I'm sure this is just because of fatigue/overexposure, but am I the only one that's noticed that Goodbyes hasn't performed as well as the rest of Post Malone's singles usually do? I'm only saying so because he usually focuses on pushing one single at a time.
It came out 3 weeks after Money in the Grave but it's already pulling in less streams than it on both Spotify US and Apple Music US.
Now, he apparently plans to drop yet another single before he drops his album in September, give or take about a month from now.
Anyways, he'll be good either way. I'm sure Sunflower will be added to his new album, along with Wow. Streams from those two songs along with streams from Goodbyes will give the album a good start.
It's just something I noticed and thought I'd point out.

I agree. I think once it's peaked at radio they'll just mainly push "Circles" prior to the release of the album.

Goodbyes is doing quite well, especially if it keeps gaining on radio like it is. A fine addition to the Post hit collection.

Was thinking the same thing, forgettable. Billboard must be crunching those numbers...

I never said Goodbyes wasn't doing fine. It hasn't left the top 10 since it debuted there. It's another hit in Post Malone's bag. All I said was that his other singles have performed better than it did upon arrival and that fatigue/oversaturation might be catching up to him. It happens to everybody. I used Money in the Grave as an example because it was released almost a month before Goodbyes and is performing just above it on streaming sites.
Forget I said anything, lol. I don't want this to turn into some big discussion.

I agree. I think once it's peaked at radio they'll just mainly push "Circles" prior to the release of the album. Let's just move on before someone accuses me of insinuating Post Malone is a flop or calls me a hater. I wonder why the Hot 100 top 10 hasn't been released yet.

Billboard Top 10 Flashback: August 21, 200401 02 Lean Back - Terror Squad (1st of 3 weeks at #1)02 01 Slow Motion - Juvenile feat. Soulja Slim 03 05 Sunshine - Lil Flip 04 04 Turn Me On - Kevin Lyttle 05 06 Dip It Low - Christina Milian 06 10 Goodies - Ciara feat. Petey deleted 07 03 Confessions Part II - Usher 08 07 Move Ya Body - Nina Sky feat. Jabba 09 13 My Place - Nelly (feat. Jaheim) 10 08 If I Ain't Got You - Alicia Keys I know I might be in the minority, but I don't even remember any of these songs except the Usher one, and that might have been Part I. Generally I know 7-8 of each dating back to the mid-80s, but this is almost foreign to me.

^Some of the music around the mid-2000s was forgettable so that's understandable.

You recognise one of three of Usher’s most forgotten number one hits, but don’t recognise Ciara’s “Goodies” or Alicia Keys’ bonafide classic “If I Ain’t Got You”?

“Goodies; Lean Back; Turn Me On; Move Ya Body; My Place” and most certainly “If I Ain’t Got You” are all extremely remembered.
They’re Urban/Rhythmic radio staples in the U.S, especially here in NYC.
As a matter of fact, I’ve heard “Move Ya Body” and “Lean Back” on Hot 97 this weekend alone.

^Yeah. We've become spoiled after a couple of relatively early top 10 releases. I personally prefer the Official Charts and ARIA's predictable yet boring schedule.

I think the point is that the Top 10 in 2004 was extremely Urban/Rhythmic which is one genre that, while popular, doesn't necessarily appeal to the masses. The way Billboard designed the Hot 100 back then, the sales were obviously high for these singles so it's not a knock on the songs. These are obviously not songs that were big around me in listening to Country/Pop/Hot AC/etc.
I have no doubt people love these songs, but for me personally, they are just a string of words in a record book with zero context.

dajross6, there were NO sales for these songs on the Hot 100. In 2004 there were no digital sales, no streaming and physical singles had disappeared. It was pure airplay, and Urban / Rhythmic radio ratings were sky high, smothering Top 40, which was in the middle of its last big identity crisis, itself relying heavily on Hip-Hop & R&B.

You're right, I forgot about the little 2-3 year gap between physical singles and digital singles in the early 00s. That is likely the reason why the top 10 is one-sided the way it is in 2004.

Just a note- digital sales were added to the Hot 100 mix in early 2005, even though the Digital Tracks chart had debuted in 2003.
As the Aug. 24 chart info still has yet to be revealed...

I honestly think it would be a huge upset for a new #1 this week unless they tinkered with the formula. Can't see it happening.

dajross6And to show the HUMUNGOUS disparity between Pop Airplay & Urban/Rhythmic Airplay... Usher: “YEAH!” The song peaked at 186M AI atop the Hot 100 Airplay. • Pop Radio: 41M AI. • Urban Radio: 79M AI. • Rhythmic Radio: 66M AI. Pop Radio hasn’t had a number one song peak atop their format that was under 50M AI since 2008, and Urban Radio hasn’t had a song peak atop their format with 55M+ AI since 2009. However, this is slowly changing. Since 2017, we’ve seen how the largest Pop AI’s have mostly stalled around the 85-95M mark (unlike 2012-2016 where the biggest songs were hitting 110M+ frequently) and the biggest Urban Radio number ones are starting to hit the 45-50M AI mark and climb again.

It’s not the real chart. I think he was assuming what he thinks (might, could) will be the obvious.
