Hello, and welcome to the
Faith Hill Album Series!
 Y'all, I feel like I have been teasing you with this one for waaaaaaay too long... In three months, it will officially be TWO years since we finished the Faith Hill singles rankdown! I was not terribly familiar with Faith's output before that rankdown, as tragic as that sounds, and as a host I found myself making SO many incredible discoveries thanks to the album track submissions you guys made. I would absolutely say that out of all the rankdowns I have hosted, this is the one where I learned the most. I may not be the most qualified album series host, in the sense that I don't know every nook and cranny of Faith's albums the way I do somebody like Martina/Reba/George, but based on how excited I have been every time I make a new Faith discovery the past two years, I am pumped to host these in the spirit of discovery  First album announcement coming...as soon as I finish writing the post!!!! Cry (2002)
After the somewhat surprising but absolutely well-deserved victory of "Cry" in the singles rankdown, I have been itching to see peoples' rankings for the parent album, Cry. This album was a bit of an experiment for Faith, and was met with an extremely mixed reception due to the fact that it is essentially a pop album. The album saw minimal chart success, with the title track being the only noteworthy single, and the other 4 singles being basically ignored by radio. However, despite the initial shock and backlash from the public, it managed to win her a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance! I think that this album has aged incredibly well. There are a variety of styles here, and I can totally see why country fans might have rejected it upon its release, but listening to this album today it totally sounds like a ton of care was put into it. The production sounds as fresh as ever, the vocals are absolutely flawless, and the way that the pop/rock/orchestral/country elements are all mixed in together in some of these arrangements is absolutely masterful! In addition to the title track winning the singles rankdown, this album had the distinction of having EVERY ALBUM TRACK except for one submitted as a contender for the album track portion of the rankdown! 5 of those songs ended up filling the 10 positions of the rankdown. There is no denying that, as a whole, it seems that the Faith Fans of Pulse will enjoy doing this album first

-For "Stronger", please rank the album version, NOT the live version from her Hits album. That version will appear later if we get to do an Extras rankdown for her!
-For "You're Still Here", feel free to rank it based on either the album version or the country edit single version, whichever you prefer.

Oh interesting, I've never heard of "Wicked" or "Shadows" so that will be fun to discover two new Faith songs!

I love this album, and it is the only album of hers I've listened to the entire thing. In fact this past week I was listening to this album before you opened this. I'll have a list in sooner than later due to that, I just need to hear the two bonus tracks that I've heard previously but am not that familiar with.

Usually I’m on top of the all the album series but I’m waiting for July to roll around before I jump into anymore rankdowns. While the album has some good songs it’s by far my least favorite release from her but I will get in a list soon.

When I listened to this album some time back several years ago, I'll admit that I wasn't impressed outside of a few songs outside of the singles. However, I'm willing to give this another shot to see if my mind has changed any.

Cry was the first CD I ever bought! I listened to it obsessively for months after I bought it. It's a pretty solid album, but there was really no way they were going to have much success at country radio with it. I'm really excited to see how this one turns out.
