The reveals tonight practically targeted me! I lost so many high songs. BUT the most important thing is that I can't believe Crucify didn't make the rankdown and finished up as an extra. But to be honest, I had forgotten about the song lol It would have been in my top 10 or maybe top 5.

The Life of Riley The Lightning Seeds
Oooo! P-P-P-P-Perfect ranking! By the way, my favorite song by The Lightning Seeds comes from this era. It's the title track to their 1992 album, and it never appeared on any U.S. chart, but it was a Top 40 hit in the U.K.: EXTRA
So What'cha Want Beastie Boys
Share your thoughts about this song below! This is my favorite Beastie Boys song. I actually enjoy the distorted vocals, because they work well with the slower tempo. The organ is a nice touch, and the music video has a tornado in it, which is cool. EXTRA
Crucify Tori Amos
Share your thoughts about this song below! A very stark, minimalist arrangement. All it is is vocals, piano and percussion. The lyrics are very heavy and dark too. Come to think of it, 1992 was an excellent year for melancholia in music. EXTRA
Sex on Wheelz My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult

What You Do to Me Teenage Fanclub
Chart Peak: #19 Chart Weeks: 4
Share your thoughts about this song below! I would’ve been much kinder to this than it’s sister songs...this is really the only song by this band I like as far as Lush is concerned ... I do quite like “For Love” but this rankdown was chock-full of great songs ... I admit I underranked it, and let nostalgia cloud my judgement on putting other songs higher

Boy do I have some catching up to do. Also quite a few of us still have that pesky #100 song around floating around. 55. Haven't Got a Clue - DramaramaObviously the stronger Dramarama song, but still not good enough for top 40. 54. Until the End of the World - U2I was really pleased with all the the U2 entries for this 1992 year, but this was the weakest of the U2 songs. Musically it was alright, but not very memorable. 53. Not Enough Time - INXSThis song is alright. there really isn't enough time for me to explain why I loved 80's INXS 100x more than 90's INXS. 52. Always the Last to Know - Del AmitriI really enjoyed this one. Don't remember it , but sounded really melodic. probably even better than "Roll With It". 51. The Life of Riley - The Lightning Seeds This style of modern rock is the closest to the 80's sound. I'll usually upgrade this vibe. 50. Glamorous Glue - MorrisseyThis is the first Morrissey song to fall? He did good that year. Love the bluesy rock vibe this song had 49. Born of Frustration - Jamesoh I love this song. Even more than "Laid". I'd say the British kept the Alternative style interesting during the early 90's. Between Hair Metal and these songs I was still able to live out my 80's fantasies in the 90's. 48. Girlfriend - Matthew Sweet90's Powerpop rock was also very enticing. Mathew was doing his best to channel Hendrix here. At least with the guitars he was doing just fine. 47. Lifetime Piling Up - Talking HeadsThis song is good. I knew it from before and It really stood out among all the first time listens on this list. I liked that it played around with some Bowie vibes in the musical arrangements. 46. Fear (Of the Unknown) - Siouxsie and the Banshees..and of course The wrong one exits first. My favorite songs all easily made my top 50. This one was really good. Loved the melody. lands about where I think it should too. 45. Far Gone and Out - The Jesus and Mary Chain"Fun Noise Pop tune" is why I put it in my top 40. 44. Mysterious Ways - U2Looks like we all upgraded the correct classic. This is still a great song. Loved the psychedelic realm this song tapps into. Putting this song in the bottom 10 just seems like a personal vendetta? Also I stand behind "One". Its a classic Alternative Rock ballad done right. 43. The Concept - Teenage FanclubThis was pretty cool first listen. In some parts it kinda sounded like a mellow grunge song, but I was able to detect enough melody out of this one even to a point where I could see Green Day doing a cover. 42. We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful - MorrisseyDammit! I hate it when my friends don't upgrade the best Morrissey song on the list. Thank goodness The British did all they could to keep the 80's breathing in the 90's. 41. For Love - Lushseems I shared the same brainwaves with members I don't usually make a musical connection with. Glad we all connected with these heavenly vocals tho. I echo the sentiment with being surprised especially at those particular low rankers. Did you all listen to a techno industrial version of the song or something?

Gonna dedicate the rest of the night to last night's and tonight's extras. Most all first time listens too, so hopefully I can wear out the thumbs up button? Drown - The Smashing Pumpkinsnever heard this before tonight. Sounded like 5 Smashing Pumpkins' song put together, but 5 really good Pumpkins classic so its all good. Horror Head - CurveI was not aware there was life before Garbage. Sounds like one of those song I would shoot into my top 40. Love the extras she is doing with her vocals the most. Pain Lies on the Riverside - LiveThis was slightly better than "Operation Spirit" but still sounds like it suffers from production wise. I might have liked this band more with a different singer? Divine Intervention - Matthew SweetMathew Sweet really knew how to make his guitar talk. I mean The guitar adds personality to this song. Another easy top 35 song on my list. Suck You Dry - Mudhoney The only way PULSE would accept a song called "Suck You Dry" is if it was a grunge song. The music is pretty fierce tho. I won't lie. Justified and Ancient - The KLF f/Tammy WynetteI mean is anyone surprised to know I would have stuck this in my bottom tank. I hate the KLF. Tammy is country and who the hell where the rest of the yodelers? Mesmerise - ChapterhouseMusic is nice ,but those percussion effix are numbing. Goodbye Cruel World - Shakespear's SisterSounds like another "clubby" travesty to me. Even Flow - Pearl JamThis song is decent. I could have worked with it on the Alternative rock list, but I can't promise anything when I'm ranking my Mainstream Rock list. Sorry About the Weather - Mark CurryHorrible production. Sounds like someone taped it off the widescreen at their local coffee shop. Pity cuz the song has enough melody to keep me interested. A Dream Like Mine - Bruce CockburnThis guy was supposed to inject jazzy sounds into his songs? Didn't get that vibe, but i did get a nice 80's Dire Straits vibe. I Want to Touch You - Catherine WheelNot bad at all. Nice guitar arrangements. Sounds like a shoegaze song following a poprock lyrical melody, but I like it. Nowhere as stellar as "Black Metallic". All I Want - Toad the Wet SprocketOnce again who the hell was tallying up Billboards Alt YE list? This was #6 on KROQ YE list and #18 on 91x. I also gave it a peak of #7 on my charts, so it also made my top 100. Also where the hell is "Walk On The Ocean"? Saturday - The JudybatsA bit Poprocky, but the vocals didn't quite sing to me.

Extras Part 2:Blowing Bubbles - The Lightning SeedsI must have this cassette tape lying around in my connection, cuz I want to recall this song? mellow but not bad. The wonderfull melody blinds me to the questionable percussion. So What'cha Want - Beastie BoysThis song has ruined many of my nights. Picture this: I'm having the time of my life at my favorite Strip bar when all the sudden the deejay decides it a good idea to throw these three vocal wonders as the next song.#1. Do I ignore it ,and continue in my perfect zone of debauchery? or #2. throw away the rest of my dollar bills , down the rest of my beer, and quickly head for the nearest exit? You all know exactly where I would stick this song. The real question here is would I have a different #100 song? :kii: Asleep at the Wheel - Suicidal TendenciesPart of my might have put this higher because of who they are, but this sounds more Grunge than Punk. Stone Me - Wire TrainNice guitars , but really bad vocals. It sounds like he is just reading them off the cue cards. Are the the lyrics running at the bottom of the Music video? I rest my case. Please Yourself - The Darling Budsidk.. She kinda sounds like that Bjork chick. Who ever this is it sounds like shes giving someone a manicure while she's trying to sing. No emotion at all. The backup singers sound better. Sometimes - Midnight OilDifferent sound for Midnight Oil. This might be the most I have enjoyed them since "Beds Are Burning" era? I swear the lead singer reminds me of Michael Berryman. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_BerrymanWhat You Do to Me - Teenage FanclubWow! I might like this one even better than "Star Sign"? This band has a really great sounding vocalist...and how about that out of blue outro? Crucify - Tori AmosI always wanted to like her music more as she is quite a looker, but this vibe just doesn't get my spirits running. I kinda liked the chorus tho. First We Take Manhattan - R.E.M. This one is quite alright. I liked the R.E.M. harder guitar songs way more tan some of their mellow hits. The Statue Got Me High - They Might Be Giants Got a really cool fun vibe from this one. Sex on Wheelz - My Life With the Thrill Kill KultWell Well Well...I wasn't expecting this sex charged wonder on this batch of extras. Sounds like the hard rock version of a B-52's song with hyped up Pete Burns vocals. Definitely in my top half. I'm thinking high 30's would be a realistic slot on my list. Quite an enticing mesh of sounds. I had to look up what this band looked like. Stinkin' Thinkin' - Happy MondaysThis stunk royaly. This song sounds like a sure fire Bankrupter of record labels. Success Has Made a Failure of Our Home - Sinéad O'ConnorUnpopular opinion but I never got the Sinead O' Conner craze. She didn't even write her big hit. It was Prince who wrote it. Besides didn't The Pope kill her career. You Woke Up My Neighborhood - Billy BraggThis was pretty cheesy. Sounded like an Alternative Hoedown.

Alright XFER, back off of that bottom spot for Year End Closeness. That's my spot Edition:
55. Haven't Got a Clue---Well, they didn't have one when it came to opening this song alright. Was fine with the guitar solo, but the chorus vocals were clueless.
54. Until the End of the World---Good storytelling from U2 leads to a solid song. I was honestly thinking we'd have more than 2 of these in the top half...
53. Not Enough Time---Wasn't expecting you to be so harsh to INXS. I felt like the mix of piano and Michael's vocals really sealed the deal for me.
52. Always the Last to Know---Finally! The protagonist cheated on her and he's still wondering about her. You had your chance, next! Might be somewhat kinder to Roll to Me because it subs Singles You Up for Hotline Bling/Don't Wanna Know...an improvement although not a great one.
51. The Life of Riley---I had no idea it was about this one guy's son. Well, it was pleasant enough anyway.
50. Glamorous Glue---This was my favorite of the Morrissey songs for this round. Nice blend of vocals and instrumentation.
49. Born of Frustration---I just might not get James. I enjoyed the horns and the vocals were fine outside of the post-chorus when they grew obnoxious for me.
48. Girlfriend---What in the everloving name of rock is going on here? The guitar work was strong, the vocals added a nice punch...this was great!
47. Lifetime Piling Up---The vocal work in the chorus was fine. David Byrne's singing in the verses was messy.
46. Fear of the Unknown---There were some interesting vocals at work here. The song wasn't half bad.
45. Far Out and Gone---This got off to a promising start. But the instruments and sound effects drowned out the vocals taking out much of the promise.
44. Mysterious Ways---This doesn't make top 40? I'm shocked. This had a nice psychedelic groovy rock feel to it. Hopefully you're kinder to this on Active?
43. The Concept---This was a nicely chill song, but it did go on a bit long.
42. We Hate It When Our Friends are Successful---I hate that you went the opposite way from me when it comes to this artist. I enjoyed the lyrics and the singing was good enough here.
41. For Love---This was pleasant enough, but the guitars tended to drown out the vocals keeping me from giving more love to this.
Extras:
So Whatcha Want might be sneakily one of my favorite Beastie songs. The low-fi sound and in your face rapping mesh well together and the guitars really aid this one along as well.
I gave 30 seconds to Stinkin' Thinkin' and yeah, it did stink alright. 30 seconds to Sinead's Success Made a Failure Out of Our Home wasn't nearly as bad; I think her career died when she ripped up that photo of the pope on SNL.

None of U2's songs on this rankdown deserved to be in the bottom 50. "These Are Days" and "Teen Angst" were robbed too.

Tonight's reveals will definitely induce...quite a bit of tension ( Web). Let's start with #40. The 18th highest SD. Six people are losing top 20s. Two are top 10s. Worst of all, one of them's a #1. Only ten bottom half ranks here. Three are bottom 20s...and both of its bottom 10s are bottom 5s.

XTC are capable of much better than this, but this is still pretty good. I hope we get to the mid-80's, because I might just rank them top 20 or higher every time we see them.

There are only two songs remaining that don't have a top 10 rank, and #39 is one of them.
Five people will be losing top 20s, however, with 13 top half ranks in total. No bottom 10s, but there are a couple of bottom 20s.

Even this is kind of low for where I would normally expect to rank Siouxsie. This is more along the lines of what they're capable of, but the Banshees are capable of much better than this.
I mean, 1991 is a prime example. cough

#38 is almost in top-20-highest-SD territory.
It would probably be up there if any of its three top 10s were top 5s, or if any of its four bottom 20s were bottom 10s. But neither of those are the case. That being said, two of the few people that have yet to lose a top 10 will take their first hit here.

Alright, now it's time for a top 20 highest SD.
#37 is the 19th highest. Only three top 10s are shed, and two of those are low top 10s. The other one, though? It's a #1.
Four bottom 20 ranks...three are bottom 15s (both close to being bottom 10s), one is a bottom 10 5.

Let's cool down with #36, which is on the lower end of the SD spectrum.
A top 5 and another top 10 are still being lost though, as are three other top 20s. There's only one bottom 20 here, and it's a bottom 10 clearer.
