Not to mention that Marshmello X Chris Brown X Tyga collaboration, how do we think that will do?! Itβd probably do great streaming and sales wise but Iβm not for sure on airplay.

I agree, this has potential to be a big hit. Especially if they release the MV for the song on the same day as the song's release. Or this can be like, 'MIA' and peak in the top 10. We will have to see. I just think this may be a summer hit.

I can see it debuting in the top 40 with high digital sales, but the song's going to have minor streaming and virtually no airplay. They have a massive YouTube numbers and I can see it doing something on spoifty

They have a massive YouTube numbers and I can see it doing something on spoiftyΒ They've only ever charted with DDDD on US Spotify at #137 (outside of the track with Dua Lipa). I do expect this to perform better than that, but not by much. How many of their views on YouTube are from the US?

Itβd be smart to release it in the summer after the run of Here With Me. See if you can get a summer smash like Taste.

Probably I'm late to the party, but I actually listen "Murder on My Mind" a couple times, and the song is a banger. I don't know why I could like this song, but I like it!

Can someone explain to me why BB thought it was okay to remove Old Town Road from the country charts but let Meant to Be be stay there for an entire year. Even more recently, they have Sunflower on the rap charts... RAP.

The genres charts tied to the Hot 100, I never really understood why they exist

Me neither. I get what they were going for in that you can tell what the most popular rap, rock or country song is overall at any point in time - but you could do that by looking at the Hot 100 too. The genre charts as they are now donβt really benefit their respective audiences. I canβt imagine fans or radio PDs looking at the country chart for example and having it be of any use to them. Obviously if a country song crosses over to Pop and AC, itβs going to be more popular overall but it doesnβt tell any different story than what they could find on the Hot 100. Itβs redundant. Any country song that crosses over will have that guaranteed advantage regardless of how much country audiences are using or consuming that song. I just wonder who or what those genre charts are made for.

I like them only because they can tell us how well a recurrent song is holding up after its run.

As a Rock fan, I like them because they give me a perspective on where the heck the rock scene is as a whole. Radio charts? Not very useful because the formats are so splintered. Sales and streaming? The former has some relevant information, but the latter is just swamped with old songs because as a whole the scene hasn't jumped on the streaming bandwagon. So, Hot Rock lets me cut through the chaff see what's actually getting groundswell. Doing well on airplay but stuck in the top 30? It must be a song radio's trying to make a thing but nobody's buying, figuratively and literally. In addition, the chart acts as a time capsule to current events in the scene as it's weak enough that any surge for a classic will get it an entry out of recurrency (this week, reunion and farewell tours got Metallica and Fleetwood on the chart respectively). This is a genre where if I were to go off information on the Hot 100/Recurrents/BU, I'd know about, like, 4 songs otherwise. Just because Country is such a radio-heavy and powerful genre doesn't mean the rest of the genres want to be stripped of information.
Not to mention that, as a Dance fan as well, those metric charts are nigh useless. Streaming has slowly had oldies creep in and park, Digital is still flooded mostly with 2016-2018 songs, and there's no proper radio chart (Dance/Mix Show Airplay is mostly Mix/Show programming on Pop and Rhythmic stations, meaning the chart is like 80% non-dance songs). Hot Dance thus acts as the focusing point so that only relevant and current information is given the spotlight.

Not sure the genre charts ARE meant to benefit fans or PDs. The latter have access to 24/7 format charts with real time info minutia. It's kind of like the Hot 100 hasn't really SERVED the micro-music industry for 28 years, but - like these genre Rock, Country, etc charts - they are a bellwether snapshot of what is going on overall in the country.

We need the new singles from Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Rihanna or maybe even Chris Brown (i know he didnt make it since 2007) to be release already and debut at No. 1 The chart is boring. Justin Bieber announced that he stepping away from music to concentrate on his personal problems.

I understand some of the genre charts (for example, rock, latin, christian/gospel) because you don't often see those songs on the H100 so it can be hard to tell what is the most popular. However, I don't think there's a need for Rap genre charts, considering that almost all (39/50) of the songs are already on the H100.

The people who are guaranteed to shake up the charts are Drake, Post Malone, Rihanna, and Ed Sheeran.

One thing about this is there are no guarantees. The powers of the current charts could lose their power at any time.

IMO, the genre charts should be showing us the most popular songs in that particular genre's industry, not which songs in that genre (arbitrarily picked by Billboard) are the most popular.
