Tbh this sounds like a 1989 reject and I think that sound isn't suitable to current pop radio anymore although I'd love for a new wave of music, I'm getting similar vibes from Lizzo's and Dua's new songs

The message in this song is more substantive than anything off 1989 but from a production standpoint I can see it.

The AI increases relative to the spin increases are not good.

Likely mostly smaller stations jumping on board... let's see how many adds it can get next week (there are about 100 or so stations that haven't added it yet), as the big ones are probably waiting to see how initial response goes. It's top 40 already which is a good sign.

The AI are increasing decently daily though. Z100 and KIIS added it this week, so it's all about how far they take it up their playlists.

Audience gain is bigger with less spins gained! Progress.

Ehhh...the big stations supporting Taylor has never really been a problem.
Back when you could look at the amount of spins/playlist of each station, you could identify certain artists — mostly less established ones — who had trouble breaking through in the top markets.
If z100 supported Taylor enough to have Lover on power rotation, it’s not gonna be the holdup for The Man lol.
I’m not worried about the audience. Especially for an urban-friendly message that a song like this has.

As someone who is very logical, we have to take a step back before we know if this song will be a smash or not. As mentioned before, Taylor has never had a problem with Z100 (literally my favorite station for music) or other big stations.
I want this song to do well as much as the rest of you, and the early numbers do seem promising, but we need to realize a lot can happen between now and its peak date (whenever that may be) to hurt it.
I don't want to be the glass half empty guy but I just hope this song isn't riding on initial hype and drops quickly after that.
Long story short let's continue to hope for the best but still look out for obstacles on the horizon before we do our victory dance.
[Insert gifs of Taylor Swift dancing in the lovely way she does at award shows]

Loved this song in the beginning, kinda went neutral on it, and now am back on board. Hope it smashes. Clever, catchy.

Loving this song again.
Praying this smashes so I can get my ‘Cruel Summer’ single release. :(

I'm hoping this can crack the Top 15 at least. With the help of the music video, performances and possibly a remix, I could see it getting there.

The ultimate slap in the face would be this smashing, and her still not releasing Cruel Summer.

I feel like she might stop after this. It is the streaming era... though she did say she wanted to keep sending songs from Lover so...

Yes based on the notion you just mentioned and the fact that everyone (including herself) knows Cruel Summer is the smash of the album means that, at worst, this single will bridge the gap time between Lover and Cruel Summer.

Let me be very clear, I have no issues with Taylor Swift but I just don't see this faring well. I think Taylor Swift as a chart-topper Top 40\Pop artist is officially done. We are going to see a more mature sound, "Lover" like songs. Sometimes I wonder if she should have just waited to release Lover as the first single in September or so and then went on with the album. Yep completely agree. Perhaps she will eat her own words and go back to Country. She could have a second wind in Country.

I feel like if anything after this she’s gonna do a rerelease of the album because that would make sense with the streaming era. It would mean new single’s off of that even if they are new song’s would still be sending more from the album, but also making sense with how the streaming era works!

Once this is done, sending "Cruel Summer" is a perfect way to cap things off. And once that's done, a re-release to celebrate the album's one year anniversary would be very fitting and a nice conclusion to the era once she pushes one or two singles from the re-release. Then it'd be onto Lover Fest, her re-recordings and then TS8 in 2022.
