That's true. Even its YouTube numbers from the official sources are only slightly elevated, it's the user generated content that's blasting it so much. At least it's not as bad as "Harlem Shake," though. I haven't actually seen too many of these user-generated videos. Do most of them actually use most of the song, or just short clips of it as a background to the meme, kind of a la Harlem Shake? If the latter is the case, it doesn't seem like they should count towards the Hot 100 should they? (I know this is a question I should've asked in like week one, but whatev...) It's not the same thing as Harlem Shake, Black Beatles or In My Feelings. It's more like Despacito where the official videos are ~60% of the total streams from YouTube. Last week, it had 23.4M reported streams on YouTube Charts and 16M unreported streams (probably UGC or unofficial videos). Bad guy had 7.53M reported streams on YouTube Charts and 13M unreported streams (again... probably UGC/unofficial). You know, because it's started as a meme song people are gonna act like it's the only song that has some user-generated content.

Money In The Grave (his best song since Nothing Was the Same era). You really think it's that good a song? I don't think so. Because it is. You'll come around.

I'm thinking Shawn and Camila could pose more of a threat for this week. "Senorita" will surely pass OTR in airplay, its streaming is consistently good and even the YT numbers are good. Do we know how many of those streams/views are US based? They're pulling in at least 1.5M a day.

Ok, but my main question wasn't anwered, "Do most of the user-generated videos use most of the full-length of the song, or just short clips of it?" (specifically in Old Town Road's case)

ddlz Money in the Grave serving longevity in it's streams is more of a proof of Drake's potency as a streaming force than it is a proof of the song's quality. It's a hit, though, I'll give it that. It hasn't dipped lower than #11 since it debuted and has remained in the top 5 of Spotify/Apple Music US. Still, if you're a real Drake fan, you know he can make much better songs than this in his sleep and this is just a throwaway to hold him over till he's ready to start a new era. I will admit. I'm proud of how well the song is doing. No Guidance, too. It's nice to know Drake's mainstream powers are still as strong as ever.

(specifically in Old Town Road's case) We don't have ways to know this for sure. The most popular non-official video on YouTube is at (BRC remix - full song) 152M views in three and a half months. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUcisIlT7sM

Literally five minutes into Tik Tok and YouTube will tell you that. What about a song like Talk or I Don't Care where they aren't memes?

If "Bad Guy" and "Senorita" can't dethrone OTR soon, I feel they'll get passed/blocked by Lizzo. She's gaining rapidly in airplay and her streaming is steadily increasing (new peak #3 on spotify today). Lizzo will likely get a much higher airplay peak than both too given her appeal to Urban/Rhythmic. Her sales are remaining fairly steady as well. Definitely a #1 contender for the Hot 100 in a few weeks time.

I love all 3 so I’m glad they can potentially be number one hits soon.

A couple months ago I said that Truth Hurts would be the next #1 after OTR, I didn't expect it to take this long though. Could still happen.

And, yet, Iris has a #9 peak, which it was lucky to get only because Billboard finally allowed airplay songs to chart. The #9 placement happened several weeks after it's peak and "Slide" was already climbing in airplay (heading to #1 Top 40 eventually). Iris was inescapable and helped the City of Angeles ST sell 5MM+. Yet another case why people shouldn't get so pressed about chart records. Once OTR finishes it's run at #1, I bet we'll see multiple #1s for rest of 2019.

One of the biggest songs ever Stairway to Heaven And that was in 1970s, which made it completely an anomaly. I'd add three key songs: Into the Groove (the 12" went Gold, but Billboard rules didn't allow it to chart) Don't Speak Bye, Bye, Bye The Thong Song! LOL Thank goodness for streaming and iTunes. At least now, we won't ever have 'ghost/phantom' hits.

Lovefool by The Cardigans was number one on pop radio, but never charted on Hot 100 so they don't have ANY Hot 100 hits.
Peter Svensson has since penned hits for Ariana Grande for instance so it's all fixed.

So the biggest single all-time is the country rap song based on the industrial rock sample sung by 20 years old black gay person and three times older long haired country singer - I guess it can't be more perfect combination, only maybe they should add Grace Jones.

Being #1 for the longest time doesn't mean it's the biggest single of all-time.

Being #1 for the longest time doesn't mean it's the biggest single of all-time. Yep it takes time, but somehow I have a feeling, people will never get tired of this song, it's genius. Obviously there are different measurements for the biggest, so the longest number one definitely is one of these.

That's tough to know because we obviously don't know what their sales would have been. There are obvious airplay smashes like Iris, Torn, Don't Speak, Tubthumping, and Lovefool that seem like surefire #1s with a commercial single, but some lesser airplay hits could have sold huge and been #1, too. Or in theory we could be overestimating how well some of these airplay hits would have sold. For instance, "Lovefool" would have been competing with "No Diggity" and "Un-Break My Heart," right? Those were big #1s.

Yeah... not counting OTR's user-generated videos, but counting UGC for the other songs in the top 15, OTR would've been #1 with a 1.3-to-1 points lead.
