On another note, just a personal opinion on a matter that should be discussed here.
I think Christmas songs should be allowed to chart during the Holiday season. While songs like "Shape Of You", "Perfect", and "Sunflower" were true monsters of longevity (and rightfully so), the streaming era has given unwarranted longevity to songs that either become background radio music or automatic playlist staples later in their chart runs, and the Christmas freeze helps to kill them off for good before they stick long enough to make the following Year-End list.
The strongest argument against Christmas songs charting is the fact that they might block future hits from reaching their peak, but I personally disagree. The charts this winter are particularly weak due to the lack of new releases (since everyone is waiting for 2020 to make an impact). Without any particularly dominant tracks on any metrics, Christmas songs will obviously take over earlier than usual. In comparison to last year, we had "thank u, next" as a massive release that had everyone talking, "SICKO MODE" was a streaming force, while "High Hopes" and "Without Me" were absolute radio behemoths, so they all kept stable during the freeze and their peaks weren't affected at all. Meanwhile, the Christmas songs took over earlier than usual this year because the top 10 consisted of songs mostly past their metrics peak ("Someone You Loved", "Good As Hell", "No Guidance", "Señorita", "Circles"). However, rising hits like "Roxanne", "Dance Monkey", "BOP", and "Ballin" are rising regardless of the presence of Christmas songs, and even minor hits like "Don't Start Now" are remaining quite stable.
So, to finish off, I don't think Christmas songs affect the chart movement in any negative way. On the contrary, chart watching becomes much more exciting, especially as we watch which festive songs are the most preferred by the American public and how it changes from year to year. However, I agree they shouldn't make Year-End lists, and the solution would probably be to disconsider their points when calculating the top 100 songs to make the Year-End.

Kind of crazy that 2019 has the second most number ones this decade after 2010 even though 37% of the year had one song at #1. headed into 2020 I wonder if we’ll see this trend continue or not

The chart will definitely reflect spur of the moment, but huge hits will always come around every single year.

Anyone else not able to see the Hot 100 due to not having a PRO membership?

Anyone else not able to see the Hot 100 due to not having a PRO membership? You have to hit escape right as it's loading, and previous charts work fine so it might be something with "2020"

So, i was just thinking about this, and does anyone think any of the current songs could break the most weeks in Top 10 record?. I actually think Circles could hit 34 or more weeks at some point. Its longevity in the top ten is impressive

Its longevity in the top ten is impressive It's probably going to be a song by Post Malone - he's the king of chart longevity. However, "Memories" by Maroon 5 could have a shot at it, unfortunately. They are radio darlings and if no big releases take over radio airplay, they might as well remain in the top 10 for quite some time.

I think Circles will be the one to break the rwcord. Its had incredible stability since November and is still looking pretty strong, and its already close to 20 weeks, so it doesn't have as long to go as songs like Memories or ROXANNE

Here's my point calculation for the week of Nov. 23, 2019. I'm working on catching up to the current week then I'll use these for year-end predictions

Hi. I just want everybody to know that this week should henceforth be known as the annual "vacuum week".
Where half of the top 50 disappears from the chart, leaving behind a huge vacuum that pulls all other songs upwards.

I think people should stop predicting any song that is trending/rising fast and has radio potential to go #1. Like really Panini, Ransom, and The Git Up were all predicted by most people to go #1 and it didn't happen, and also Good as Hell and Dance Monkey probably won't go to #1 now

These next few months will be really interesting. Seeing if OTR and bad guy can make 52 weeks, which i think is almost certain, seeing how long Yummy will last (i think its got maybe 10 weeks on the chart overall), seeing if Circles can beat the 33-week record for most weeks in top ten, and seeing what new songs peak at

Yummy is a complete flop. It will debut at around #5 ans then fall to Top 25, then keep having big drops until it falls off. Unless radio picks up on it its doomed

Yummy is a complete flop. Excuse me? Only one and a half days has passed. Just like how someone in the H100 thread said that it would “definitely” be in the year end top 10 before it even got released, you can’t say that it is a “complete flop” at the moment.

Yeah, we have to wait at least a couple of weeks before determining whether "Yummy" will flop or not. Remember that during the whole "Old Town Road" era we were expecting every upcoming release by a big artist to get that #1, but most of them (notably "ME!", "You Need To Calm Down", "boyfriend", and "Goodbyes") were significant underperformances.

Yes remember when we thought "boyfriend" would finally be the song to dethrone OTR? And then it didn't even spend that long on the Hot 100.

I'm so grateful to have witnessed the whole furor over "Old Town Road" and which song would ultimately dethrone it, only for it to be the song that debuted on the same week "OTR" got to #1.
And yes, as much as I actually quite enjoyed "boyfriend", it's hilarious in hindsight to think people actually believed it would dethrone Lil Nas X.

Katy Perry takes the lead with 8 #1s, Rihanna has 7 (excluding her 2 features). Taylor Swift's next with 5, then Adele with 4.

Anyone know why "Run the World (Girls)" flopped? It feels like a #1, it's an iconic song that people still quote, but it was #29 in the US and #11 in the UK. Was it some Tidal crap?

It’s interesting to note how much of a longevity MONSTER Shape of You was. In addition to spending 59 weeks on the chart, the song outlasted the SIX songs that spent time at #1 after it: Bad and Boujee (technically), HUMBLE., That’s What I Like, I’m the One, Despacito, and Look What You Made Me Do. Bodak Yellow can arguably be added to the list as a seventh song, as that and SOY left the chart on the same week and Shape of You, unlike Bodak Yellow, would have stayed on if it weren’t for the 25/52 rule.
