That awkward feeling when you're both a Sara stan AND a Martina stan Personally rooting for Backseat of a Greyhound Bus but I'll be very happy to see Martina win as well!

I'm so disappointed that I never found the time to finish this, but I am so glad these are the top 2 songs. Honestly, both are so nostalgic for me. "When God Fearin' Women get the Blues" is the song that made me a Martina fan, while "Backseat of the Greyhound Bus" is my favorite Sara Evans song and always has been. It could not be a more perfect top 2 for me and I don't even know who I want to win. If I was betting I would bet on Sara's song though.

I'm legit stunned that "God Fearin'" is not only still in this but that it's a possible threat to win this thing. I really expected that one to be one of our first casualties inside the top 10. I am very much rooting for "Backseat" here for obvious reasons, and while I like the Martina song, I really don't think it's one of her best. I vastly prefer her other song in this RD that was eliminated much earlier. :/

Let's finish this up shall we! Both of the final two songs were #1 contenders with one coming in as the second least polarizing song of the rankdown and neither getting any bottom 5's...

Backseat of a Greyhound Bus I envisioned a video back in the day of her falling in love with the paramedic that helped deliver her baby and her staying in that town. <3 But I'm torn because I would love Martina to win for bboat11 after the Independence Day robbery. 😒 I'll be happy either way :) Thanks for a great rankdown tim!

1. "Backseat of a Greyhound Bus" ~ Sara Evans Staring at the rest of her life She never thought this would be the place Where she would find her saving grace But she fell in love On the backseat of a greyhound bus Total: 276 Average: 13.8 Std Dev: 13.54

In what was truly a closer race than I thought it would end up being and with both of the final two songs being #1 contenders “Backseat of a Greyhound Bus” comes out on top while “When God-Fearin’ Women Get the Blues” comes in a close second as well as having the designation of the second least polarizing song of the rankdown! This is the first win for “Backseat of a Greyhound Bus” which previously came in at #7 in the 2003 YE Rankdown and was a Top 5 finisher in her artist rankdown hosted by .indulgecountry. “When God-Fearin’ Women Get the Blues” most recently finished runner-up as well in bboat11’s Martina McBride’s Extras Rankdown and finished just inside the Top 10 in her artist rankdown. This won’t be the last time you’ll see them, however, as one is still in contention in a future 2001 YE Rankdown with the other to be featured in Sara’s Restless album rankdown.

¡ENCORE!
Lee Ann Womack ”Have You Seen That Girl” But a few wrong moves led to a few wrong turns And once your burned your not the same You tend to shy from the flame I hate to think shes giving up her dream
Patty Loveless "She Never Stopped Loving Him" She stops and says "Since you've been gone I have thought how life must go on" Then she topped and placed a rose on his stone Then left him alone But she never stopped lovin' him
Miranda Lambert "Desperation" Tell it like a lie, live it like a movie Give a heart away like it don't mean nothin' to me What's the use of making all the plans that we made if you weren't gonna go? What's the use of slapping on a smile for a face if your eyes don't wanna show?
Martina McBride "House of a Thousand Dreams" The crickets always sing outside the windows And I love to feel the wind blow through the screen And I sure hope that we can live forever In this house of a thousand dreams"
Sara Evans "Missing Missouri" I wanna be with my family Instead of stuck out on this road I'm on Every time my bus wheels hit the boot hill There's no limelight, and I'm alright 'Cause I'm almost home

YAAAAAASSSSSSS!!!!! While I absolutely love both artists and both songs, I do NOT love WGFWGTB as much as I love BOAGB. So happy Sara won this!!
(Let the record show that my rankings contradict this statement because I failed to swap the two out in my list before sending it in--but honestly in a list of nearly 60 songs, #11 and #20 are equally like a tie for like #3 or something so I don't think it would have mattered in the end. Also because the ending of Sara's song did get a bit repetitive to me before fading out. Regardless of the ranks, it's still one of my favorite songs from Sara!)

Ladies and Gents I proudly present to you your newest Queen of Country Sara Evans! She joins the previous two winners Reba McEntire (80s Ladies of Country) and Deana Carter (90s Women of Country) both of whom won for their songs "Whoever's in New England" and "Strawberry Wine"!!

I want to thank everyone who participated and followed along going back to when I first kicked this off way back in June! I had so much fun doing this and it really has become a labor of love I also want to send out a special thanks to both Kanenrá:ke and bboat11 who provided me additional insight into the song selections and helped to ensure that I didn't leave out anyone! I'm already in the beginning stages of the next series so you can expect to see a rankdown sometime next year for the 2010s Women of Country! Thanks again everyone

Wooohoo, what a fantastic finish!!!! I never in a million years expected a Martina/Sara top 2, because neither WGFWGTB or BOAGB are among their most well-remembered songs; both have kinda been lost in the shuffle among much bigger hits that they had around the same time period. I vastly prefer Martina's song, but I had no doubt at all that Sara would win between the two because she is way more of a Pulse favorite. And I am not at all disappointed! Anytime one of my favorites wins a rankdown my heart gets warm and full, and in this case my two favorite vocalists of all time managed to share the top 2 Perfect finish to a fun rankdown!

Great top 10. I would have gone for "Kerosene" for the win because of the fire. No travesties in this RD. maybe I'll try the next one?

Thanks for hosting tim and I can't wait for the 2010s queen to be crowned! (Will it be Carrie? Kacey? Miranda? Ashley McBryde? Can't wait to find out!)

Good call-and-response from fiddles on the lyrics "Where do you go?/On your way home" The rankdown top 2 are my favorite discovery from the rankdown. When God-Fearin' Women Get The Blues is my favorite Martina McBride song from the rankdowns (aside from Independence Day) by far! It is perfectly chaotic yet hilarious (especially that music video). The way she growls in the first verse...! Backseat Of A Greyhound Bus is an epic song! Featuring just right amount of orchestra.
Also might as well do a simple list on these encores lol
