That is an awful trailer, but there was never any hope for this movie beyond JHud singing “Memories,” and even that sounds oddly out of her comfort zone.

Looks interesting enough. I want to see it. I am surprised that so much of "Memory" was unveiled in the trailer given that it is the event song that this show is known for., What the actual FÛCK is that? In a Hollywood film in 2019? It's based on the Andrew Lloyd Webber show. Of course it will look a little out there. The cgi is a bit jarring. That is an awful trailer, but there was never any hope for this movie beyond JHud singing “Memories,” and even that sounds oddly out of her comfort zone. Seriously. Even Nicole Scherzinger did a better job on that song when she did the show on the West End. |

It’s like Jim Carey’s The Grinch except instead of one character being ugly for the plot, all characters are unironically ugly and furries. It’s art, like some avant-garde type shit. It’s got James Corden and Rebel Wilson, as well as Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, and Taylor Swift, all directed by the people who brought us Les Misérables. I think this may be the film of the year, if not the film of the decade. Everything’s going against it, but watch it turn into an unsung masterpiece. I believe everyone involved is competent enough to make this movie a modern classic.

Song not out yet- in any event, isn't a bit early for the release? I know Justin Timerlake's "Can't Stop the Feelin'" was out way before the movie, but that was an exception.  Just seems like it would be odd timing, especially as her new album's out soon and it may not receive the push that her album singles would. |
