the material on George’s 1984 album Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind and 1985’s Something Special. I’m pleasantly surprised to see “It’s Not Over (If I’m Not Over You)” still in this as I had set my expectations low on purpose so as not to be disappointed. Would be great to see it in the top 3! I think we all know what to expect to see in the top two, so it really just boils down to what album tracks leave in which order before then. This was a single?! Over my infectious instant Before I Met You? Oh heavens no! I just meant that radio didn’t miss anything by not having this sent to them as a single 😂💀 This album only had two singles, the #1 hits “Somebody Should Leave” and “How Blue”.This was pretty typical for MCA Records back during this time and is what then president of the label Jimmy Bowen preferred for whatever reason. Jimmy was already producing George Strait during this time and didn't start producing for Reba until her 1985 album Have I Got a Deal for You, but as president he still had control over the songs that got released.

Our final song to miss the top 5 is "Don't You Believe Him". This song was a pretty solid bottom 2 contender until it got a second wind thank to a string of #4 ranks coming in the last few lists. .indulgecountry's final last place pushed it back out of the top 5 at the end.

I'm just glad this one managed to hit the Top 5! Although, I'm disheartened by that trajectory!!! This should've been a consistent Top 5 contender!

Unfortunately for tim, "It's Not Over" bows out shy of his top 3 hopes, but at least it made the top 5! This leaves as our most polarizing song. It did not achieve much consistency at all, bouncing around throughout the 5-9 range and changing position with nearly every new list. It got lucky enough to finish in the top 5 thanks to .indulgecountry's own top 5 rank. (Interestingly, my #8 rank was the only other one to put it into the top 5 before... That proves how close some of these songs in the middle of the album were for much of the submission process!

Welp, I spoke too soon as I was really hoping that "It's Not Over (If I'm Not Over You)" could find its way into the top 3. I much prefer Mark Chesnutt's version over Reba's and admittedly for the longest time I didn't know that she was the first to record this song.

Oh, myself and someguy were correct though that "It's Not Over (If I'm Not Over You)" would be the most polarizing song! Not sure how we were able to nail that one down, but instinctively it just felt like it would be polarizing.

At this point, the top 4 songs kinda ran away with it! Our #10 song had 85 points and #5 had 71....Meaning the bottom 6 of this album was all within a span of 14 points. Most of the reveals were only a point or two away from each other! Our #4 song has 53 points. The gap between #4 and #5 is larger than the space taken up by every song below them

Lmao believe it or not, that would be impossible! On a 10-song album, even if everybody ranked the #1 at #1, that would be an average rank of 1 out of 10, aka 10%. It could never get down to 4% or whatever Pam has. I was perplexed by that for awhile and wondering if I needed to find a way to correct for that somehow, but I decided not to because it makes sense if you think about it in terms of what the numbers actually mean. It is way less statistically impressive for everybody to rank the same song at #1 when they only have 10 choices than it would be for everyone to rank the same song at #1 when there are 40 songs to choose from. So the larger the rankdown, the more potential there is for the winner to score higher. That's why most of the high-scoring rd winners right now are from Extras rds. They're typically larger than most albums, but also typically have obvious winners, which is a perfect recipe for winners to be nearly unanimous, lol.

Anyway, ClevelandRox's fave discovery "Before I Met You" bows out next, not quite able to snatch the title of highest album track, but a solid 20 points higher than the previous album track! This song has a memorable energy to it, to the point where it is the first song we have lost where I genuinely feel like it could have worked as a single at radio. Reba always nails this style of song! I kinda feel like I underranked it at #6, although my rank was not individually enough to affect anything, lol.

"Everything But My Heart" is our final album track to leave! Despite tim's unusually-floppy bottom 2 rank, this song had a really easy path to the top 5, and ended up leaving all the other albums tracks in the dust to spend the rest of the submission process flip flopping with "Before I Met You" for the top album track honors!

And now, one of the most obvious top 2s we have ever had! 😂
How Blue vs. Somebody Should Leave!
Who are we rooting for??!!?

"Everything But My Heart" is really beautiful; I was sad that I couldn't find room in my Top 5 for this but am happy to see it take the bronze!
I'm gonna root for either one of these because they're both iconic! I think "How Blue" is likely gonna take it though

"Everything But My Heart" isn't a bad song and I can see the appeal, but something about it from a lyrical standpoint just doesn't connect with me. I can't really pinpoint exactly what it is, but suffice to say the appeal just isn't there for me like it seems to be with the rest of y'all.
I'm rooting for "Somebody Should Leave", but I think "How Blue" will come out on top.

Of course it should go without saying that while #4 ran up an impressive 20 point lead on #5, the more impressive gap is still to come. #2 has literally half as many points as #3 😂
