Good news, the HAC callout improved again this week! Unfortunately, there was a minor decrease with Pop callout though there was less familiarity this week compared to last week which possibly added to the slight drop.
At this point, I think #1 at HAC is still very much possible. Hopefully Pop will continue to bring this up and let it peak inside the Top 15-20 range.

Remember guys... Maren’s label is a country label. There’s no way she’ll be missing #1 with that in mind.

Easing up on the ascent on Hot AC is not the worst thing this can experience. It still looks pretty good for #1 at this stage, and if it inches closer then it gives more time for Pop to pick it up further, and maximise its overall airplay potential. Better to still be getting tiny gains at Hot AC now than to have it charge up to #1, peak and then start dropping, with HAC losses undercutting Pop gains.

Actually - this will escape recurrency for another THREE weeks at Country since this has a bullet! The next time it will become eligible to go recurrent is April 19th, unless it has a positive bullet again.

This is so beautiful i feel it hasnt aged for me at all. Still hear this regularly and makes me cry. It deserves all the success its getting. And CHR has wanted this song for so long, I hope it smashes Pop as it did with HAC and Country <3

Notably, this is the first country crossover to hit #1 on HAC since "Need You Now" back in 2010. I'm not counting "Meant to Be" since that was a song that crossed over from pop to country. If we are looking at female country artists, I believe this is the second song after Faith Hill's "Breathe" to hit #1 on HAC ever. Big country crossovers usually graced the top 10 on HAC ("You're Still the One", "This Kiss", "The Way You Love Me", "Before He Cheats", "Cruise", "Body Like a Back Road") and some have come very close to #1 ("Landslide", "Love Story", "You Belong With Me" all hit #2 on Mediabase - On Billboard "Love Story" peaked at #3 and the other two peaked at #2) but it has actually been pretty rare for a country crossover to hit #1 on HAC.

I do believe that they wouldn’t have pushed it at all if some stations didn’t start playing at their own merit.

I do believe that they wouldn’t have pushed it at all if some stations didn’t start playing at their own merit. The CHR impact date might have been delayed (though there's some ambiguity about what actually happened with its push there, because it *DID* hit the Top 50 way back last summer, it was still receiving SOME airplay even before the recent surge, and I don't believe Columbia ever announced a new impact date), but this was very much an active, charting single at Hot AC (also a mainstream format) long before it launched at country radio. And since the record people were discussing is about "country crossovers hitting #1 at Hot AC," it's relevant to point out that this song, technically, went in the reverse direction. It was an established Hot AC single that crossed over to country, so for the purpose of this "record," it's not fundamentally different than Meant To Be. Even the "well, Maren's a core country artist, whereas Bebe's a core pop artist" is dicey here, since Meant To Be featured Florida Georgia Line (who, for at least part of the run, were treated as the co-lead).

Latest flyer from Columbia. DAMN! I hadn't heard she was pregnant until like... 2 months ago maybe and she "already" had her baby? LOL So did this, though. It was already Top 20 at Hot AC, and even Top 50 at pop, before it launched as a country radio single. In fact, didn't Columbia actually refer to it as a "Pop Follow-Up To The Middle" in an email flyer? I do believe that they wouldn’t have pushed it at all if some stations didn’t start playing at their own merit. The way you're putting it now, it's a HAC hit that crossed over to Country. But I get what you're saying, Maren is the first country act to go #1 since NYW, as opposed to Bebe, who is a pop act.

Amazing!
Do we think the murky release/rollout will have any effect on her GRAMMY eligibility or is she in the safe zone since most of its prominence was during the eligibility window? If this doesn’t free fall on Hot AC and has a steady climb on pop, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it show up in Pop Vocal Performance and SOTY. I know it went #1 on Country, but I don’t see them submitting there knowing her track record with the voters at this point.

Did Maren's album get any nominations last year or did it get snubbed completely? 'Cause I thought I remembered some rule that if the parent album has been nominated already then no tracks from it are eligible in subsequent years but if the album wasn't nominated then this would still be fair game.

It was snubbed from Best Country Album while Center Point Road did but that's another discussion last year. The only nomination Maren got was for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for "Common" (featuring Brandi Carlile) but she lost that one to the worst of all nominated songs imo Dan + Shay's "Speechless"
