I can't believe you all tanked If We. That song is a bop and the superior version of I'm Real.

Shall we Glitter some more?
We'll get into #9 and this song has no #1 rankings, so we can rest easy. Eight of us ranked it bottom three and only three points separate it from #7.

#9. “Reflections (Care Enough)”Scenes from Glitter Live on A Home for the Holidays
"Reflections (Care Enough)" was released as the second single from Glitter on September 27, 2001. It was written by Mariah and Philippe Pierre, while produced by Mariah in collaboration with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The ballad has Mariah, in character as Billie Frank in the film, reflecting on how her mother did not "care enough" for her. The song is also featured on Mariah 2009 compilation album, The Ballads. Because of contractual obligations, Sony Music, the international distributor of the Glitter soundtrack, released a CD single for the song in Japan only. A clip from the film in which Mariah (as Billie Frank) performs the song in her apartment right after her character finishes writing it (the song is Billie’s first attempt at songwriting) was used in Asia as a teaser for the film. On November 16, 2001, Mariah sang the song on a special titled A Home For The Holidays With Mariah Carey, which aired on December 21 of that same year. In the live performance, Mariah sang a different lyric in the bridge. While the track sings "you could have had the decency to give me up before you gave me life", she sings "...give me up the day you gave me life" in order to avoid referencing abortion. Eight of us ranked “Reflections” bottom three and it is one of only two songs to not be ranked #1, though several people ranked it #2. It’s the song with the fourth-lowest standard deviation and is only two points behind the song at #8 and three points behind the song at #7. The song at #8 is only two points ahead of "Reflections". It's the only other song in the RD that has no #1 ranking. It's not a ballad...

#8. "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" f/Busta Rhymes, Fabolous & DJ ClueLive at VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards
"Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" is a song written by Michael Cleveland for American group Indeep. It was originally released in 1982 and featured vocals from Réjane "Reggie" Magloire and Rose Marie Ramsey. In 2001, Mariah co-produced a cover of "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" with DJ Clue and Duro, which appeared on the soundtrack for Glitter. The version contains a sample of "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See" by Busta Rhymes. Mariah’s version of the song features Busta as well as Fabolous, and it is heard during a scene in the film. It was released as the album's sixth and final single in 2001 in Spain on a strictly promotional basis to boost the album's slow sales, as the preceding singles from the album had performed poorly. Because of its limited release and conflict between Mariah and Virgin/EMI Records, the single's music video (directed by Sanaa Hamri) was not released until late 2002–early 2003 through Mariah’s online fan club. And here is the only remaining song that has no #1 rankings, though it does have nine top five rankings as well as seven bottom three rankings. “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life” is the song with the second-highest standard deviation. Total Points: 142 Standard Deviation: 3.12Average Ranking: 7.32 Loverboys 2 kmbgs 3 Kanenrá:ke 3 SHOOTER 4 🅳🅸🆂🅲🅾 4 jenglisbe 4 Exclusive 4 Mic Technique 5 #LisaRinna 5 AmazDrag 7 George 7 God 7 weaver 8 Ling-Ling 8 .indulgecountry 8 summers 8 die Lotterie 9 Albie 9 newpower 10 @pma2015 11 groovetheory 11 andrewantonio 11 Leigh 11 @antigonerising 12 Active Aggressive 12 Linnethia Monique

I love her version, and the video is fun. Too bad there isn't an HQ.
Crazy to think the time between Glitter and "Touch My Body" is the same as from "Triumphant (Get 'Em)" to now. What is time even?

Coming up at #7, we're back to eliminating #1 rankings - two of them go out next. This song also has nine bottom three rankings.

We wrap up tonight's set with the song at #6. It's one of the two remaining singles. It has one #1 ranking. And it's tied for the highest standard deviation of the game.

#6. “Loverboy” f/CameoClub of Love Remix Scenes from Glitter
"Loverboy" was released on July 16, 2001 as the lead single from Glitter. Written and produced by Mariah, Larry Blackmon, Thomas Jenkins and Clark Kent, "Loverboy" is built around a sample from "Candy" by Cameo, who are also featured on the track. Lyrically, the song finds Mariah fantasizing about her loverboy, a man that will fulfill her physical and sexual desires. And here is the other part of the J-Lo/Mottola scandal. The track was subject to controversy, following reports that Jennifer Lopez and Tommy Mottola stole the idea of sampling the singer's original planned sample, Yellow Magic Orchestra's "Firecracker", over a month after Mariah had signed for it. Since Glitter was to be released over a month after J-Lo’s album, she changed the song's melody to sample from "Candy" instead. Controversy ensued following its release; Mariah was hospitalized for severe mental and physical exhaustion, following poorly received television appearances involving the song and album. After the song's release in the United States, "Loverboy" stalled on the Billboard Hot 100. The song reached a peak of number two on the Hot 100 but failed to top the chart due to weak radio airplay. The single jumped 60–2 on the Billboard Hot 100 the week after it was released as a commercial single, with sales driven by a Virgin promotion offering the CD for a bargain-priced 49 cents. "Loverboy" became Mariah’s first lead single to not reach number one. Internationally, the song failed to garner strong charting, reaching the top-ten in Australia and Canada, and the top-twenty in Portugal, Italy and the United Kingdom. She performed "Loverboy" live on The Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour in 2016, as well as her Caution World Tour in 2019. On a personal note, David Morales’s Club of Love Remix is well within my top 5 favorite Mariah house remixes. I fully enjoy it even more than the original and the Luda/Da Brat remix. There was a time at the start of the rankdown when “Loverboy” not only had a chance at top 5, but was also duking it out with the Remix for the top spot. But that time was very short-lived. “Loverboy” though is 25 whole points ahead of “Want You” as it only received three bottom three rankings and also one #1 ranking. My dear Leigh you brought it close to the top five at least. “Loverboy” is tied for the song with the fifth highest standard deviation. Total Points: 168 Standard Deviation: 2.84Average Ranking: 5.84 Loverboys 1 Leigh 2 Kanenrá:ke 2 Linnethia Monique 3 Active Aggressive 3 groovetheory 4 God 4 weaver 4 summers 4 @pma2015 5 Albie 5 jenglisbe 5 Exclusive 5 Mic Technique 6 AmazDrag 7 🅳🅸🆂🅲🅾 7 kmbgs 7 #LisaRinna 7 .indulgecountry 7 newpower 8 andrewantonio 8 @antigonerising 9 SHOOTER 10 George 11 die Lotterie 12 Ling-Ling

"Want You" is a jam that goes well on any smooth rnb playlist.
I love the Morales remixes of "Loverboy", but I voted it so low because let's be real, the remix is better than the original and both didn't need to be ranked top 5.

That does it for tonight! We'll get into the top 5 tomorrow or possibly Saturday. Nineteen #1s still remain the game with each remaining song having at least two #1 rankings. There also still remain eight bottom three rankings.
Until then please enjoy these Mariah Extras: The MJ Cole remix of "Loverboy", the Glitter medley from the Caution World Tour, and a clip from Making the Video (Loverboy).

Very surprised at Reflections being so low. I thought it'd be top 3 at least!

Someone call a priest, this rankdown needs an exorcism! Either of those "Loverboy" abominations outranking excellent songs like "Want You," "Reflections" and "Twister" is just downright blasphemous.

Who's ready for the top 5? Time to decimate some #1s.
We'll kick things off in about half an hour or so. Until then, please enjoy this final Mariah Extra: "There For Me", which I'd completely forgotten about (the B-Side to "Never Too Far/Hero" medley).

#5. “Loverboy (Remix)” f/Da Brat, Ludacris, Shawnna & Twenty IIThe official remix for "Loverboy" also earned a place on the Glitter soundtrack and added rap verses to the original version. The remix uses the same sample as the album version and retains all of Mariah’s original vocals. It has a different introduction, the singing and spoken parts of Cameo are greatly reduced, and additional raps are included by Da Brat, Ludacris, Shawnna, and Twenty II. A video, directed by David LaChapelle, was also made for the remix and retains most of the shots of the original. In it, Ludacris and Shawnna can be seen rapping together as they ride in an old car, while Da Brat and Twenty II rap together in a more modern car without a hood. For about the first 8 lists, “Loverboy (Remix)” was moving in and out of the top spot. But it slowly settled into #5. It wound up only seven points ahead of “Loverboy” and fourteen points behind the song at #4. I wasn’t quite expecting to say that it’s the song with the highest standard deviation of the game, but it is. Only three people ranked it bottom three and it has other rankings all over the place, including three #1 rankings. Great effort God weaver and newpower ! The remix has definitely grown on me more over the years. It has a fun energy and it's the best kind of camp, I prefer it to the original.

The song out next at #4 was quite the top 5 constant though never nearing the #1 spot. It does, however, have two #1 rankings.
