I donβt want to look for the Maroon 5 thread so Iβll just do what everyone else does and dump this in here: Adam has quit The Voice. Maroon 5 are gonna be finished! No, everyone else DOES NOT just do this. If you hate him/them so much that you felt the need to just randomly stir up this discussion that is not only not related to this week's Hot 100 but the Hot 100 in general, I feel sorry for you. PLEASE move this discussion far away from here. I mean, there's a boatload of sh*t I could just randomly bring up about so many artists, so don't get me started!! Dragged

It's too easy for songs to hit diamond imo. Especially with streaming. It is really? Like 20 songs are Diamond. And thereβs like an average of maybe 2 Diamond songs released per year. No different than how there is dozens upon dozens of albums from 70s-90s that are Diamond, but almost none today. Was it βeasierβ then or was album consumption by the public just at an all time high therefore certifications also were? Today consuming a song is done more than ever by the public. You donβt have physical singles released in limited quantities for limited times. Everyone consumes hundreds if not thousands of songs per year. So it makes sense song certifications would currently be reflected at higher rates than ever. It is lmao, the fact that there r muti platinum album tracks says it all

^Agreed. In spite of that, very few of the newer albums are managing to get to platinum.

For example, "Tik Tok" is 8x platinum, but isn't it eligible for Diamond status? (I might be wrong though)

^That certification was awarded on December of last year, which probably means it would takea few more years to even get to 9x platinum. Another thing that has to be taken into account is that RIAA needs to be paid to recertify. It seems that doesn't happen, in Australia, where certifications are awarded as they happen. ARIA also publishes their singles chart. In the US, you have Billboard doing that and having different rules for counting streams from different sources.

To clarify, in order to get an RIAA certification, labels must apply for and pay for them, they are not automatically given because the RIAA is a separate, private organization that is essentially selling a product, record companies are not entitled to them. The diamond award for songs does seem to be getting pretty common though; a search on their site yields 27 titles, but they haven't included Congratulations yet, so I'd imagine there's others not listed. Originally I assumed most of the songs would be earlier titles driven largely by digital sales, but there seems to be a mixture of older and newer songs, so songs can get there just as easily through streaming, and with that only increasing, I'd imagine there will be many more diamond singles to come. For reference, here's a link to their certification process: www.riaa.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/DIGITAL-SINGLE-AWARD-RIAA-AND-GRF-CERTIFICATION-AUDIT-REQUIREMENTS.pdf

Looks like (according to Kworb and HDD) Without Me was pulled from pop and lost nearly 50 million in radio audience. I guess this is gonna fall fast soon

It's also weird to see the sudden jumps for What About Us, Living and Hanging On as well as a sudden drop for Sunflower. It'd be one thing to see one of these happen, but all at once? This is odd.

To be clear, what's happening here with both Sunflower and Without Me are that they went recurrent on the respective formats. They were both old enough that leaving the top 15 equaled recurrency, and they were straddling the line last week. Us predictors will have to keep that in mind when it comes to making the estimates.

You can even pick any Hot 100 thread from 2019 and I'll accept the challenge.

But I don't remember seeing such a crazy update from kworb before... I remember LYWMMD's (-10) or something was the steepest drop not counting 8th day effects. And those had a format recurrent lost 10-20m tops... as shown on kworb's red updates. But like... (-49.50)??! They should also remove it from iTunes.

people shouldnβt have to pay to have their music certified Why not? There is labor behind the process of certifications. Should those people just work for free?

So does this mean that without me now has the biggest pop airplay loss this year, replacing please me?

What is weird is that when a song was recurrent on pop radio it was still counted on Kworb's audience. If that's not the case anymore, it'll be really hard to predict radio (the easiest metric to predict).

So does this mean that without me now has the biggest pop airplay loss this year, replacing please me? No, because it's not actual loss. It still has the airplay, Kworb just doesn't count it anymore. He does still count it. Problem is, there's a problem with AllAccess right now (where Kworb's site sources its data. On all the main charts, #30 is listed twice and #50 is not displaying. IDK what the specific issue is with the recurrent lists, but 'Without Me' is not showing up at all there when it should be. Since that data is missing, the reading on Kworb is wildly inaccurate.

Peaks don't mean shit if your song don't have staying power. Congratulations didn't get Diamond certification by accident. It's still doing insane numbers for 2016 single, outlasting many, much younger, hits, which is not as easy as Post makes it look.

With radio already dumping ME! and Taylor hinting at political undertones of the album, the entertainment factor of this era will most likely be off the charts!
