Lover is the album that i actually enjoy from her since.. Speak Now? I kinda lose interest with Taylor (still was a fan but not that big anymore back then) after Speak Now. When ‘We are..’ came out, i got mixed feeling with her going pop, because i love country Taylor so much. Her debut is her best album IMO, its so pure and so personal. Red, 1989, Reputation are all great album but i don’t really care about it besides the singles. But ‘Lover’ brought me back to become her big fan. It might not be as strong as Fearless, but it’s got something that makes me a fan in the first place. I can’t describe what it is tho, lol. Lover, the single, IMO is probably her best song since.. Begin Again. I love how she sings it, how personal it is. Some of the songs in the album were definitely filler (It’s nice to have friend, London Boy and The Archer are aging poorly for me). Besides those 3, i think Lover is a very strong album and definitely deserves AOTY nomination at Grammy.

^ I'm absolutely sure that what Austin said is true. She would've kept both "ME!", YNTCD & the rest of the weaker part of the album and exclude songs like "Afterglow" or worse "False God".

One of the very few albums I can play of Taylor's from start to finish. There is something to enjoy about every song. That said, since I am obsessed with the title track, I usually start there.

A mess. Did anyone tell them that the General Field categories have eight nominees now?

I hope not tbh. A nomination is great, but a 3rd win would ignite backlash.

So, I'm having a Taylor Swift costume birthday party on Saturday. It's completely ridiculous, and I offer zero apologies.
On a side note, if you guys have any suggestions for naming red & green jello shots, or some kind of vodka mixed drink that'll be colored red, let me know - hope is to have the names be lyrical puns. #allyouhavetodoisSLAY

She’s doing “Lover” and a song she’s never played before this Saturday on SNL.
She has made similar statements before and ended up playing songs we’d heard (meaning she had never played them on TV) but this time it seemed like she meant it. Is “Cruel Summer” on the way?
I’d actually love to see a lesser known song get an SNL performance with no intentions of it being a single.

If she's performing Lover, I think the other song might be a little more upbeat. Could be Cruel Summer but I wouldn't want her to do it if she plans on having it as a single later...

I could actually see her doing False God. It shows a different, more mature side of the record, would connect well with SNL’s demo audience, and is a “New York” song.

Does performing on BBC Live Lounge count? If not, I could see her doing London Boy, just because Phoebe is hosting.

Does performing on BBC Live Lounge count? If not, I could see her doing London Boy, just because Phoebe is hosting. I would think that does count. Songs she has not performed: IFTYE Cruel Summer ITHK MAATHP PR SYGB (def won’t be this) FG Afterglow INTHAF Daylight That’s 9 potential tracks discounting SYGB which she said she may never perform. I don’t think it will be Cruel Summer because she’ll probably release that as a single at some point, so why perform it now? I also think it’s more likely to be an upbeat song since Lover is a ballad. My best guess is Paper Rings.

She did Cornelia, The Man & DBATC acoustic already.
My guess is either 'Cruel Summer" or "I Think He Knows".

"Afterglow" would be lovely. For some reason I can absolutely see her doing "Death By A Thousand Cuts" or "Daylight" for some reason. "The Man" too. But she has performed three of these live.

Just updated the stats for her repeat listens on last.fm after not tracking them for a few weeks. Since last.fm shows both the listeners and scrobbles for a song, it allows you to see how often people come back to various songs. The pre-release songs are at an advantage since they're the only new music fans had to listen to for a few weeks + were out longer + some fans spam streaming them for charts but for the 14 other songs it should be a good indicator of their appeal.
Average repeat listens per listener ME!: 17.95 (+2.90%) You Need To Calm Down: 15.64 (+6.75%) Lover: 14.28 (+17.32%) Cruel Summer: 13.83 (+44.52%) The Archer: 12.86 (+11.05%)
Miss Americana: 11.79 (+40.07%) Afterglow: 10.24 (+38.94%) Cornelia Street: 10.02 (+40.29%) False God: 9.89 (+40.38%) Death By A Thousand Cuts: 9.80 (+42.99%)
I Think He Knows: 9.55 (+39.33%) London Boy: 9.47 (+42.29%) Paper Rings: 9.45 (+38.77%) The Man: 9.29 (+37.37%) Daylight: 8.89 (+40.02%)
I Forgot That You Existed: 8.07 (+36.18%) It's Nice To Have A Friend: 7.61 (+37.21%) Soon You'll Get Better: 6.18 (+30.67%)

It’s Nice To Have A Friend and The Archer are the only filler tracks for me. Everything else is enjoyable and fits within the context of the album.

I appreciate a good piano-only performance but Taylor’s SNL of Lover didn’t really do it. I think the song could work as a piano ballad but it would need a more dynamic pianist to do it. Taylor looked happy though. Looking forward to the second song!

What’d I say It would have been cool to see the song performed with a more ‘grungy’ setting. A brick backdrop to give it an alleyway vibe or something almost bluesy. But it was good! Love the song

I’m actually underwhelmed by these performances. On “Lover” I loved the setting and her presence but I found the vocals very shaky and kinda forced. And she sang the hell out of “False God”, which is great but it’s so obvious she felt awkward singing it & didn’t know what to do with her hands and moves.
