55. Haven't Got A Clue (15): A personal chart-topper that I still use to this day. Love the melody, music and vocals here. Miles better than their other song in this RD. A real bummer that it didn't make the top half. 54. Until the End of the World (62): Not a bad song, just my least favorite of their singles this era. 53. Not Enough Time (38): Far from INXS' best, but my favorite off the bunch in this RD for sure. (I do like BG and EW more than this one, though.) 52. Always The Last To Know (60): Nice little melodic, poppy song, much better than RTM, but I gave more points to songs that were a bit more interesting. 51. The Life of Riley (12): Geez! I feared this may sound a bit too pop for many, but I still hoped it'd make the top 50. A personal chart-topper, and my second favorite Lightning Seeds single (after Pure). I love the dance and guitar musical combo, lyrics, vocals, and overall pure melodic bliss of this song. Another song that should've made the top half. 50. Glamorous Glue (66): I"m a Morrissey / Smiths fan, but some of their songs sound a bit half-baked. This is one of them. 49. Born On Frustration (6): Oh, gee! It's hard to say which James song I like the most, but I know this is up there with Sounds, Sometimes, and Say Something, 48. Girlfriend (61): Another little cute poppy song, but not strong enough for a top half placement... 47. Lifetime Piling Up (49): Well, good to see that at least one of Byrnes/Talking Heads songs made the top half. 46. Fear (76): Overall, I like Siouxsie. She has great, unique songs in the 80s and 90s. This was not one of them Her vocals feel especially jarring in this style, and the song sounds more generic than unique. Good to see it finally leave! 45. Far Gone and Out (27): This was my favorite discovery in this RD. 44. Mysterious Ways (21): The music and production of this one is ACE. It reached #2 in my personal chart. Well, at least there is till one more U2 song in this RD. 43. The Concept (48): Cool song. Fair position. 42. We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful (10): A personal chart-topper and one of my favorite Morrissey songs. Short and sweet, but also dynamic and interesting despite its short length. 41. For Love (54): Good discovery. This had potential, but didn't fully grab me.

Surprised Alive didn’t make year end since KROQ often puts it as Pearl Jam’s top one or two songs on all time countdowns.
Breaking the Girl would’ve been my #2.
Wish I had submitted a ballot since it would’ve made a difference for Enya to make Top 25 as my #1. Shocked that this song was #12 in 1992 alt year-end list, versus barely sneaking in as a fluke. Do people remember ever hearing it on alt radio?

...so what the hell was this about Justice would have been if this finished in the bottom 10. For me, Enya recorded one big long song and each of her albums is one chunk. Happy that some my favorites are still in.

40. The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead (20): Actually, this was the first song I ever heard by XTC, and I don't think I've heard many more from them. It was a big hit back home, and a personal chart-topper that I still listen to. 39. Face To Face (36): The closest to Siouxsie's earlier magic. Its mysterious vibe in music and vocals worked pretty well as a soundtrack song. 38. Star Sign (78): I didn't hate it, but I felt there was a big disconnect between the music and vocals. It was like a testosterone-less Green Day, with a simple and repetitive melody. Harmless but also forgettable. 37. Poison Heart (17): This is the total opposite to #38. Strong rock instrumentation, with strong vocals, and strong melody. This made the runner-up position in my personal chart, and it's been a regular listen in my personal playlist, especially in road trips :) The fact that it's just one spot above Star Sign is 36. Tomorrow (51): The best part of the song for me is that 'tell me that you love me' bit. Good enough song, but not in my top 10 songs by Morrissey. 35. Someday? (42): I remember liking this quite a lot back in 1992, but I hadn't heard it in over 20 years. Good re-listen. Vocals and music were pretty good. 34. Love (55): I like their chill vibe, similar to 10,000 Manics chill vibe, but more in songs like Summertime. This felt a bit half-baked. 33. Ripple (74): Maybe I was expecting too much, as I LOVE Under The Milky Way. It wasn't a strong first listen. Maybe more listens would've made me rank it a bit higher. The music was pretty good, but melody and vocals were not as strong to me. 32. One (2): Of course, one of the best rock ballads of the 1990s didn't make the top quarter SMH. Superb vocals, strong production, good lyrics. I'm baffled at this leaving before the couple of industrial noises that remain... bottom 10 for this song is ridiculous 31. Into The Fire (50): Good enough song, but not among my top 5 by Sarah. Won't complain at seeing it this high. 30. Only Love Can Break Your Heart (70): This was an interesting cover. I liked the dance vibe, but it got a bit too repetitive. 29. Sheela-Na-Gig (99): YAY!!!! This was a first listen and a clear bottom 5 for me. The melody throughout the song was awful to me. And her vocals were even flat in the verses. The guitars were solid, I'll give it that, but I don't get any pleasure at hearing this stuff. A big fat pass. 28. Digging in the Dirt (30): I wasn't a fan of this song when I first heard it. It didn't make my personal chart -whereas Steam made the top 5. As with other PG's songs, I've grown to like it and appreciate its uniqueness with time. I especially like his vocals here. 27. Laid So Low (14): ?! This was their final song to top my personal chart. I've always loved the music and production for this song. Quite a fresh, modern, electrified take on T4F music. Still sounds great. It should've definitely been higher than BIDA. 26. Caribbean Blue (8): I'm actually surprised she lasted this long in this RD, as I was expecting it to be undeservedly tanked like Annie Lennox was. This is a great song on its own, and one of Enya's best. I've been a fan of Enya since Sail Away, and I have kept up-to-date with her releases since Paint The Sky With Stars.

40. The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead - XTCSee at the bottom of the music video where it reads classic. That should have been a clue to put this jam in your top 30. My all time favorite is still "Senses Working Overtime". Seems a little odd to choose for a number one song, but then again so does mine we we finally reveal it. 39. Face to Face - Siouxsie and the BansheesThis song was alright, but the other one was 80's stronger. 38. Star Sign - Teenage FanclubI just couldn't squeeze this one into my top 40. Good song but takes its time with that intro. I pretty much ignored the intro when giving it that high #43. basically the song starts at 1:17 mark. 37. Poison Heart - RamonesEasily my favorite Alternative Rock song on this list. There is no STP on this list so I didn't see a clear #1 for my list until I saw this song. I love the Ramones, and this seemed like the best choice for me to put at #1. The song did not make KROQ nor 91x top 100 YE list but I saw it a lot on MTV and in the movie. I still have my CD single of this song. Now for the rant. This out before that awful noize I have at #100 is a full on WTF? 36. Tomorrow - MorrisseyAnother great song for Morissey. All we are doing is killing off all the great British music of 1992. At least The Cure is still intact. 35. Someday? - Concrete BlondeI remember this one from Rock format radio. I thought it was Heart at first. A really melodic song that would sound great on any radio format. 34. Love - The SundaysThis didn't quite push my melodic buttons the way Concrete Blonde. A little toooooooo mellow for me. 33. Ripple - The ChurchI enjoyed this Church song more than I usually do. His vocals are the best part of this band's music. 32. One - U2Hurting this song's chances to go top 10 on this list is what I consider disgusting. The #1 song of the year doesn't even make top 30. You people are WRONG! I hope the melodic music fairy comes and pisses in your bed tonight. 8D 31. Into the Fire - Sarah McLachlan First time listen and its already my favorite song from her. If I break out into the chorus than I put a song in my top 40. 30. Only Love Can Break Your Heart - Saint EtienneNever heard this before, This percussion noize sounded F U C K ing awful to my ears. 29. Sheela-Na-Gig - PJ HarveyI really enjoyed this guitar charged PJ harvey song more than I thought I ever would. I actually like that "wash that man right out of my hair" line. Sounded familiar too. 28. Digging in the Dirt - Peter GabrielThe melody of this song was dirt worthy, but the bassline made me upgrade it slightly. 27. Laid So Low (Tears Roll Down) - Tears for FearsThis is a very good song, but what ass-head uploaded that photo of the band? Curt Smith had already left the band. I know that had a bass line reminding a bit of "Change", but this album really just a solo effort by Roland. 26. Caribbean Blue - EnyaI'll laugh if people thought this was my #100. Idk about the rest of you, but this melody is the flip side of Pagan Metal "Sparta" theme songs. It's still a very medieval related melody. Go listen to Italo disco hits from Valerie Dore "Lancelot"or Fellini "Passenger". So yes I like this song a lot. A proper Drumbeat and this could have been Italo Disco. Way better than Industrial ear torture that has outlived its usefullness on this list.

32. One (2): Of course, one of the best rock ballads of the 1990s didn't make the top quarter SMH. Superb vocals, strong production, good lyrics. I'm baffled at this leaving before the couple of industrial noises that remain... bottom 10 for this song is ridiculous Amen to that. I hope you and I have that same travesty in the bottom 10 ;)

EXTRAS:Nothing Natural - LushThis band for me was like Heaven and Hell I either loved her heavenly vocal vibe as "For Life" or her vocal fire of "Ladykillers". This song had neither. It's nice melody but nothing special. Leave Them All Behind - RideThis song had a Smashing Pumpkins Shoegazing vibe going for it, but the vocals sounded too drowned out in the back round. Very pleasant melody tho. You're So Close - Peter MurphyI definitely like this better than " The Sweetest Drop"Fait Accompli - CurveThis one is ok. It sounded like 90's INXS, which are just ok. Jesus Built My Hotrod - MinistryThis is just a bunch of incoherent noize. I won't even say the guitars are nice and fast, because That vocal delivery is ...unlistenable. What the actual F U C K happened to this band? This is a perfect example of a band gone sour. Compare this monstrosity to this 80's classic. Coast Is Clear - CurveThis one is also ok. I think the first song you posted last night is my favorite. Leave It Alone - Mary's DanishI like this song more because of the female vocals. I can see this song getting a cool Hair Metal remix and sounding even better. Those guitars lix have a lot of Pretty Boy Floyd in them. Johnny Have You Seen Her - The Rembrandts This is missing those iconic hand claps the 'Friends' Theme song had. Walkabout - The SugarcubesI knew this band's lead singer was that freaky Bjork chick. She never seems to want to follow the song's melody . She sounds like Peter Brady in that Brady Bunch episode where his vocals are changing. Which reminds me. That "Hit" song has overstayed its welcome. Breaking the Girl - Red Hot Chili PeppersF U C K yeah! Red Hot Chili Peppers. Easy top 30 for me. Those P rincess Leia rolls are priceless. Dear Madam Barnum - XTCThis was pretty melodic. terrible sound tho. When She Begins - Social DistortionNow this is what I'm talking about. Songs I can actually consider for my top 10. Bonfires Burning - The Origin This is ok. Too many songs started to sound like this in early 90's. I just couldn't tell them apart. Alive - Pearl JamThis one is pretty decent. One of the better P.J. songs were Eddie doesn't do his famous crooining. ' Too bad we are not ranking it here, cuz I don't know how much use I'll find for it on the Active rock Rd.

A #100 for this? Really? 30
Only Love Can Break Your Heart Saint Etienne
I don't dislike this song, but for me it was just...there. Something had to go at the bottom for me. 28
Digging in the Dirt Peter Gabriel
Like "Why," the lyrics to this song hit me hard. Back at the beginning of this decade, when my love life and professional life both laid in ruins, I had to do some soul-searching, and I had plenty of time to do it too. The lyrics to this song describe how I felt reckoning with everything that came out of the darkest corners of my mind. I hope I never end up in a position like that again for the rest of my life. INTERESTING NOTE: This became the #1 song on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart on my birthday in 1992. 28

I was worried that my #2 wouldn't even make the top half so I am completely stunned that it's in the top 25. A very pleasant surprise indeed. I expect this next set is going to be a rough one for me though. There are only a couple of songs in my top 10 that I think will have a chance at being in the rankdown top 10. But hey, at least they made it this far.

The stream of high SDs continues with the 20th highest SD kicking off this set of reveals. Six people are losing top 10s - two being top 5s - with one more top 20. Only eight bottom half ranks, and only three are bottom 25 - but two of those are bottom 15s that are almost bottom 10s, and the other is a bottom 10.

This song's a perfectly fine piece of indie pop. Until that dumb, corny, completely out-of-place rap verse comes in. 25

The rap verse is why the song isn't higher for me, to be sure, but it's really, really good outside of that.

Someone who has not had the best start will have things get even worse when they lose their #1 at #24. It's the 11th highest SD, and while there are no other #1s, four other top 10s will be lost - and all of them are top 5s! Six others joined them with top 20s.
These high rankings were resisted by two bottom 10s and another bottom 20.

A really solid song that I really only could have ranked a spot higher because the rest of this range was tough to rank.
I have a few songs still in that I could say this about.

#22 finally brings us something that isn't one of the 20 highest SDs...but it's the 26th highest, so close.
Five people lose top 10s - with only one being a top 5, along with two other top 20s. Only seven ranks here are bottom 50s...but five of them are bottom 30, one is a bottom 10, and another is almost a bottom 10.

I thought I tended to somewhat fall in line with what you guys would usually put at #100... just my luck this time around I landed on something I went against the grain on. Oh well, if it helps me with last in closeness again I'll take it~
