Knew this was coming for awhile now, but it's still wonderful to see it confirmed. I hope they don't have to wait over 5 years again for the next trip to #1 now.

Not a fan of the song but happy those girls succeeding. I like the brunette one a lot too btw. I also hope the song makes the main YE chart. I think for a song that has charted ever since Billboard 2020 started (since December, 2019), I think it is safe to say it will make the year-end chart. It should place very high.

Delighted for them! They’re so talented and deserve every success! Really hope they can get another hit out of the album, it’s one of my fav albums so far this year.

So so glad they were able to pull it off! Now let's hope radio sticks with them!

Usually marathon chart runs like this suck away all momentum and leave no incentive for radio to play the follow-up single, but in this case, this started connecting in a gigantic way as soon as it hit the top 30 and the sales have been really impressive... Not to mention the callouts have been nothing short of impeccable. I think this sets them up very nicely for their next single (*ahem* Bathroom Floor) to smash.

Maddie & Tae are the second duo, after The Judds, in which both members are women to have multiple number one hits on country radio. I’m not sure if this statistic is “all time” or since 2000 but either way it is an interesting, and rather sad stat.

M&T are the second, but still...only the second. Of all time.

The Judds had their string of success in the 1980s and the "current" country chart is dated as starting in the year 1990 because they switched how they reported the chart then or something (idk the exact details and reasoning but I've seen it addressed that way before), so using those parameters, The Judds fall prior to the current window (1990-present), which is why there's some funky reporting like saying that M&T are the first to ever have multiple chart-toppers.

Guys! I am 99.9% confident Bathroom Floor is indeed the next single. I say this because... Josh Kerr made an IG post congratulating the girls on their #1 and Maddie replied saying "Love you Joshie! Let's have the next one together!" (Granted it could end up being Write a Book or Lay Here With Me but I highly doubt that's the case)

I thought the whole album was full of potential singles. In my opinion they should be up there competing with Dan + Shay, FGL and Brothers Osborne for the duo awards at the ACM and CMA’s. Then again the duo category with the exception of Dan & Shay & FGL has been weak with hits for a while.

I Don’t Need To Know is a smash waiting to happen People are loving it, but while it’s more upbeat it’s not incredibly memorable. “I Don’t Need to Know” connected with me immediately. Obviously two midtempo singles in a row might be why more favor the former.

It’s kinda funny....after radio almost killing this song early in its run, now it seems like it doesn’t want to let it go. This moved back up to #2 on Hot Country Songs, is having a VERY slow decent on Airplay and actually had a positive spin gain today.
Ready for Bathroom Floor, but SO pleased that this still is doing so well.

This has been an absolutely amazing year for women in country:
Maren Morris and Gabby Barrett have massive crossover smashes. Maddie & Tae finally got their second #1 hit six years later. Miranda Lambert returned to #1 for the first time in eight years. Carly Pearce got a second #1. Ingrid Andress hit #1 with her debut single. All of the above peaked in the Top 30 on the Hot 100 and 5/6 will make the year-end chart. Taylor Swift is back on country radio. Reba’s about to get a #1 in five consecutive decades. Hillary Scott is about to hit #1 for the second time this year. Ashley McBryde is about to hit the Top 10 and probably go #1. Gwen Stefani of all people is probably gonna have two #1 country hits this year. The Chicks released their first album in 14 years to rave reviews. Five new female artists dropped a debut album (Gabby Barrett, Ingrid Andress, Caylee Hammack, Tenille Townes, Tenille Arts). Kelsea Ballerini is bringing popstar sensibilities to country by genre bending, finding some crossover success, and releasing one of the best country music videos in years. Carrie Underwood is probably gonna win Entertainer of the Year.
It’s finally happening!

Reading this post got me emotional. PLEASE let this be the first year in a years-long changing tide for women. Equal airplay for the win!!!

This has indeed been a wonderful year for the ladies of country radio starting with Ingrid & Gabby reaching #1 in successive weeks with debut singles, to which you can add awesome years for Maren and Carly as well as Maddie & Tae.

Kinda crazy how this year has been a shitshow in so many ways but yet we can celebrate that country radio is having one of its best years in like a decade.

It's really incredible how much radio is holding onto this one. Like, it spent most of its run not looking like it would be a smash, and then once it became a hit, radio is now truly obsessed with it. I am so happy for these girls that this not only rejuvenated their career but became an even bigger hit than their debut single. You love to see it. That said, I am very ready for the follow-up single so as much as I love that country radio is such a fan of DFABH, I would like them to move on soon, lol.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s close to the end of the year before they send out a new single. Nothing they release will have a shot as long as this is getting significant recurrent play.

So happy to see a female duo having this success and really hope it translates to having a female duo hitting the top 10 consistently going forward.
