On the Beatles thing , 5 in the top 5 will stand forever as the record, some may tie it but it will never be beaten. What does "some may tie it but it will never be beaten" mean? That record will get broken very soon. I won't be surprised if it happens this year. All it'll take will be an artist who can garner massive streams for specific songs during an album's debut week. Drake almost did it last year with 7 songs in the top 10. Ariana scored 3 songs in the top 5 this year. Won't be surprised if Drake does it the next time he drops. Ed might do it, too. It's really out there for the taking at this point. The one record I think might be hard to break will be scoring more than 6 #1 hits in a calendar year. That will be really hard. It'll take 6 #1'# to tie the record and at least 7 to break it.

The record can only be TIED, not broken. Pardon me for not reading clearly before quoting you. I think the record to set now is 10 songs in the top 10. One artist, owning every single song in the top 10 in a single week. That WOULD be a record to beat.

But how would you do this? Radio airplay is the only thing that you could specifically tie to a genre, but with more and more artists succeeding without radio ... I'm not sure that's a useful barometer for the "Hot" charts. I don't know. I didn't claim to know how to make a chart that would reflect such a thing, but I know the way they are currently crafted is nonsense. I almost wonder if it’s possible for digital outlets and streaming companies to add a tracking component to users who consume music and label them based on use. For example, if someone’s music consumption is made up of x percent country, their libraries would contribute to a subchart that helps determine country music popularity. This probably wouldn’t work as a lot of people listen to a mix of genres. But if there was a way to track how music by self-proclaimed fans of genres is consumed with sales and steaming, then add that to radio airplay and there’s your chart.

Meant to Be was on the Country songs chart for about 3 months before it even reached the top 15 of the airplay chart. So no, I don't think that has anything to do with it But then country radio eventually did pick it up After the fact, which I think was what was being pointed out.

After the fact, which I think was what was being pointed out. If country radio did catch on and it clicked. Someone must have considered it “country enough” to be played on country radio The same as the Old Town Road song. Some are considering it country enough to think it should be eligible for the country chart. But if radio doesn't catch on, then should it be on the chart? I think that was the point with Meant To Be in that whoever made the decision, made it before country radio caught on? Or was it not until after? The challenges of being proactive vs. reactive, I guess.

Wait why would radio play affect a song being considered country or not
I know airplay is important for country songs on the chart but not getting airplay doesn't make a song not country..

If it does so, it will have the 4th most amount of weeks on the chart before reaching the top 10, wow.

'Better' is at 27 weeks through 3/30.
30 weeks would be the 4th highest number for sure but if something else accomplished the first week in the top 10 in 30 weeks or later it would be the 7th song to do so.

Feels good to be back!
Thotiana is the hardest song to track. How in this world it's #8 this week...
I'm happy (and surprised) with Middle Child at #7.

I'm glad that we're back in the business.
As rockgolf pointed out in the AsK BB, with Mabel debuting that's 3 generation of Cherrys in the Hot 100.

It's a pleasant surprise to see Lovely spending a 21st week on the chart!
It's great to see Better hitting a new peak, but it's sad that Be Alright wasn't able to hit a new peak with the album boost (although I expected it to be minimal).

Can someone explain to me how Put A Date On It is in the top 50 and climbing? It’s not in the top 100 on either Apple Music or Spotify, it’s not in the top 20 of the hip-hop/R&B airplay charts, and it’s certainly not selling well. Where the hell are all of its points coming from???
