The public referred to him as Dead Wife Guy when he was on American Idol and tried to make every performance a sobfest for votes over his dead wife. It became so tacky/in terrible taste.

thank goodness, this song is not good at all! Cannot believe it made it to #22 on the Country charts. Cannot stand his voice at all I don't like the song at all but I am shocked to see distaste for his voice (not you specifically but you are now the second person in thread to say they don't like his voice lol). I guess his tone could be polarizing but he is an incredible vocalist, and he absolutely slayed his American Idol audition when he performed "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" by Marvin Gaye. I just wish he had stronger country material, at least as far as singles are concerned. Anyone could sing "My Best Days Are Ahead of Me" but he gave a phenomenal vocal on "I Will Not Say Goodbye" imo.

I personally don't see any problems with Danny Gokey, but his singles didn't do much for me anyways so I'm not too broken over these losses.

Is this too obvious of a hint for "Boys of Fall" lol. I sure hope it's that one cuz that's one of Kenny's worst. If it's not out now, be out soon plz

Just re-listen both Danny Gokey songs and I still think My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me is much better than the other song. His voice in two songs are not consistent though. However the "screaming" vocals in the other song (especially the bridge) are so tacky and so influenced from Idol and alike that I hate it. I think he is imitating somebody's vocals (John Mayer?) in My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me, and I can "get" these types of vocals now. Definitely prefer better vocalists though.

Lmao good to have both of Dead Wife Guy's songs out in the bottom 5! I've always loathed him. YES. I thought the exact same thing when I revisited his songs for this, I was like: "Oh it's that schmuck who always brought up his dead wife every chance he could." So cringey. And his voice sucked. I ranked both of his songs a little higher than where they ended up in the rankdown, but I can't complain at all about their early departure. We've had great country artists come out of American Idol like Kree Harrison who weren't picked up by a mainstream label after the show, and yet somehow this schmuck got a deal. #idontgetit

#121. Craig Morgan - "Still A Little Chicken Left On That Bone"
Total Points: 1,528 Average: 95.5 Year Released: October 11th, 2010 Mediabase Peak: #35 Billboard Peak: #37 Rankings:recordyear - 29 LBTrocks - 39 sabre14 - 73 George Strait Junkie - 85 gardyfan - 86 kw9461 - 87 .indulgecountry - 96 castleoblivion26 - 97 ClevelandRox - 99 g8erboi - 106 toomuchboy - 115 Cody Wants Out... - 121 Kanenrá:ke - 121 bboat11 - 124 someguy - 125 tim - 125 "He's 39 Way past his prime Came out of retirement Everybody said he done lost his mind They look at him now Packing in that crowd Just one more touchdown And he's Super Bowl bound"C'mon, the Brett Favre photo was way too easy of a hint for it to be "The Boys of Fall" lol. It does however fit perfectly with "Still a Little Chicken Left on That Bone", which actually was purposefully meant to describe Brett Favre's career comebacks with the Jets and Vikings.
"Still a Little Chicken Left on That Bone" was released in October of 2010 on what was supposed to be a new album for Craig Morgan off BNA Records. But the song only reached #35 on Mediabase in January of 2011 and he left Sony. He would sign later that year with Black River Entertainment. The song was written by Black Skip, Maher Brian Dean and Johnson Kenneth Sterling.
Craig kind of over-sings this one but idk, I can't hate this song lol. It's never been one of my favorites from him but I do enjoy it for what it is. Not surprised many here didn't like it though and was pretty polarizing at radio.

Glad I'm not the only one who never liked Gokey. I did grudgingly enjoy the ballad though... Even though it was more of his dead wife shtick.

#119. Tyler Dickerson - "Tell Your Sister I'm Single"
Total Points: 1,510 Average: 94.3 Year Released: February 16th, 2010 Mediabase Peak: #46 Billboard Peak: #47 Rankings:Cody Wants Out... - 38 Kanenrá:ke - 39 sabre14 - 51 kw9461 - 62 .indulgecountry - 71 George Strait Junkie - 93 bboat11 - 104 toomuchboy - 109 ClevelandRox - 111 LBTrocks - 113 someguy - 113 castleoblivion26 - 115 recordyear - 116 g8erboi - 123 gardyfan - 126 tim - 126 "Tell Your Sister I'm Single" was the debut single for Tyler Dickerson off Lyric Street Records in February of 2010. The song would peak at #46 on Mediabase in March. It was written by Trevor Rosen, Isaac Rich (John's brother) and Amanda Williams. The song was produced by John Rich. His parents and him went to Nashville in the mid-2000's and he was discovered by Lyric Street. After his second single, "She'd Be You" was issued to radio, Lyric Street Records folded.
In 2015, he auditioned for The Voice and was on Blake Shelton's team, who instantly remembered him from his Lyric Street days as a teenager. He was eliminated in the top 48.
This song was probably too polarizing for radio and it was a bit strange coming from a 16-year old but it's clearly meant to be funny, I've always enjoyed this one. I think Dickerson's vocals were perfect for it. It's a shame he never got another deal in Nashville, his voice is really strong.

It's a shame that Tyler never got to release "Cowboys & Soldiers". I think that could've broken him out, he certainly seemed to have lots of talent at a young age. "Tell Your Sister i'm Single" never really made sense as a debut single (it's fun for what it is though), but then again Lyric Street rarely did things that made sense.

#118. Williams Riley - "Country Livin'"
Total Points: 1,482 Average: 92.6 Year Released: September 21st, 2009 Mediabase Peak: #44 Billboard Peak: #43 Rankings:kw9461 - 40 LBTrocks - 65 sabre14 - 79 .indulgecountry - 82 bboat11 - 83 tim - 84 ClevelandRox - 91 George Strait Junkie - 96 someguy - 100 castleoblivion26 - 103 Kanenrá:ke - 104 Cody Wants Out... - 108 recordyear - 108 g8erboi - 109 gardyfan - 111 toomuchboy - 119 Williams Riley was a country band that originated in Louisiana. They were comprised of Steve Williams (lead vocals), Derek George, Charlie Hutto, Joe Rogers, Dave Guidry, Travis Thibodaux and Nick Buda. Williams, George and Hutto were the three main members. George is a producer-songwriter -- he produced Randy Houser's How Country Feels and co-produced Joe Nichols' Crickets albums.
"Country Livin'" was their second-career single off Golden Music Nashville in September of 2009. It peaked at #43 on Billboard in February of 2010. After their next single, "Makes Me Go (La La)", Golden Music closed and they would soon disband.
This song on the surface feels like just another country pride song but it's actually got a very creative arrangement and a great melody. These guys were super talented and unfortunately, they weren't on a strong label, which essentially ran out of money by 2010. I know Williams and George weren't that young either, had to be in their 30's or even 40's when this came out.

#117. Adam Brand - "Ready For Love"
Total Points: 1,482 Average: 92.6 Year Released: August 30th, 2010 Mediabase Peak: #44 Billboard Peak: #46 Rankings:ClevelandRox - 28 gardyfan - 61 toomuchboy - 65 George Strait Junkie - 75 kw9461 - 76 Cody Wants Out... - 82 g8erboi - 93 LBTrocks - 102 someguy - 103 bboat11 - 105 castleoblivion26 - 108 recordyear - 109 Kanenrá:ke 115 sabre14 - 117 tim - 118 .indulgecountry - 125 "Ready for Love" was the debut US single for Australian country music artist Adam Brand in August of 2010 off Arista Nashville. It peaked at #44 on Mediabase in November. Adam had released seven studio albums in Australia. It was off his album, There Will Be Love. It ended up becoming his only US charting radio single.
Like I mentioned with Danny Gokey, few artists I don't like because of their voice but Adam Brand is another. His vocals are pretty unbearable. It reminds me of Canadian-Scottish artist Johnny Reid, who I also don't like vocally lol.

I was all kinds of tickled by that "Ready For Love" music video. I couldn't tell if Adam wanted us to take it seriously or not. The over-the-top facial expressions and overall joyful exuberance really made this feel like one of those videos you would watch just to laugh at, lol.

Loved Williams Riley, but "Country Livin'" was by far their weakest single (so naturally it did the best on the charts). I still really enjoy it though - the melody is fantastic, which makes up for fairly forgettable lyrics. Their debut single, "I'm Still Me" remains one of my very favorite songs from that era. If I remember correctly, they got their record deal by winning a nationwide talent search (from ACC I believe).

"Still A Little Chicken Left On The Bone" is silly but dang it it's a rockin' little jam!
I would like "Whistlin' Dixie" way better if Randy Houser wasn't SHOUTING the chorus at me with his already grating voice.

#116. LoCash - "Here Comes Summer"

It peaked at #41 on Billboard in July. The song was written by Chris Lucas, Preston Brust, Jeffrey Steele and Shane Minor.
This one has always been enjoyable. LoCash isn't very popular here and they've had their fair share of awful songs but the melody and production on this one is great if you ask me. Lyrics aren't exactly noteworthy but they're descriptive enough and the song is clearly meant to be a fun diddy.

Total Points: 1,469 Average: 91.8 Year Released: June 28th, 2010 Mediabase Peak: #35 Billboard Peak: #34 Rankings:LBTrocks - 19 recordyear - 30 gardyfan - 32 George Strait Junkie - 52 sabre14 - 83 g8erboi - 91 ClevelandRox - 95 .indulgecountry - 103 Kanenrá:ke - 111 bboat11 - 120 someguy - 120 tim - 120 castleoblivion26 - 122 kw9461 - 122 toomuchboy - 124 Cody Wants Out... - 125 "Country Done Come To Town" was released in June of 2010 as the only single off John Rich's Rich Rocks EP. It was promoted through Reprise/Warner Music Nashville. The song was written by John and Vicky McGehee. It would also be the final solo single by John Rich before he reunited with Big Kenny for Big & Rich in 2011.
Lol, six ranks 120 or lower. I knew this one would have a lot of low ranks but it's fairly enjoyable as an upbeat rocker. Far from Big & Rich's best or even John's best but he knows how to write a good melody. McGehee is usually the lyrical mind when she's a co-writer.

Wow none of these deserved to be out so early
Especially “Country Done Come To Town” that song is a total jam omg. You people having an aversion to a song like this is mind boggling to me. I don’t know how you guys can keep from dancing or rocking out to this one cuz if this was playing at a country bar I would be on that dance floor in a heartbeat lol. I get it’s not some mind-blowing work of art but come on now.

Oh, I was going to guess Justin Moore! I like the majority of Justin's work, but "Backwoods" was just plain horrendous... "Hicky" is a good way to put it. Everything about the melody and his vocal performance was the epitome of grating to me.
