#4. “Never Too Far”Live on United We Stand
"Never Too Far" was written and produced by Mariah and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The song was released as the album's second single on October 23, 2001. The song is a mid-tempo ballad which lyrically deals with heartbreak. The single did not make much impact on the U.S. charts; however, it did reach the top forty in the UK and Australia, as part of a double A-side with "Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica)". Mariah was unable to film a music video for the single. Instead, a video was created using a scene taken directly from Glitter, where Billie Frank sings the song at Madison Square Garden during a concert. Mariah composed a charity single in which all proceeds would go towards helping rebuild America, following the terrorist attacks on September 11. Consequently, she re-recorded "Hero", and made a medley of it with "Never Too Far". The song features a different instrumental introduction and begins with the first verse and chorus of "Never Too Far", and blends into the bridge of "Hero". She promoted "Never Too Far/Hero" medley through live performances at the 2001 Radio Music Awards, her A Home For The Holidays With Mariah Carey TV special, and 18 years later on her Caution World Tour. “Never Too Far” was never quite in the running for the top. Instead it did really well at holding steady. It found its way right into the top five and never let go. It’s the song with the third-lowest standard deviation of the game. It received only two bottom three rankings. And it also received two #1 rankings. George and 🅳🅸🆂🅲🅾 I feel like this isn’t the first time you two have shared a #1 but I didn’t research that or anything. Well done getting into the top 5! With "Never Too Far" out of the game, any remnants of this era's singles are removed. And the top 3 is down to three highly-worthy album tracks - a sign of a truly strong album.
The song that misses on the final showdown has four #1 rankings and zero rankings outside of the top 10.

#3. “Didn't Mean to Turn You On”Scenes from Glitter
"I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" is a song written by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and originally performed by Cherrelle in 1984. In 1986, "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" was covered by Robert Palmer. Palmer's cover fared better on the pop charts while Cherrelle's version was a hit on the R&B charts. Mariah covered the song in 2001 for the soundtrack to Glitter. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis also produced Mariah’s cover and she sang over the original instrumental. They had Mariah record new lead and backing vocals but retained the original backing track to give the remake an authentically ‘80s vibe. I’d say this was the little engine that could just for getting into the top 3. It seemed that for every higher ranking it received it then got a low ranking in return. After three lists, it was #1 but then it kept falling further and further back. Thank you SHOOTER and Mic Technique for helping me dig it out. “Didn’t Mean to Turn You On” is the song with the sixth highest standard deviation. No one ranked it any lower than #9 and it also received four #1 rankings. Slay a bit groovetheory Kanenrá:ke SHOOTER and yours truly. So, it comes down to "All My Life" and "Lead the Way"!
One has four #1 rankings and the other six. Only 18 points separate the two. Somehow, three of our Lambs found these songs worthy of their bottom three.

#2. “All My Life”Scenes from Glitter
“All My Life” is an album track from Glitter written and co-produced by the legendary Rick James. The song is a strong uptempo R&B/funk track with ‘80s flair. It is very reminiscent of Rick James’s own classics as well as female R&B groups of the 80s like the Mary Jane Girls and Vanity 6. When preparing to work on the soundtrack for Glitter, Mariah phoned Rick James and asked him to contribute a song to the project. Rick James was responsible for introducing the world to top 80s female singers Teena Marie and the Mary Jane Girls. About the song, Rick James says: Personally, this song is related to one of my favorite quotes from the movie: “Turn Sylk way down. Bring Billie all the way up.” I don’t really see how two of you saw fit to put this anywhere near your bottom three but congrats on finally clearing your bottom three groovetheory and 🅳🅸🆂🅲🅾 . And still, one other person remains with a bottom ranking in the game. “All My Life” is the song with the fourth-highest standard deviation. It also has the most #1 rankings in the game. You almost did it Ling-Ling jenglisbe die Lotterie Linnethia Monique Mic Technique and @pma2015 . #1. "Lead the Way"Performance on Ally McBeal idk why its sideways lol Court scene on Ally McBeal
Conceptualized in 1997, "Lead the Way" was an unused track from Butterfly, written and produced by Mariah and Walter Afanasieff. The ballad was the last song composed by the pair, as they halted work with one another shortly after its completion, due to their growing creative differences. Though written, the song was recorded during 2000, as Mariah began producing Glitter. Beginning with a classic and simple piano introduction, Mariah starts the song with soft and breathy vocals, eventually leading to a vocal climax, in which she belts an 18.4-second note, the longest from any of her recordings. She described it as one of her "best vocal performances", as well as one of her "favorite songs." In an interview with MTV News, Mariah addressed Glitter as well as "Lead the Way": Yes, all the other songs in the top 5 tried it but none of them were catching up after a certain point. “Lead The Way” did just that – all the way to the top. I mean, that final note alone has got to count for extra, right? Mic Technique idk what’s going on over there but congrats on winning the game inversely. 20 out of its 25 rankings are within the top three and four of those are #1s. Congratulations Active Aggressive #LisaRinna AmazDrag and andrewantonio ! Thank you for glittering with me Lambs! Such a fun album to reminisce on, especially given the resurgence it enjoyed over the past year or so. It's time to put the glitter away though and time to put on our bling instead. The Charmbracelet rankdown is open now and you can partake by clicking here! See you there!

Lambs changed the lyrics from "Turn Silk way down, and bring billie all the way up " To turn Jennifer all the way down and bring Ashanti all the way UP!🎯

#5. “Loverboy (Remix)” f/Da Brat, Ludacris, Shawnna & Twenty II
...
In it, Ludacris and Shawnna can be seen rapping together as they ride in an old car, while Da Brat and Twenty II rap together in a more modern car without a hood.
I know I-20 wasn't exactly the most prolific or dominant rap star at any point in time, but either you or your autocorrect are aggressively disrespectful lmao

Albieen.wikipedia.org/wiki/I-20_(rapper)For some reason he is miscredited as Twenty II on the back cover for The Remixes so I guess the aggressive disrespect starts with Columbia, lol. I don't think he ever went by that name though, until now I literally had never heard to him referred as such. IIRC the maxi-single only credited Da Brat and Luda so that would have been of no help. I remember him mainly bc I was a Luda fan back in the day and I-20 was like Memphis Bleek to Jay-Z, or Murphy Lee to Nelly. Designated sidekick who stayed getting primo feature spots and a solo album despite no charisma or hype to really warrant it.

All My Life and Want You are cacophonous messes. However, what's really wild to me is that I always said that it felt like the former was recorded in a state of mania, which is most likely true now that we know Mariah's struggling. The giggling, the whoops, the NOISE. I somehow managed to not completely hate it though and "You and only you can do the freaky things you do" (along with all of Bliss, lol) wound up being a private joke of me and one of fraternity brothers, because he would hear me play it all the time. Last Night, and especially Didn't Mean, were favorites of mine as a kid. The former was turned into a mess with DJ Clue and Busta literally hollering and grunting all over the song, yuck. The latter was just...unnecesary and inconsequential, but out of love for the original, I bopped. The ending is a mess though. Anyway, yayayayayaya I won! Lead The Way is flawless in every way. Also, Albie, you probably know this and just missed it in your Loverboy remix writeup, but Da Brat's verse threw subtle shade to JLo's "I'm Fake" original version. Her cadence and melody of the "Hate on much as you want to..." was the same as the Firecracker sample in that dreadful song and those lyrics were a direct shot fired. Fun playing with you hoes. Charmless is next!
