So glad I helped Cry win. WTLGD is so overrated.
Can’t wait for FAITH!

The final result is not really a surprise, is it? What's surprising is that WTLGD almost got! Yay I love both songs, but WTLGD is my favorite Faith song. I just love everything about it: the lyrics, melody, production and of course, Faith's vocals! This is probably my favorite vocal performance from her on record... her low register is absolutely gorgeous and her higher notes have this kind of "raspy" quality that really gives it a raw element... it's just so full of emotion and yet not overdramatic (like a lot of country power ballads)! Same goes for the production... it's so elegant and the guitar solo contrast with the orquestra is such a nice touch and quite powerful! Every single time I hear her sing "And I wonder if all my life's about / the sum Of all my fears and all my doubts / When the lights go dooooown...", it gets to me so much... it's my favorite part! Urgh! Can't say enough good things about it! Bellow is my favorite performance of "When The Lights Go Down" at the 2002 CMA Awards Thanks for hosting this rankdown bboat11
Yay! Glad you included "Love Will Always Win"! That's on the Brazilian edition of Faith and I love it!

So glad I helped Cry win. WTLGD is so overrated. Right? I couldn't imagine if Cry lost! I would've put WTLGD at #10 if I knew it'd be close at all. Excited for Faith! It has my other favorite Faith Hill song besides Cry.

I'm actually quite surprised by the top five! I figured Stronger would have been #3, that one always seemed to get lots of love. I never thought If This Is The End would have been the highest ranking album track, but I like that one quite a bit, so that's a pleasant surprise. I also thought that Cry would dominate this one, I can't believe that When the Lights Go Down was actually in the running for so long!
Faith is such an amazing album. I'll probably get that one in soon. That one will probably be a little more difficult one for me because there are so many great songs that I'm going to have to put low on my list because it's such a solid album.

I’ll admit that I initially had mixed thoughts about Cry being the first album to be selected for the rankdown series because I remember not really being a fan of the songs overall back when it was first released (I was very much a strict neotraditional country fan even as a young boy/teen lol). Now that my taste in music is a little more varied I was able to listen to the album with a more open mind this time around and I definitely have a greater appreciation for the effort that went into making this. I left thinking that this album may have been ahead of its time when it was released in 2002 and I think someone even made this same comment at some point during the reveals. The final three songs just happened to be my top 3 as well and I’m thrilled that “If This Is The End” ended up being the highest placing album track because that was my favorite rediscovery. With that said, I’m excited to go back in time a bit to one of Faith’s earlier albums and one that I think really took her career to another level. I also remember this era quite well because she was out on tour with none other than George Strait at the time when he was doing his country music festival stadium shows and my mom and I ended up driving to Denver to catch one of the concerts so the album really has a sense of nostalgia for me

I just finished this one, and wow! I forgot what a solid album this one is. I haven't listened to a lot of these songs in quite a while, so there was definitely some nostalgia going on for me. This is one of those albums where there really isn't a single bad song...it was really rough putting such good songs in the double digits on my ranking.

Cry is such a fantastic album but what was with those results lol It didn't go well for me other than the ending.
Oh well it kept me on my toes reading the thread!

1) What will be #1? "This Kiss"
2) What will be #13? Probably either the bonus track or "Somebody Stand by Me"
3) Which songs will be in the top 5? Probably the 4 hit singles (so all minus "Love Ain't Like That"), plus maybe "My Wild Frontier" (*fingers crossed*). If not that one, "You Give Me Love."
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most: "Better Days" | Least: "This Kiss"
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (This Kiss, Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me, Let Me Let Go, Love Ain't Like That, The Secret Of Life) "This Kiss" @ #1
6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place? "Love Ain't Like That" somewhere around #9.
7) Where will the bonus track finish? (Love Will Always Win) #12 or #13 is my guess. It's a beautiful song though, but bonus tracks fare poorly in these so...
8) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? Either "My Wild Frontier" or "You Give Me Love" will sneak into the top 5.
9) Any predictions for which 5 album tracks will place highest, making it into the album tracks rankdown??? "My Wild Frontier," "You Give Me Love," "I Love You," "The Hard Way," and "Better Days"
10) Any other thoughts/predictions? Really hoping "My Wild Frontier" does well here. The best album cuts she's ever had imo.

2) What will be #13? "Better Days"
3) Which songs will be in the top 5? "This Kiss", "The Secret of Life", "Let Me Let Go", "Just to Hear You Say That You Love Me", and hopefully "My Wild Frontier"
4) What song will be most polarizing? "Love Ain't Like That" Least polarizing? "This Kiss"
5) Which of the singles will place highest and where will it place? "This Kiss" for the win
6) Which of the singles will place lowest and where will it place? "Love Ain't Like That" at #8
7) Where will the bonus track "Love Will Always Win" finish? Hopefully it outperforms our expectations and makes it as one of the top 5 album tracks
8) What will be the highest-placing album track and where will it place? "My Wild Frontier" and hopefully in the top 5
9) Any predictions for which 5 album tracks will place highest, making it into the album tracks rankdown??? "My Wild Frontier", "The Hard Way", "You Give Me Love", "Me", and I'll guess "Love Will Always Win"
10) Any other thoughts/predictions? I've never really dug my heels into Faith's albums so all of the songs minus the singles were first-time listens for me. "My Wild Frontier" was a standout for me and I think it might end up being one of my favorite album cuts from her.

10) Any other thoughts/predictions? It was nice to revisit this album. It also made me remember what a 'wtf' moment "Love Ain't Like That" was getting released as the fourth single, when surefire hits like "The Hard Way" remain as album tracks.

Sorry I wasn't able to start this the other night like I promised. I was out late with my family. Ready to knock out a couple reveals tonight though! "Somebody Stand By Me" was the most consistent last-place finisher of this rankdown. I do not think this song is horrible, however it was in my bottom 2... Honestly, I think this song just goes on too long and has a bit of a plodding melody. And the production is unnecessarily bombastic. If there was some sort of dynamic variation throughout the song, it could have been turned into an epic power ballad, but instead it is just a consistent wall of noise. 5 people nailed a perfect ranking for this song, however it does manage to take out a couple top 5s from ClevelandRox and Kanenrá:ke!

I wish I could go back to the very first day I saw you. Should've made my move when you looked in my eyes. 'Cause by now I know that you'd feel the way that I do, And you'd whisper these words as you'd lie here by my side.

"I Love You" was appearing to be the most likely last-place contender until "Somebody Stand By Me" took over, and then it literally never left the bottom 3. It did manage to garner more support than SSBM though, with top 5s from Troublemaker , @xfer , and .indulgecountry . This song is basically in the same boat as SSBM to me. Unnecessarily bombastic, plodding melody, lifeless production, etc. Faith turns in a really technically strong vocal performance here, but somewhere in the production process it got removed of all life. Other than the first three trumpet notes being identical to the iconic steel guitar notes of Martina's "A Broken Wing", the rest of this song is a disappointment. As andrewantonio stated so succinctly in his submission list, "Celine did it better."

Missing the top 10, we say goodbye to "Better Days". This song has a delicious country production to it, especially in comparison to the Hot AC vibe of the previous two reveals. This song has a memorable melody, but I found it to be a somewhat difficult song to rank. It was one that could have gone in my top 3 or bottom 3 depending on what mood I'm in. Ultimately I could see why this song might turn some people off, because the melody can feel a little campy, and the way she gutturally forces out the random high note in the middle of the chorus is not everybody's cup of tea. Still, this is a great song, so I am glad to see it escaped the clutches of the bottom 2 that it tried to get sucked into for awhile!

With that, say hello to your top 10! (Which just happens to be composed of the 5 singles + the 5 album tracks that made it into the album tracks rankdown!)

"I Love You" was ROBBED. Beautiful song. I agree that Celine's is probably better but Faith Hill's is still quite good imo.
