What's the over/under on number of country-oriented tracks? If reputation included NYD, which was promoted to country radio to mixed results, it seems like this set might try to build on that. She'll try to strong-arm country radio into playing the Dixie Chicks again by making her speculated collab with them the only country song on the album. Except Country radio hasn’t played the DCX since 2003.

Few thoughts:
- Terrible album name. - Good cover art. - "You Need To Calm Down" better be the pop anthem needed to shift this era into the right direction. - LOVE the album having 18 tracks.

Loving the art direction. Not mad at the title. Also, it’s very interesting that both singles come from late in the track-listing (16/18 and 14/18). That’s unusual and makes me wonder what she’s hiding up front.

It's the This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things of the album - bratty and kinda obnoxious, but also kind of a bop. Her cadence is interesting and the production knocks a bit. Nice to know she hasn't completely gone Radio Disney on us and Snake Taylor is still here.

We never had any sort of indication of the album's release date did we? I'm lowkey wondering if she brought it forward to meet the Grammy deadline, because September 13th just happens to be a Friday, and given her penchant for the number it seems like a date she would drop an album on.

Not sure what MC you are referring to in this context, but I'm guessing not Mariah Carey! I was referencing Mariah but more so with the album title.

Glad that Album is just over 2 months away. Excited for it. "Lover" A Different type of name for her album but I'm sure we will understand more come August. 18 Tracks Regular 20 tracks Deluxe,Sounds Interesting. If the album is on streaming services the same day,Taylor's streak of 1M weeks could end. Anyways ,As a long time fan of Swift I can't wait for the new album.

You Need To Calm Down is such a bop!!! It is so fun and catchy. I liked ME!, but I highly prefer this. I can't wait to see the music video on Monday. Also, an 18 track album is like whoa! This is awesome news. I'm so glad that the drought is over. :)

This is OK. Not what I wanted after “ME!” But if it had been the lead I would have liked it a lot more I think.
Great beat. I think this one will be a big radio hit, though. Surprised some people don’t.

hate the album title (I've always just disliked that word), the cover art color scheme is very pretty, really like You Need to Calm Down. I thought Me! was fun

Sis just performed “Shake It Off” at Stonewall. Honestly, so smart of her not to perform a current single so that fans can insist it wasn’t just for promo

I'm fine with the title, especially since the guesses were getting rather terrible recently. I probably prefer all of her other titles though. Cover shot is nice.
I preferred ME!, but I like the new single as well, even if it feels like there's something about it that just doesn't come together.

Well this seems to have given a pretty good boost to her catalogue, even more so than the 146m AI Delicate had at its radio peak. Delicate is #97 on Spotify US and Blank Space is #167. Delicate was #164 on Spotify US when it peaked on radio.

She’s so aware and careful. I see what you guys are saying, but the subject matter would fit in PERFECTLY with it. Yes it would have. And that’s why I say she’s so hyper aware and careful because she thought this through. There is literally no other reason she wouldn’t have performed this, unless, I guess they could want the debut performance to be televised and a big moment. 🤪

I like her but everything she does regarding new music is so calculated these days. I know she's much more relaxed in live performances, but this era seems huge letdown to me already. These LGBTQ+ things should be in her music by default, not when they are in the news anyway. It's a topic she needs to address frequently. Pitchfork put it pretty well: "“Why be mad, when you can be GLAAD,” she sings, upping the LGBTQ-centering media organization, but also parroting a literal Tupperware slogan. And when she says “shade never made anyone less gay,” she adopts slang with queer black origins in an attempt to create a mic-drop moment, but ends up sounding like another corporation proving they’re “down for the cause” during Pride Month." pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/taylor-swift-you-need-to-calm-down/

The cover no shade is nice but it's also very Katy. I dont like her hair but I love PINK and clouds and blues and ethereal
I've been sneaking in old Taylor records and while I use to shade her then saying she is a pop star pretending to be country. I was so wrong. Her songs, her lyrics, her heart and authentic self shines in those records and her pop stuff seems more forced. Like she is goes from brilliant songwriter to peppy cheerleader high school so I think writing pop records isnt her strength or forte I think country and more folksy material comes easier to her true self
I could be wrong cause I'm not exactly familiar will all her work but just passing my own judgement like I do based on how I hear it
