If this is the song to skyrocket up iTunes after the Super Bowl and not Save Your Tears, then I really think it has a shot to return to #1. Or we can hope for both to skyrocket.

Did Yummy even make it to 20 weeks on the Hot 100? The attempt to even make it seem like they are in the same ballpark in terms of impact is laughable.
Unless you're the Recording Academy, I guess.

Good information, so Weeknd's video is not a success, but Yummy is still surprisingly monster hit of 2020. What world do you in live in? Clearly not the same one as the rest of us 1000 Youtube views is about 5 dollars, so Biebs made from this Yummy "failure" about 3M dollars only from Youtube views, not bad at all.

That's just his revenue. God knows how much he spent on getting those models in his video and how much he paid for everything else. The real measure of success is profit.

you can't use Youtube as a barometer of success, cuz Bon Appetit is widely known as a flop, but yet it has over a BILLION views. Is it still a flop or a massive success?

I would say if the song makes 10000 dollars profit, it is a massive success, even 1000 is not so bad. For me Bon Appetit is one of Perry's favorite tracks, I really do like it, so you can tell Katy that this is her biggest and loved hit - in other words - what a success! And I dont care if she was just sort of million in profit(probably more than that). What a flop of a song to earn only one million dollars:) Also - I guess she made more money with Bon Appetit than all her recent songs together, even if those went higher on charts...

Wow! To my surprise, this song is still on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart! Apparently, the chart doesn't have a 50-week recurrent rule for a song below #10, even though the rule is indicated on the page under the chart (then again, the other recurrent rule says that songs below #20 are moved to recurrent after 20 weeks, when, in fact, the cutoff point has been #15 for nearly a decade now, so apparently, the rule is in need of updating). So yeah, "Blinding Lights" for some unknown reason was able to hold onto the chart last week at #15 and this week, rises to #13, with a -1 spin decrease. With its airplay on year-end charts coming up this week, the song will almost certainly still be on the chart on January 9, most likely with an increase in plays. I guess we'll see how long the song continues to break its own record.
EDIT: Wait, weren't the year-end countdowns played this past weekend? If so, that could explain the song's mere 1 point loss in plays.

It's up to number 2 on Itunes worldwide chart. I guess it would be a crime against breaking records to recurrent this song. Obviously it is very current after a year of release! I think they should change the rules, that when the song is more than 30 weeks in top 10, it never should go recurrent. By the way, I wonder how long this song will chart on AT40 or Rick Dees as these shows do not have the recurrent rules, although Rick Dees has actually no rules at all.

It just occurred to me that this song charted on the BB Mainstream Top 40 chart in three different years. It debuted on the last chart of 2019, spanned 2020, and is on the first chart of 2021. Just thought I'd point that out, since I found that quite interesting.

Where is this song predicted to be on the Billboard All-time list? It's #4 currently, if it re-enters in the top 10, it'll be #3 (behind The Twist and Smooth).
BL re-entered the top 10 in Australia, at #8. 39th week in the top 10, only behind "Dance Monkey" (41 weeks). also, it's currently at #3 on WW iTunes chart, #1 on WW Apple Music Chart, and #2 on Global Spotify Chart (356th day in the top 10) - and it has more than 1,8 billion streams there (fastest song to reach that mark). It topped the Global "Media Traffic" year-end chart, and it's currently at #5 on their All-Time list, with 15,7m points.

The mediatraffic chart skews heavily towards recent releases, with more data and national charts than ever to feed it with points, so take it with a grain of salt.
That said there's no denying this was/is massive.

This is has certainly had an unprecedented run, and Abel’s team has learned how to prolong that run even further. The remixes helped some, and so did the year end charts, etc. I think the final destination for this campaign will be the super bowl next month. I wouldn’t be surprised if it shoots back to #1 on the Hot 100 in the week afterwards. But it will certainly be time to move on at that point or this might end up becoming a blessing and a curse in his catalog as it mounts over everything else by miles. He has too many good hits to just have this one song be the highlight of his career.

#3 on the Hot 100 this week, 43rd week in the Top 10 and now holds the record for highest reentry on the chart.

I think it's the biggest pop hit of all time already and it's now top 3 of all-time on the Hot 100, simply amazing!

It's ridiculous. Dance Monkey is 2nd but far behind with 286 days spent in top 10, and Blinding Lights is not even done yet. It's definitely going to be over 400 days in top 10. Blinding Lights has a very good chance to dethrone Shape Of You and become the most streamed song of all time in the next two years

The biggest CHR radio pop hit of all time at the beginning of 2020 was New Rules by Dua Lipa (aided by a 93 week top 40 run). By the end of 2020, we had a new all time champ, Circles by Post Malone. Circles is still the biggest pop hit of all time and it is still charting, but it is just a matter of time before Blinding Lights dethrones it.
