"When You Cry" bows out next, unfortunately taking castleoblivion26 's #2 with it, plus 3 other top 10s. someguy loses his #20. What's pretty amazing though is that despite that huge range in votes, this only managed to be the 5th most polarizing song!!! That should give you a sense for some of the turmoil that lies ahead My thoughts on this song; I honestly wish I liked it more than I did. It just kinda feels long and boring to me, no matter how many times I listen to it. I am sure I will come to love it with time, because it definitely feels like one of those songs that will grow on me. Martina's contribution to this album is way better (And came in at #12 out of 40 in her Extras rankdown!!!)

I was sad when I wasn't feeling "Part of Your World" at all. I absolutely love Colbie Caillat's "Kiss The Girl" from one of those Disney cd's so I had really high hopes for POYW, which made it just more disappointing.

I love "When You Cry". It is definitely one of those songs that took time to grow on me. I am sad to see it out so early but I didn't expect it to last too long so I'm not surprised.
the other songs belonged at the bottom. I was definitely disappointed to listen to "Part Of Your World", it is not a good rendition.

So "The Way You Look Tonight" is really well done for the type of music it is. Not a type of music I normally seek out but I do enjoy it from time to time.
"The First Noel" is a Christmas song and by and large Christmas songs are trash so to the bottom it goes!
"Sing Me The Song Of Your Day" was cute, figured it would get tanked.
"Part Of Your World" I actually usually love this song but I didn't care for Faith's vocal actually haha
"When You Cry" is a nice discovery, I get why it wouldn't compete with more well known material but it is a good song!

I did mention that I rushed my list, right? ...which could imply that I may have overranked some songs (e.g "Sing Me...") and underranked others...

"Boy" leaves us next, the first song from one of Faith's actual albums to bow out. After keeping fans waiting for YEARS for a new album, and then teasing us with a new album around 2012 that ended up never coming, we FINALLY got a new album from Faith in 2016.....which was a compilation of songs from her previous albums!!! Oh boy!!!
Fortunately, that album did bring us three new tracks that had been leftovers from the Fireflies era, her most recent solo studio album. "Boy", "Why", and "Come To Jesus".
I think "Boy" is quite underrated, tbh. The sparse production feels a little odd at first and Faith's vocal actually sounds rough for the first half of the song, which is the first thing you notice. But it builds very nicely in the second half, and tbh I have come to really love the melody and the way that Faith delivers it. Sad to see this one go already!

Right on the tail of "Boy", we lose the second new track from the Deep Tracks compilation!! "Come To Jesus" is a cover of a song made famous by Mindy Smith.
I expected this one to be polarizing, and lo and behold it ended up being the most polarizing song in the rankdown! Five people lost a top 10, while 4 people lost a bottom 4. I am the only person who had their rank towards in the middle.
Personally, I have never been a huge fan of this song. Faith does a good job with it, but I have never liked the melody of this song, ever since CMT played Mindy's version into the ground in 2003-2004 ish. The only reason it is as high as #12 on my list is because there are a pretty large amount of weak songs in this rankdown...

"Where You Lead" is a tribute to musical icon Carole King. It is also the oldest song in this rankdown, as Faith put it out in 1995. I personally was not that impressed with this one, as it feels pretty forgettable. However, someguy put it in his top 5, which ended up giving it quite a boost early on in the submission process, and then ultimately ended up helping it to beat "Come To Jesus" in a tie!

Sad to see this one out already. Carole King is one of the greatest of all time, and I think Faith does a pretty good job of this one. It was recorded so early in her career. I wonder what it would have sounded like if she recorded 10 years later.

"Give In To Me" leaves us next, as the first radio single of this rankdown to leave us. It was released as part of the Country Strong soundtrack in 2010. This song seems to have softened in some of our minds since we last ranked it in her singles rankdown! It only placed #39 out of 40 there. Granted the competition was probably a bit stronger, limiting how well it could do, but I seem to recall nobody really liking this one... This time around it got a lot of middle ranks and not a lot of hate (Other than toomuchboy finally losing his last place. He is the final person to do so). Personally I like "Give In To Me" a LOT more than I did during the singles rankdown. I thought it was actively bad then, but now I think it's actually kind of catchy? It's still going out in a good place here, but I am okay seeing it do better than I expected!

Martina's contribution to this album is way better Of course you would say that lol...I'm actually partial to Faith's "When You Cry" as I've never really liked Martina's "Little Bits of Lightning", but both songs are well suited for their individual styles. Of the songs included from the Deep Tracks compilation "Boy" was easily my least favorite songs of the three and I actually found I disliked it more with each listen. On the other hand, "Come to Jesus" was my favorite of the three and I thought it allowed Faith to really shine. I thought I might've been overranking this a tad bit myself it remained one of the more memorable songs from this rankdown. I enjoyed "Where You Lead" well enough and again there are some aspects of the song that allow Faith to shine, but it's nothing that I find I would revisit after one listen. Oh, and I normally like Christmas songs but I did not enjoy that duet on "The First Noël" at all...I will also admit that I am just not a fan of Josh Groban's voice.

I wonder what it would have sounded like if she recorded 10 years later. I think she would have done a much better job of adding some much needed rock inflections had she done it later in her career. She really mastered that over time, with a lot of heavy rock influences in the Breathe and Cry eras in particular!

Martina's contribution to this album is way better Of course you would say that lol... As would pretty much everybody else (except for you apparently), considering the fact that it finished in the 30th percentile of Martina's Extras rankdown, compared to "When You Cry" finishing in the 75th percentile here

#11 is going to be a bit of a shock for some, and some may say the pain is truly beginning with the next reveal. It finished almost a full 20 points higher than "Give In To Me", and tried to be a top 10 contender for much of the submission process. It will be the 3rd most polarizing song of the rankdown, and it will see the loss of THREE top 5s...

Like I said, "Keep Your Eyes On Me" tried to be a top 10 contender, but it was never really able to bust its way through for good, because our top 10 here was very strong!! For the most part, the bottom 10 fought against each other for this whole rankdown, while the top 10 also fought against each other! "Keep Your Eyes On Me" is the newest song in this rankdown, being from the soundtrack for 2017's "The Shack" movie. This song was the beginning of a lot of big press and exposure for Faith, because about the same time this song was announced, Tim & Faith also announced hot new record deals for each of them, and then confirmed concrete plans for their long-anticipated duets album, followed shortly after by their revamp of the Soul II Soul tour!!!! There was a LOT of hype surrounding Faith especially about the time this song came out (Tim less so, because his fans wanted another solo album. But this was super exciting for Faith fans who hadn't heard much from her in over a decade!) I personally think it is pretty ridiculous that this song then didn't even make the duets album Just another of the series of missteps that surrounded that era... My rank for this song might be pretty low, but I do like this song. I just didn't like it as much when I made my list as I remember liking it back when it came out, which is unfortunate

Perfect top ten. "Come Home" is somewhat an anomaly, but I'll live.

@ me getting a perfect ranking for "Give in to Me" in both rankdowns it was in (I put it #39/40 in her singles RD). "When You Cry," and especially "Keep Your Eyes on Me," are out way too soon! Her vocal on "Eyes" is absolutely extraordinary. She just destroyed the emotion in that song. Better than like half their duets album that followed, lol. Great top 10 though overall. Imma need "It's Your Love" to not win this though since she's barely even on the song.

(12/40 = .3) "When You Cry" finished at 15 out of 20 here in Faith's Extras Rankdown, which is the 75th percentile. (15/20 = .75) What are you confused by bb??

:'( :'( :'( "Why" is by far the most poignant suicide song I have ever heard. I believe I mentioned in the Rascal Flatts rankdown that this song is just FULL of metaphors that fill me with emotion, especially the comparisons to suicide being like walking away in the middle of a music performance. Throw in a tender and nuanced vocal performance from Faith, and I become a blubbering mess. Rascal Flatts' version is great too, but I LOOOVE Faith's take on this even more. She makes the song build in a more organic and believable way. Probably because the song was supposed to be for the fantastically-produced Fireflies album, compared to RF's typical overproduced bombastic albums. This song was all over the damn top 10, but was pretty much always a part of the top 10. In the end it finished in a tie with "Keep Your Eyes On Me", but won the tie thanks to taylor is terrified's #1 rank :)
