Ok it's out. I tried to like this. I did. After I saw people praising it on Discord. I listened to this again about 10 times to see if I could find the spark for me to rank it high. I couldn't at all. Each time it would make me fall asleep and made it worse. I won't rank another Legend song low.

I expected you and me to be the first of my top 10s out. Very nice and cute song, y’all know I am a big fan of cute and cheesy.
My 77 is making top 10, I underranked it but I still think it’s overrated. Nice to see hollaback girl make it this far, but I’ll have more to say about the highest Gwen song when it comes.

As someone who ranked La Tortura high, I agree....but then I see you tanking Best of You, that has, for a lack of a better term, an explosion worth a climax towards the middle of vocals/drums/guitars, and feel like you really need a rock song to show you what it's like to unleash that frustration Maybe Indie can help you there :) |

The end of this set was coming eventually. I'm actually most pissed about "1 Thing", because I actually had higher expectations for it. "Best of You" was always getting tanked, and I had a feeling it would be one of my first top tens to leave (but also not THE first). I'm just glad that my top tens started falling AFTER we got rid of "Hollaback Girl". The best thing I can say about that song is that I don't hate it as much as I used to. Okay, time to address the elephant in the room. If I had no prior knowledge about the song, I would not be able to tell you when "Ordinary People" was first released. One of its greatest attributes is how timeless the song sounds. I think it could have been released in any era and still worked. But, really, the reason I love the song as much as I do is because of the way John sells it. It's one of the best vocal performances of the decade. After you finish listening to "Ordinary People", you know exactly how much John Legend loves this hypothetical woman, regardless of the trials and tribulations they go through as a couple. When you combine that vocal performance with the lyrics, it's magic. To this day, it's one of the most convincing love songs I have ever heard, regardless of decade. I can confidently say that it's one of my three or so favorite hit songs of the entire decade. Ok it's out. I tried to like this. I did. After I saw people praising it on Discord. I finally started to lose some of my high placements including my first top 10 loss (#6) It's Like That. I can't help but rate the TEOM songs high, because it was such an amazing era for her. Also It's Like That is a bop. I'm surprised to see my #12, Hollaback Girl out so soon as well. I guess it's a polarizing song.

"1 Thing" overstayed by a lot. I didn't expect it to be bottom 20 or anything, but that was way too close to top 30. That hook is incredibly annoying and repetitive, and the instrumental isn't even interesting. I didn't think it was that liked? It sounds like some scrapped Beyonce track to me. At least, with my list, the far better and more deserving "Ordinary People" made the top 30, instead. I wish it could have lasted one more spot for that perfect ranking, though. :( I probably could have ranked "Listen To Your Heart" a bit higher, and I really love the original, but the EDM doesn't really agree with the rest of the song, IMO. Still, it's a really nice song. I still don't know why I don't hate "Hollaback Girl", though I should. It has just always such a fun song to me. I expected more resistance and for it to place lower on the rankdown, so I'm quite content with #37. It's only my second top-ten loss, and it was exactly what I expected my second one to be. I didn't expect my second top-ten loss to come in the top 40, so I'm quite thrilled. "These Words" isn't bad, per se, but it's definitely a weaker Natasha Bedingfield single. I'm glad it got out sooner than I expected. I'm quite happy with this set of reveals, for the most part. :) My bottom 25 is cleared, but my #72 could make the top ten... "Don't Phunk With My Heart" in the top 30 is not something I expected, but something I am extremely pleased about. Well done, guys!  |

'Don't Phunk With My Heart' is probably the best thing the BEP ever did with Fergie, before will.i.am's ego overran their musical output (though I continue to be a fan of 'Boom Boom Pow')

Seems about right for Lose My Breath. Good Destiny's Child song but not their best. It was my 24 so I was not far off. I'll expect my top 10 bloodbath to start soon, but I seem to have been mostly on par with the average so far.
Almost a perfect ranking for Don't Phunk With My Heart. I liked that version of BEP - even My Humps - and maybe I underranked this a bit. I think it's at the point in the rankdown where I just liked everything else more.

Yikes @ the Lil Wayne/Blink medley. Anyways, the original "Numb" is definitely tempered down here and the songs contrast a bit too much lyrically and musically, which is why I didn't rank this higher.
