I love all of the top 5 except for “As She’s Walking Away” and “House” so both of those can kindly exit next, in that order. Sadly I could see “House” winning.
However, I’m going to make a bold prediction and say that “The Man I Want To Be” has this.
Also glad to see a Jason Aldean song in the top 5. “The Truth” is awesome.

Rooting for a Miranda Lambert or Chris Young win. All 3 of those songs are phenomenal. "The Truth" is Jason Aldean's best, but he's still a mediocre artist so I'd rather him not win this. I like "As She's Walking Away" alright, and like "The Truth" it is also one of ZBB's best, but I'd especially rather not see that one win given the options that are left.

#5. Chris Young - "The Man I Want To Be"

It reached #1 in May of 2010. The song was written by Brett James and Tim Nichols. It was Chris' second-career #1 song ("Gettin' You Home").
I like this one, maybe under-ranked it a few spaces. I did grow tired of it after a while. I do think this song is an example of what I miss about country radio, It sounds like something from the early 2000's. The steel guitar is front and present, the piano and fiddle usage and this is one of the best vocal performances I've heard from Chris.

Great song. Love the subject, terrific melody and the fiddle, lovely. This is one of ZBB's most-played recurrents since they broke out in 2008. It kind of sticks out nowadays next to the Thomas Rhett and Dustin Lynch's of the world, however lol.

This one just connected with so many people. It was a unique song that I hadn't really heard covered much before -- revisiting the house you grew up in. There's a certain feeling you get when you go back to your hold house or even neighborhood. I didn't think it would go on to be the biggest hit of 2010 but I knew Miranda had a hit here.

It reached #1 on Mediabase in January of 2010. Miranda wrote the song with Natalie Hemby. The music video features Jamey Johnson as the preacher.
Good song but I'm tired of it. This is actually a song we still play to this day. As much as I adore "Dead Flowers", I'm not sure why they didn't pick this song as the lead off that album, especially coming off a song like "More Like Her."
This was sitting at #1 at certain points of the submission process and was at worst #3. It ends up finishing #2.

#1. Jason Aldean - "The Truth"
Total Points: 345 Average: 21.5 Year Released: September 28th, 2009 Mediabase Peak: #1 Billboard Peak: #1 Rankings:sabre14 - 2 ClevelandRox - 3 g8erboi - 7 castleoblivion26 - 8 gardyfan - 8 tim - 13 Kanenrá:ke - 16 toomuchboy - 16 LBTrocks - 17 recordyear - 18 kw9461 - 20 .indulgecountry - 23 Cody Wants Out... - 29 someguy - 30 bboat11 - 47 George Strait Junkie - 88 Following: Mylo13 💜"The Truth" was released as the third single off Jason Aldean's Wide Open album in September of 2009. It reached #1 in February of 2010. The song was written by Brett James and Ashley Monroe. Aldean said that "The Truth" was his favorite songs on Wide Open and one of the favorites of his career.
This is my favorite Aldean single. His first two albums were great and beats anything he's put out since (some of it by a long shot) but "The Truth" was the big exception on his third record. It easily could've gone on one of his first two records. The melody is outstanding and I love the spin on the subject and lyrics. It's very similar to the Brice Long and Chris Cagle song, "Anywhere But Here", which somehow didn't turn into it a hit for either artist back in 2005-2006.
I'm surprised Aldean pulled it out but this only had one ranking below 50, which usually indicates a guaranteed top 5 placement and was able to stay ahead of Miranda's songs.
Thanks for playing along everyone. :)

Fantastic songs either way! If Jason had released more songs like this throughout his career I'd be a fan for sure.

Very happy for The Truth, I assumed it would get more hate just because it's Jason Aldean. For me, it's his best song next to Why. I second Kanenrá:ke that it would be completely different if he still recorded songs like this today and not the same generic drivel again and again.

Disappointing outcome. This is Jason Aldean's best song, but it still PALES in comparison to both of those Miranda Lambert hits. I wish I would've ranked Jason lower.

Maybe Jason should record more songs written by women that are just more emotional than his macho songs. Thanks sabre14 for hosting and highlight some underrated gems!

I think the majority of us were expecting “The House That Built Me” to win but both of the two songs in the final two are great and I always like to see a wildcard winner. While I thought “The Truth” was a likely top 10 contender I honestly would’ve guessed that Jason’s name alone would gather enough detractors to keep it out of the top 5. I usually make a point to comment along with the reveals but somehow got so far behind on this one I just wasn’t able to catch up but I for sure was following along all the way. I can’t say there were a lot of surprises but I’m glad that Clay Walker made it into the top 15 with “She Won’t Be Lonely Long” as it’s not only one of my favorites by him but it’s a song that I still hear very regularly down here in Texas…if I were to guess I’d say I hear it weekly! I also wasn’t expecting James Wesley’s “Real” to make it into the top 50 as the song makes me roll my eyes and I agree with what ClevelandRox had to say about it as far as comparing real life struggles to titles of reality shows (and this beat "Twang"?!?). Thanks again sabre14 for the hosting duties!

welp my prediction that Chris Young was gonna take this got blown out of the water immediately in the top 5, lol. SHOCKED that Jason Aldean managed to beat TWO Miranda Lambert tunes. I mean, I know it's a song of his that people here like, but I still didn't think it would gather enough support to make it all the way to the top. Also, sorry guys, but I can't even feel bad for my incredibly low rankings for the Zac Brown Band songs. I really cannot stand them or their music. I hate Zac's voice too, which makes it worse. I get the love for "As She's Walking Away" mostly due to the fiddle but I still can't stand it, and Alan Jackson isn't one of my favorite vocalists either, so it's just not my cup of tea. And "Highway 20 Ride" is a song I can never remember how it goes after I listen to it. Again, I find Zac's delivery bland, boring, unfeeling, and emotionless... they are talented musicians but the music + vocals = a big fat no for me. Thanks for hosting sabre14 this was a fun year!
