On the other hand, the HAC callouts are pretty good (#3 Net positive, #4 Positive and #14 Negative). Also the burn rate is low, maybe another TOP 5 here.

The HAC callouts are really good considering songs almost never debut at the top and need time for familiarity to increase for the scores to increase. Kind of crazy how widely her reception has varied on HAC vs Pop with her last three singles.

The HAC callouts seem promising and this format might save the song in case Pop drops this out completely. She needs a surefire hit :(

Hopefully these call outs won’t mean the song is finished. At least it went Top 10 on Pop. I hope the controversy didn’t hurt this on callouts. I would like to see her get a #1 Single this era but it is more and more looking out of reach.

Wait --
the HAC and Pop callout disparity is FASCINATING and one of the few topics that we actually deserve to spend multiple pages dissecting!

I'm done with this era's singles. Why does she always release the worst songs as singles? So everyone is impressed when they hear the full album and it's good

Does that mean we’re getting played psychologically? Lower expectations so the album feels better than it is LOL

Lover is gonna be great. It is gonna be like Rep where everyone was underwhelmed with the singles and then was raving about the album and how unexpectedly good it was. Even if she screws up singles, she always delivers a solid album.

I would like to see her get a #1 Single this era but it is more and more looking out of reach. LWYMMD barely hit number one at pop, I don’t know how it did. During the rep era, I was completely convinced that she wouldn’t get another pop chart topper, and then she scored her longest running number one on the chart ever with the final single. If the rest of the LP is as good as “The Archer”, she has another number one in her. There’s also a chance she could get a Hot 100 chart topper during album release week.

I agree, I feel that HAC audiences are a little bit on the older and more mature side but not too old, like 25-50 age audience that would accept Taylor more now at this point in her career than Pop audiences, which are a 18-34 demo age. I feel the same way about Katy Perry at this point as well. Someone said it correctly on this page, to me, that people are just tired of Taylor (and to a degree of Katy) herself period more that then song itself so they'll judge on Taylor as a person more than judging how they like her music. It's an interesting for Pop music in general and it feels like we're in a crossroads between two generations (Millennials and Gen Z) and the music itself (influence of Trap music vs what coming next).

It's funny because I'd say 15-30 is still Taylor's core fan demo. But maybe because of the fact that her biggest fans are in that demo, and that demo is more exposed to the contemporary pop culture, there's also more people in that generation who dislike her? While the older demo are mostly tuned out of the pop culture headlines and are just judging the songs themselves?

yeah, those callouts aren't... great. they're better than me!'s at least, but i don't know how much it's gonna recover. once it peaks, it'll peak hard. i'd be fine with at least top 5 on pop.
at least HAC seems to be liking this a lot better. i'm just going to hope and pray that at least one single from the lover era is well received by radio like delicate was, because right now it's not looking very good.

So everyone is impressed when they hear the full album and it's good Or when they don’t because they lose interest before the album comes out. Or even worse when they’re far too biased and affected by the bad pre-release singles that they naturally can’t enjoy the album. I swear, even if ‘Lover’ is ‘Melodrama’ level, it will still get lukewarm reviews. It’s obvious she wrote the “I cut off my nose just to spite my face” line about her release rollouts.

For me, I find that the burn rate for this is even higher than Me. When I hear this on radio, I actually switch station quickly.
On initial listen when it was first released, it has attention-catching lyrics with a fun video. But the internet-speak lyrics got old really fast for me, felt immature. Even more so than Me, tbh.

I actually really like this. I can't see how this could burn so quickly on people, it's not super polarizing in my opinion.

I think the idea of the song is great. But the execution feels well beneath her standard and maturity.
My biggest issue with both Me and YNTCD is that she clearly wrote these two songs with a target audience in mind. They don't feel genuine and also not relatable, unlike her other big hits. Just doesn't feel like it's Taylor.

Callouts are in. Pretty bad, but not as awful as we've seen with her lol -83.1% of people surveyed are familiar with this song --53.7% of those people felt positively about this song --24.3% of those people say this is one of their favorite songs right now --31.4% of those people felt negatively about this song --14.9% of those people are tired of hearing this song -22.4% Net Positive score Percent Ranks Positive: #19/20 (ahead of only NRO lol) Favorite: #12/20 Negative: #2/20 Burn Rate: #4/20 Net Positive: #20/20 Familiarity: #15/20 Rest of data for those interested: 07/26/2019 Callout Research (1,198 people surveyed) -996 of people surveyed are familiar with this song --535 of those people felt positively about this song --242 of those people say this is one of their favorite songs right now --313 of those people felt negatively about this song --148 of those people are tired of hearing this song -222 Net Positive score Raw Number Ranks: Positive: #16/20 Favorite: #12/20 [tie] Negative: #2/20 Burn Rate: #6/20 Net Positive: #20/20 Overall Rank: #19/20 (#29/30 with recurrents) Well, at least it's not as bad as "ME!" when it first debuted on callouts. That's to be expected, though, given that has been performing slightly better than "ME!" on sales and streaming from the second week onwards. (It's also better than "Never Really Over"'s debut on callouts.) That burn rate is crazy high for its age, though, and the low positive is concerning as well. The most concerning part is that high negative score. This could improve as the weeks go on like "Truth Hurts" has (and "Never Really Over" to a smaller extent), but I wouldn't expect this to have a strong turnaround. Probably going to peak here in the coming weeks. Good thing we're likely getting the third single with the album in a few weeks.

This should’ve been single #1 I’m shocked it’s not gaining high spins. Overall too teeny bopper for her age. Feels like this should’ve been in between RED and 1989.

This should’ve been single #1 I’m shocked it’s not gaining high spins. These seem like two different opinions. Also dying at "teeny bopper." My 53 year old dad uses that phrase to describe any female pop musician. I hate it, it sounds gross. What "moist" is to most "teeny bopper" is to me.

Those call outs I suspect have more to with attitudes towards Taylor Swift than they do with the actual song. There’s no way Katy Perry and her just happen to have the most hated songs on radio right. People are ready to move on. It’s time to pass the torch onto something new. Something a bit a more regrettable face tattoos I guess.
