You act like it isn't smashing though. It clearly is.

Terrible spoifty numbers for Taylor, guess it gonna have to grow to number one Nah, better stand by what you said, lol. You said she was a streaming force and that her next lead single/album era were going to smash. Top 2 is still smashing and it can still go to number one π

Top 2 is still smashing and it can still go to number one π It could very well debut at #1. Quite frankly, I'd be surprised if it didn't, what with the massive promo the song has gotten. She announced the song on ABC. She's performing it at the BBMAs and it got a music video upon release + it's the lead single off her next album. All those things should give it the push it needs to debut at #1. My argument was never than her next single would score a high debut. It was that it wouldn't have the longevity LWYMMD did - the same way LWYMMD failed to have the longevity Shake It Off had. I predict that in two weeks, the only thing that'll be keeping ME! afloat on the charts will be the points it'll be gaining from radio spins.

"ME!" is not debuting at #1 unless it's sales and airplay overperform which, going by its current trajectory among the former especially, it won't.

"ME!" has fallen on Spotify by 40% today.
It lost 1.5M streams in the U.S.
The counter currently says it's at 6.2M streams WW, but we all know the final number will be much lower - around 5.3-5.6M I'd say.
Ultimately...
1) The song is clearly frontloaded.
2) The song is absolute trash!
3) She can do much better, and hopefully her sophomore single release for this era is just that.

I was accounting for OTR's dip for the current tracking week, but as of right now, OTR is ahead of ME! in streams and will soon reclaim it's #1 position on iTunes US. It's never a good sign when a song starts to dip in performance this early. Usually means it'll crash before the tracking week is over.

The song is actually quite terrible. Shake It Off, LWYMMD and ME! were all poor, terrible choices for lead singles. Taylor yaps on and on about songwriting only to release ME! with nursery rhyme lyrics. It's really laughable. I'm particularly mad because I'm almost sure she'll have way better songs she could have used as a lead single on her album.

If Swift underperforms with a lead single then I don't know what to say. All I know, Rihanna and Adele's lead single better SLAY!

Will it be #1 sales though? Based on Kworb, possibly another day and 'Old Town Road' will be back on top on iTunes "Me!" is still selling twice what "OTR" is at iTunes. It will be more than 1 more day before "OTR" passes it, and even so "Me!" has already outsold it by so much that it would be hard for "OTR" to pass its sales total this week. And won't "Me!" have more than 50 million streams in the U.S. from YouTube alone?

If Swift underperforms with a lead single then I don't know what to say. All I know, Rihanna and Adele's lead single better SLAY! I'll always say that she played herself by not embracing streaming early on, thinking she'd always have her pure sales to rely on. I'm sure reputation changed that perspective for her. beerbongs and bentleys and Scorpion - albums that were released months after she released reputation and albums that debuted with lower numbers - all spent more weeks in the top 10 and have moved more units than reputation did in the US. I think this next album era will be more of a humming experience for Taylor as far as hits and album sales goes. Luckily for her, she's established herself as a global touring force so she'll always have that, regardless of how her performance as a commercial giant wanes. I just wonder how long she thought she could get away with release terrible singles. Sure, they'll get a lot of engagement when they first arrive, but they'll never last long because the key to being a streaming force is the ability to keep fans engaged. The key to scoring a hit single that moves a ton of units is longevity. Any song that doesn't offer that these days will be forgotten quickly. I also feel like Taylor has a large disconnect with her fanbase. She's still desperately trying to appeal to the teenagers who are her stans instead of her trying to grow as an artist and a songwriter. Those same fans she's trying to appeal to will turn on her soon enough if she keeps feeding them this bulls**t music. It'll only be a matter of time. I wish her all the best.

On-demand streams are weighed higher than YouTube streams and it doesn't seem like the gap between ME! and OTR will be that huge in the sales department.

ME! is #3 on AM now because Suge passed it. Weird that she couldn't get #1 there when LWYMMD was able to do so.
I doubt it will receive 50M streams from YouTube alone. More like 20M-30M.
Top 2 on the Hot 100 is pretty much a guarantee. #1 is possible but not clear yet.

And itβs down to #3 on Apple Music with every single banner.
This is underperforming. It might do even worse than LWYMMD outside radio.

I doubt it will receive 50M streams from YouTube alone. More like 20M-30M. The video is at 90 million streams, and there are 5 days left in the streaming week. Even if half of those views are from outside the U.S. it will still end up clearing 50 million in the U.S. That may not be enough to get it to #1, but it's more than 20-30 million.

Obviously we have to wait for US YouTube views to have an idea how many are coming from here, but I'm assuming the total is about 20%. She would need 250M worldwide views to get 50M in the US. Not happening. Or maybe. Got wait to see.

OTR might be on the decline but it's still fairly strong overall. I'm guessing the #1 peak isn't a priority for her team or they would have waited a bit more.

I don't know why some people thinking pointing that out is doing too much. This is a lead single and it's gotten the promotion/push a lead single deserves. It underperforming despite that will he pointed out for Taylor the same way it would be for any artist as big a star as she is.

Whether they like it or not, Apple Music counts towards Hot 100 success more than any other streaming service lol. This song is panned everywhere, so honestly the performance isn't a surprise. This is nowhere near Shake It Off in quality.

I thought "Me!" was perfect for 2019, but I guess negativity is still pretty much a thing for most people.

Seriously? People are extra af. "Me" is performing just fine. "Look What You Made Me Do" was coming off the biggest album and era of her career and a huge string of massive hits. "Me" comes off the back of her lowest-selling album and a moderate hit in "Delicate". This was never gonna have the same type of hype going in. Anyone who follows Taylor remotely knows she is not a huge Spotify draw (nor were any of her singles posting amazing numbers there regularly), so I don't know what people were expecting. She does not have the same demographic as Ariana and Spotify is notoriously urban-leaning which Taylor couldn't be more far removed from.

Taylor Swift singles not hitting number one on the Billboard Hot 100 is now classified as an underperformance? That's a pretty high bar, for ANY artist.

The reality is, as we all knew, the last era was a drop for Swift. Additionally, she's on her 7th album now. It's rare for an artist to still have the same clout on album 7 they did on early albums if those were successful. She's still pulling big numbers and is successful, whether or not this song gets to #1.
