This is a cover of an obscure song by Kerry Delius released in 1984. Hazell covered it and released it as a single in 1985. Having scored two top 10 singles in 1984 with an independent dance label, Dean was offered to sign major label EMI Records in 1985, and this single marked her first release with them. Stock Aitken & Waterman produced this. She changed some parts of the lyrics, most notably, she substituted the line on the chorus though you can break my heart with they say it's gonna rain; the title of the song not being present on the chorus on Delius' version but was instead ad-libbed over the chorus at the end of the song. The song was also reworked at a faster tempo than the original. The 7" version was unique and contained some sounds and elements from the Indian Summer and Zulu mixes from the 12" but they were combined with the original production. The Indian Summer and Zulu mixes shared similar sounds though the Zulu one was far more beefed up (due to copyrights, that version is not on YouTube). 7" Version Indian Summer Mix This ended up only peaking at #58 in the UK but it's still considered a club classic there. It got underground play as an import in the U.S.
Love it. I randomly discovered this one on a compilation about 11 years ago via the Zulu mix and I got into it and checked out some of Hazell's other music.
