Martina McBride Kicking things off for us is four time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year winner Martina McBride! She released four studio albums during this time as well as her first Greatest Hits compilation that featured four new songs that all went to the top 10 including her fifth and final number one single "Blessed". Martina became one of the most recognizable voices on country music radio during this time releasing a string of hits including "In My Daughter's Eyes", "How Far", "Anyway", and a cover of the Lynn Anderson hit "I Never Promised You A (Rose Garden)".
As with the previous rankdowns I selected a theme song of which helped to guide me in the decision making progress of deciding which songs to showcase and for this one I selected Martina's hit "This One's for the Girls" as a salute to all women dealing with the struggles of different phases of life.

Deana Carter The winner of the 90’s Women of Country rankdown returns again! After signing with a new label she released her third studio album in 2002 which featured her first hit single in three years “There’s No Limit”. She would continue to release music with an independent label including The Story of My Life and a cover album The Chain.
I’ve selected the title track to Deana’s album I’m Just A Girl which was a top 40 hit in early 2003.

Lee Ann Womack Our next artist Lee Ann Womack returns after surprising everyone in the 90’s Women of Country rankdown with a second place finish for her hit “I’ll Think of a Reason Later”. With the success of her third studio album I Hope You Dance in 2000 she would go on to receive multiple nominations and awards including Single and Song of the Year at both the CMA and ACM Awards as well as winning the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year award in 2002. Her follow-up album Something Worth Leaving Behind wasn’t met with as much success as it was an attempt to capture on the crossover success of its predecessor.
Lee Ann returned to her roots with her next album There’s More Where That Came From which spawned the hit single “I May Hate Myself in the Morning”. She would go on to win Album of the Year and Single of the Year honors at the CMA Awards in 2005.
I had a few songs in mind to feature for Lee Ann but in the end there really was only one that fit in perfectly with the concept of this rankdown and that’s the iconic “I Hope You Dance”.

Reba McEntire The winner of the 80's Ladies of Country rankdown and top 3 finisher in the 90's Women of Country rankdown makes her return yet again and really needs no introduction. Reba McEntire returned in 2001 to release her third greatest-hits album which featured 12 of her biggest hits from the 1990s as well as some additional new material including a cover of the Kenny Rogers song "Sweet Music Man". After a two-year break from recording she released "I'm Gonna Take That Mountain" in 2003 which was lead single for her twenty-sixth studio album Room to Breathe. The second single "Somebody" would go on to take Reba back to the top of the charts and became her first number one single in over six years. Another compilation album Reba #1s was released in late 2005 and celebrated thirty years of work in the music industry that included songs from her early years at Mercury Records along with her hits with MCA. After departing MCA Records Reba signed with Valory Music Group and released her twenty-eighth studio album Keep On Loving You. The album would spawn her highest-debuting single of her career "Strange" along with "Consider Me Gone" which went on to spend four weeks at number one and one of the biggest hits of her career.
Selected from Reba's discography for this rankdown is both "I'm A Survivor" and the Kelly Clarkson duet "Because of You" released from her Reba:Duets album.

SHeDAISY The country music group consisting of three sisters better known as SHeDAISY make their return with another showcase in the new millennium. Their sophomore album Knock On The Sky spawned two top 30 hits including "Get Over Yourself" and "Mine all Mine" but failed to match the success of their debut record. That would change with the release of their third album Sweet Right Here in 2004 that saw both it's lead single "Passenger Seat" and second single "Come Home Soon" peak inside the top 15 on the country charts. The groups fourth and final album Fortuneteller's Melody was released in 2006 with it's lead single "I'm Taking the Wheel" becoming their final top 25 hit. Most recently featured in austin 's SHeDAISY's singles rankdown is their top 10 hit "Don't Worry 'bout a Thing".

Chely Wright Chely Wright entered the new millennium riding on the success from which "Single White Female" brought her in 1999. She would release her fifth studio album Never Love You Enough in late 2001 which would go on to spawn two top 30 singles including the title track. After parting ways with MCA Chely signed with Vivation where she released "The Back of the Bottom Drawer" but never saw an album materialize. In 2004 Chely recorded "The Bumper of My SUV" with her own music group which eventually led to her signing with Dualtone and releasing The Metropolitan Hotel in 2005.
Selected is Chely's final top 25 hit "Jezebel" which is about a woman confronting another woman with whom her man is having an affair...how scandalous!

Sara Evans With the release of her third studio album, Born To Fly, in late 2000 Sara Evans stormed into the new millennium with a new sound. The albums title track and lead single became Sara's second number one country hit and would spawn four additional hits including "I Could Not Ask For More" and my personal favorite "Saints & Angels". The album has since become her highest-selling album of all time and became one of the most successful releases of that year. Buoyed from the album's success she would go on to receive five CMA nominations in 2001 including Female Vocalist and Album, Single, and Song of the Year honors while taking home her very first CMA Award for Video of the Year. She released her much anticipated fourth studio album, Restless, in 2003 which included the #2 peaking single "Perfect" as well as "Suds in the Bucket" which has since gone on to become one of her signature songs. Sara's fifth album, Real Fine Place, would see her pick up her fourth number one single with "A Real Fine Place To Start" as well as the top 10 hit "Cheatin'". With all of the success Sara saw in the early 2000's she would go on to pick up her first Top Female Vocalist award from the ACM's in 2006 as well as release her first Greatest Hits compilation which featured the hit "As If". Showcased from her amazing group of songs is "Backseat of a Greyhound Bus" which was also a top 5 finisher in .indulgecountry 's Sara Evans rankdown.

Love Jennifer and was so happy I got a chance to meet her earlier this year! Her live vocals are so soothing!
Glad Sherrie is included, she's often forgotten but I've loved all her output!
"Simple Love" is among Alison's best so I'm glad to see it here!
"Forever & For Always" is a great song that has been overplayed to death for me but I can't help but sing along.
Patty's final albums from this decade were all stunning but nothing beat OYWH in my opinion!
All that to say I love this group!
