This is a more respectable performance for this band, especially since none of the songs we've ranked by them were really that bad

70. The Bug - Dire StraitsThe two Dire Straits song on this RD were like Night N' Day. One sucked royal while the other was fierce. This stinker was way overdue. 69. Tangled in the Web - Lynch Mob Way better ,but I posted the MV of the song I liked best from this band. This song reminded of when Glam Metal tried injecting A bit of jazz in to the songs. Ratt - "Way Cool Jr." Kiss - "Let's Put The X In Sex" to name a few. 68. Help Me Up - Eric ClaptonI like this one. Way better than some of those unplugged travesties we've seen in the last few RD's. I used the studio version "Tears In Heaven" so it doesn't count as a travesty. That's just in case someone wants to fling this post back at me later on. 67. Jesus He Knows Me - Genesis This song was hot garbage and way out of its league in the RD. For the record I hated it on pop to. What's the matter? You all afraid of going to hell if you tank a song with the word Jesus in it? :kii: 66. Heavy Fuel - Dire Straits Man this one was smoking like "Money For Nothing" part 2. How can that be a sin? All it needed was Sting chanting "I Want My VH-1" 65. Sent by Angels - Arc AngelsMore like sent by "Dad Rock" incorporated. This Arc Angles song succeeded boring parts of my brain I didn't know existed. 64. Cold Day in Hell - Gary Moore All these long forgotten songs performing better than Def Leppard. man you guys were on a mission to tank everything Glam Metal weren't you? 63 . Ain't It Heavy - Melissa Etheridge Is that a question? Not really. That's why you didn't rise any higher than #63. 62. Again Tonight - John Mellencamp The biggest hot off that album out first. Do we research for the biggest hit and tank it first just for fun? This was was obviously the banger. Cowbell in every bang. Love this jam. 61. Roll of the Dice - Bruce Springsteen Great rockin' jam from Bruce. Greta slot for it too. 60. The Dream Is Over - Van Halen Another CD that sits proudly in my music collection. Love the guitar riff in this one way too much. You knew I would be the highest ranker for this song the minute it ripped into the riff didn't you? 59. Start the Car - Jude ColeCool blues style , but with harder guitar sound better. I like this one enough for my top half. 58. Now More Than Ever - John Mellencamp Another great jam from Cougar and Co. Love how they injected a few chords from "Hurts So Good" The song could have had more band tho. The kids choir was uncalled for. 57. Little Miss Can't Be Wrong - Spin Doctors Now here is some Alt crossover acts I can put high on Rock RDs too. Spin Doctors were a big dose of fun. 56. Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses - U2 Relatively lower here, but I still like it a lot. I liked about a good 70 songs from this list. 55. Song & Emotion - Tesla Great song from the band. A song with real emotion. I knew I would be one of the highest rankers. 54. The Sky Is Crying - Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double TroubleThis was kinda a task to sit through. I like Blues but only certain acts. This guy's vocals are poster boy for "Dad Rock" 53. To Be with You - Mr. Big So it's finally revealed. You guys like Glam. You juts like Lite Glam. Anyway this is a cool sing a long jam. 52. Living in a Dream - Arc Angels More Arc Angles. Slightly better but not by much. They need more adrenaline to get out of the "Dad Rock" zone. 51. How About That - Bad Company Good song. Surprised you guys liked it? let me guess You gonna tank "Holy water" too heavy and "If You Needed Somebody" too cheesy. Both of those made my top 20. *I know you guys love Nirvana, but can we at least get rid of that song where it sounds like was on crack? "party Rock" Nirvana can hang around a bit longer tho.

EXTRAS: Show Me - Ronnie WoodRon sounds a bit like early John Mellencamp. Vocaly. Not too shabby. I can picture Mick doing his Jagger moves to this one. Shot of Poison - Lita FordF U C K yeah Lita Ford! before DIAMANTE, Dorothy, and Halestorm there was Heart, Vixxen and Lita. Nikki Sixx dated Lita that lucky F U C K. This was a top 10 Glam extravaganza on my weekly charts. I must have played this MV a million times. Would have made my top 10 on this list too. Walk on the Ocean - Toad the Wet SprocketI like this song, but it would have gotten trampled by many songs on my list. It's Probably Me - Sting with Eric ClaptonThis was pretty bad. Good vocals but weak music. Sting did better when he teamed up with Bryan Adams and Rod Stewart fro the three Musketeers movie. Symphony of Destruction - MegadethWho else got previews of new Steel Panther songs when they clicked on the video. The Metal side of me likes this song. This one is more melodic than usual so yeah top half on my list. Tell Me When Did Things Go So Wrong - The SmithereensThis one is good and I could safely place it in my top half too. Sweet Emotion - AerosmithYou knew the Glam Metal era was coming to a close when they all started re releasing there older classics. I jumped on these songs like lions on prey.I wish they had re released a sexy MV of "Walk This Way", but with no RUN DMC. Show Me the Way - The StormThis song is ok. You guys might like it better than me. It's that Lite Glam I was talkin' about earlier. Wrong - Lindsey BuckinghamBuckingham going borderline "Dad Rock" here. He should have stayed with The Mac. Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now) - CrackerThis would have landed face down in my tank. I really hated the vocals here. All She Wrote - FireHouseMore lite Glam acts, but they really rocked it here. I liked "Don't Treat Me Bad" the best. Driving the Last Spike - GenesisBetter than the two we actually ranked, but i still pass hard on it. Domino - KISSThis is how you inject blues into Metal. This is pure "Ego Rock". The kind Gene excels at. "bad habit" bad habit" , "i Just wanna Fu, i just wanna fu" sound familiar? BTW rowellfarm490. Black 'n Blue's song "Nasty Nasty". Gene Simmons co-produced that album. Thommy Thayer also plays guitar. Little Wing - Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble"Dad Rock" strike three. No more please. ;)

{WORD WALL! WORD.}#70: THIS IS THE LOWER DIRE STRAITS SONG? #69: Well, I guess it wasn't that much higher than the other Lynch Mob song, so whatever. #68: Ayy, a perfecto. And yeah, this is my lowest of the three. #67: The right Genesis song is highest. I really did want to like this particular song more, because I do like the message...but it just doesn't get out of first gear for me. #66: You want to get into my bottom ten? Disappoint me greatly. This song disappointed the hell out of me. Dire Straits are capable of so much better than this lamefest. I didn't expect this to be my last bottom ten, but I guess it also makes sense, given that it was in the YE top 20. #65: I think that both Arc Angels songs were similar in quality, but I did still prefer the other one by a somewhat decent amount. This is fine, though. #64: A perfectly okay song. That was enough to escape my bottom thirty in this rankdown. This rankdown was rough to get through at times. #63: Another fine song, but it's also kind of just there for me, too. "I'm the Only One", this isn't. #62: I agree with this being the first Mellencamp song to fall. I'd like for one to go further than this, but the other one can show up, if it wants to. #61: This was my favorite of the Springsteen songs, which says a lot about how weak his output was in 1992, given how talented he is as an artist. (I also don't have it that much higher than the other song.) #60: I am one of the first people to admit when a Van Halen song isn't very good, but their songs this year were fine. It's also the first time they've escaped the bottom 25, but they deserved to this year. #59: This was totally a song. #58: "Okay, good, the 2 Mellencamp songs I liked the most ended up highest." I'd prefer if one was higher than the other, but I agree all the same. #57: WHOA. I thought for sure that this would be, at the very least, top 40. Bless you all for this. #56: "Ranked song before? (aka is this U2?): Y" Heh. The right one is out first again, anyway. #55: :( song length :( #54: Okay, yeah, this is turning into a bit of a rough stretch. Spoiler: Do not expect me to rank Stevie low...pretty much ever. #53: I expected this song to end up around here. I think it's completely harmless. #52: Three top 40s in the last four reveals. It was coming, though. #51: Nah, this wasn't very good. I am not against ranking Bad Company high-ish, but this did nothing for me.
EXTRAS: I'll say it: This rankdown could have used some Toad. And if we needed Toad, then we DEFINITELY needed Megadeth. And "Sweet Emotion", for that matter. And oh my god, "LITTLE WING". Stevie basically turns a two minute song into a guitar exercise. "dad rock"...you have to be kidding me, Doc.

Finally with some time to catch up with reveals! I knew about 70 songs in this RD, including several songs that reached the top 5 of my personal chart, so I felt compelled to participate and support my favorites :) My expectations are very low --I just hope I can skip bottom 3 in closeness, but even if I don't, I'm just interested in reading and sharing comments here I'll start by saying that I considered my bottom 15 songs either bad or just nothing/water/plain. They included songs from artists I really liked... 100. Everything About You (86): I remember this one. I didn't like it then, don't like it now, but still felt a few other songs were worse or less 'nothing'. 99. Gun Love (96): I don't recall this one. Biggest disappointment ever from ZZ . 98. I Love You Period (83): This first-listen went from annoying to fun and at-least-catchy, skipping my bottom 15. 97. Make Love Like a Man (63): I found it a bit cringeworthy back then, not making it to my personal chart. Production was slick, though, and the beat was good enough to skip my bottom 1/3. 96. She Runs Hot (100): First listen, clear bottom 5. 95. Days of Light (80): Vocals and melody were good enough. Simple tune and far from Who's best, but not bottom5-worthy 94. Thought I Died and Gone to Heaven (47): I was a lot into Bryan's rock and slow songs. This one made my personal top 10. I'm less into it now, especially because vocals and length (the bridge...) drag the song a bit, but I still have a soft spot for this type of music. 93. Every Time I Roll the Dice (82): This had potential with the harmonicas, but the vocals were bad. 92. I'm a Steady Rollin' Man (94): Another first listen that sorta stayed in annoying territory. 91. Soul Doctor (27): As a Foreigner fan, I don't mind giving them some extra support. This was a good rock single from them, with hard vocals and beats, which they hadn't done in a while. I admit I did over-rank them, though, as I was planning to put them in my 40s, but forgot to make the adjustment before submitting. Oops! 90. Love is Alive (79): I wanted Joe to cough and get rid of his phlegms (!) That was enough for me to stop caring much for a song that had some groove and could've made it a bit higher. 89. Don't Tread on Me (68): I despise Ted, but I don't see this as "his" project. The presence of Tommy (whose material as solo and as part of Styx I love) compensates the Ted factor. Having said that, the strong guitar and hooky chorus were enough to make it my 'good enough' zone in this RD. 88. When I'm Gone (49): A nice discovery! Good tints of Scorpions in guitar and strong vocals, in a typical power ballad fashion. Surprised it's this low 87. Let's Get Rocked (40): This was my favorite song from this era. It was indeed not as strong era as the previous one, but this one was fun, slick, well produced, catchy, and not thaaat far from some of their 80s music. 86. Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad? (56): This was a bit too saccharine, but not too bad... They've done much better, of course

85. She Takes My Breath Away (92): Subpar, autopilot, disappointing offering by Eddie. 84. Hot Cherie (70): This was a catchy and fun discovery. Nothing otherworldly, but good enough to avoid bottom 30. 83. There Will Never Be Another Tonight (43): This made the lower tier of my personal chart, not making it as high as Though... but with time I grew to like this one more. Good teenage memories, which made me rank it a bit higher than I initially thought. 82. I Can't Dance (51): This was a minor hit back home, but didn't make my personal chart, as I found it annoying. With time, I've appreciated a bit more its harder, guitar-led sound, and the second half drum-guitar-keyboard combo, although Phil's delivery still annoys me. 81. What You Give (91): Clear bottom 10, with bad vocals and weak melody to me. Correct first Tesla song to go. 80. Love Is on the Way (65): I hadn't heard this song in over 20 years before I did this RD. I remember this making it to AT40 and I liked it enough to rank it in the bottom tier of my personal chart. I thought I was gonna rank it higher for this RD, but its dose of cheese worked against it 79. What God Wants (67): This was an interesting discovery. Solid musicality, but I needed more melody and better vocals beyond the gospel-like background vocals... 78. No Regrets (50): I often have a good reaction to this type of drum-guitar dancey rock song. It almost made my personal chart back in the day, but I didn't like it enough (and those high-pitched screams were jarring). 77. Call It What You Want (76): Right second Tesla to go! And an almost P-P-P-P!! This was catchier and more interesting than WYG, especially that guitar in the verses and bridge, but still not the type of chorus I'm interested in listening to again. 76. Take a Chance (77): This had potential, but ended up being far too monotonous. 75. Where You Goin' Now (36): I assume this was tanked because of Ted? Otherwise, it's a strong rock ballad with a good melody and solid vocals. A good re-discovery, I had forgotten about this song. 74. 57 Channels (95): Yeah, I remember this one from back in the day. I liked the music, but there was nothing else on! Quite a simplistic, repetitive tune, that hindered me to pay much attention to the lyrics. I love Bruce, but this has always been an utter disappointment to me. 73. Wild on the Run (81): This first-listen sounded like rate-b Aerosmith to me... not bad, but just there. 72. Keep the Faith (30): This made my personal top 5. It was a minor hit back home. I liked the evolution of their sound to a Soup Dragon / Jesus Jones / EMF type of modern-rock, although it took me a bit to dig Jon's new hairdo Far too low for BJ :( 71. Dream Until Tomorrow (99): I may have slightly under-ranked this one, but that chorus is my definition of meh. I could've likely ranked it 5-10 spots higher.

70. The Bug (37): This was played a bit in some of our radio stations, and was my favorite song this era. Just a fun, road rock'n roll type of song that I still remember well. 69. Tangled in the Web (84): Those trumpets were a very good addition and made me improve my ranking of this one. I'm just not a fan of LM's branch of rock sound. 68. Help Me Up (52): This had a good classic rock sound, with brass, keyboard, drums, and of course guitar. It briefly made it to the lower part of my personal chart. 67. Jesus He Knows Me (38): This was their third song off WCD that made it to my personal chart, although only to my 20s, as opposed to the other 2 songs. It has a catchy, rapid, pop-rock sound and melody, that I have a soft spot for (although I could've ranked it a bit lower for that bridge, that I've just registered ). I can see why it's this low in this RD, as it's a bit too pop, but well its poppiness is part of the reasons I like it 66. Heavy Fuel (44): A nice attempt to redo MFN, but it pales in comparison... still a good song to make the top half of this RD. 65. Sent by Angels (93): Yay!! About time for another of my bottom 10 songs! This is another clear example of a first-listen song that was just nothing to me... 64. Cold Day in Hell (87): Another first-time listen. The guitar, trumpet, and background vocals combo were ok, but the melody was forgettable (basically an extended verse). 63. Ain't It Heavy (88): Like Bruce, Melissa is an artist I like a lot, but this song was simply subpar. 62. Again Tonight (45): Huh?? What is going on here?? The wrong JM song leaves first?! This was by far my favorite of this album, as it had a more classic-John-Cougar sound, and there are some good melodies here (unlike at least one of the remaining JM songs). 61. Roll of the Dice (71): A more classic-Bruce-piano-rock type of song than his other one. I just wish the melody were stronger for me to rank it higher. 60. The Dream Is Over (57): Strong guitar and drum sounds (classic Van Halen), plus a catchy chorus. Verses weren't as strong, though, affecting my final ranking of this one. 59. Start the Car (73): Interesting first-listen, with a cool use of brass, guitars and drums. I could've likely ranked it a bit higher with some extra familiarity, or stronger melody. 58. Now More Than Ever (58): P-P-P-PERFECT RANKING! Still, his songs are leaving in the wrong order! This was fun and all, but the chorus' almost reprise of Pink Houses always bothered me., and that was the highlight of the song 57. Little Miss Can't Be Wrong (53): Not as good as TP (a multi-week personal chart-topper), but a fun, breezy rock song anyway. 56. Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses (19): ☹ Another big loss, As I shared in the Alt RD, this is my 3rd favorite of this album. Should’ve been a bit higher

Yeah, I'm always the last to know...but I'd stayed faithful at least:
70. The Bug---The right Dire Straits song leaves first. It kinda feels a bit played out right down to the shoutout to the title at the end. That's why it struggled to escape my bottom 20.
69. Tangled in the Web---The blues guitar was solid and a real highlight, but I do wish the vocals were a bit better.
68. Help Me Up---Eric's fallen and he can't get up. LOL. But seriously though, this song was too long and felt like too little from Mr. Clapton. Luckily, two of his better songs are still rocking and both did better by me.
67. Jesus, He Knows Me---In some ways, it's like I Can't Dance except the lyrics are catchier and more clever, the instruments are more on point, and Phil is able to wrap his vocals around this one. And you can't say that this song isn't still relevant today. Shame, shame, shame.
66. Heavy Fuel---Yeah, this is Money for Nothing 2.0 and it pales in comparison...except for the part where the protagonist is questioning the manhood and sexuality of some of these rockers. Yeah, that part could have gone away yesterday. The guitar is done well enough and the vocals were fine, but those lyrics needed some work.
65. Sent By Angels---This was a solid tune about love. I wish this had made top half.
64. Cold Day in Hell---I always can appreciate a good blues rock song. This one filled the bill nicely.
63. Ain't It Heavy---Speaking of solid blues rock, this one by Etheridge deserves better. It was her most rocking tune and she handled it well.
62. Again Tonight---I never shared everyone's enthusiasm for this year's tunes by John Cougar. This one made good use of a cowbell, but it otherwise lacked distinction. I think there was one slightly better tune and hopefully that sticks around.
61. Roll of the Dice---I feel like the protagonist of 57 Channels in wondering what this tune had that made it finish better. Lyrically, this was the weakest. But at least Bruce showed up and that does make a difference.
60. The Dream is Over---Not sure what prompted bottom 10s but OK. The guitar riffs by Eddie were nicely done and the lyrics weren't bad.
59. Start the Car---LOL at a Perfecto. This was another blues rock song that I could have vibed with except for the weakish lyrics.
58. Now More than Ever---And here's the weakest of the four John Cougar songs. The music was fine, but John doesn't seem to be trying too hard here.
57. Little Miss Can't Be Wrong---I think there's a way that you can do a breakup song without coming across like an evil jerk. The cringy lyrics make sure that wasn't the case, although the lead's vocals are tolerable.
56. Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses---Not much to say that we haven't tackled in the 1992 alternative round.
55. Song and Emotion---How do you make the bottom 5 for me in this rankdown? Easy. Throw in some annoying vocals and some weak lyrics and make it 8 MINUTES LONG. This song was lucky that there were larger targets for me to bash.
54. The Sky is Crying---Call me shocked, but I thought this was a) the song I rated higher and b) the song you'd like better. Welp, I'm oh for two. Decent vocals and a solid blues guitar ensured that this cover would crack my top half.
53. To Be With You---I know the active charts weren't the way they used to be. But I probably would have rated it higher in the Alternative rankdowns anyway.
52. Living in a Dream---The weaker of the two Arc Angels songs, but still fine enough for my top half.
51. How About That---Why did this not pass muster with me? Start with it being a ripoff of Right Here, Right Now and have it played by a band that's going through the motions. That's why.
Extras:
Walk on the Ocean probably would have done enough to be in my top 20. It's Probably Me was meh and wouldn't have escaped my bottom 20. Still, it's better than Help Me Up. Sweet Emotion probably would have been up there with Walk on the Ocean.
Tonight: Hopefully, we say goodbye to my last bottom 10, the Queensryche songs, and the rest of the John Cougars.

Time to comment on the extras I know: - Sax and Violins - Talking Heads: As shared in the Alt RD, the quirkiness -and the percussion- of this song clicked quickly with me, and this made it to the runner-up position in my personal chart. I wouldn't have ranked it as high as in Alt, but this would've made my top half. - The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead - XTC: And this was a personal chart-topper that would've definitely made my top 30 in this RD. - Closer to Me - The Outfield: This had some minor rotation back home, but far from their hits. I didn't dislike it, but felt they were in autopilot with this one and not trying much or at all... - Did Ya - The Kinks: Oh! This was a very minor hit in one of our rock radio stations back home, but I really liked it when I heard it. I recorded it from that radio to one of my mixtapes, and this became a hit in my personal chart, making it up to #2. This would've made the top half in this RD. - Weight of the World - Ringo Starr: This was barely played in one of our rock stations, but I did like it when I heard it and put it in contention for my personal chart. It didn't make it in the end, but it was a pleasant, Jeff Lyne-like song to jam to. It - Smells Like Nirvana - "Weird Al" Yankovic: One of my favorite parody songs ever. I think he nailed the lyrics, music, sound, and of course imagery. Pure fun! - Countdown - Lindsey Buckingham: I had 3 songs of this album fighting to enter my personal chart: Don't Look Down, this one, and Soul Drfiter, in chronological order. They weren't hits in any radio back home, butI more or less liked these 3 songs, plus I've always been a fan of LB, In the end, this and SD briefly entered my chart. Both remain my favs from this era. I would've likely ranked this in top 50. - The Show Must Go On - Queen: I remember this one played after Freddie's death, becoming a hit in rock stations. I loved t at first listen, becoming there first of two personal chart-toppers this year (the other one being Bohemian Rhapsody). This would've fought for #1 in this RD. - Stranger In This Town - Richie Sambora: This was a good enough tune from him. Nice guitar and classic rock sounding song. It didn't enter my personal chart, but it was a good 'extra'
