So "OTR" is still #1 in streaming and sales (i.e. public demand), yet is #3 overall. Wow.

This is Bad Guy's 19th week top 10 too.
Correct me if wrong, but I don't think a song has ever reached #1 for a first time after spending so many weeks top 10 prior.

How is the single bundled? cassette bundled with a digital single and then a vinyl bundled with a digital single Did each count for 2 sales a piece then?

bad guy (before this week obviously) was charting on the hot 100 as long as old town road was #1

So, it spent 19 weeks in the top 2. Is that the record? I feel like Despacito or something might have more. Nope it's the record. Despacito only had 17. Second place is Uptown Funk with 18.

I'm glad that "bad guy" is the one that dethroned "Old Town Road". Of all the songs that got blocked by "Old Town Road", it's definitely the best one.

Not necessarily the best one, but definitely the most persistent one. If the vertical video y cassette single bundle allowed it to be #1 this week, that's definitely not giving up.

And if you already had the digital single, this new purchase wouldn't count would it?

Bad Guy’s really grown on me a lot so I’m happy for a prosperous and ever-changing number one hit until the next sensation comes.

Congrats to Billie, I'm so happy she finally got it!! It's so nice to see a fresh #1 again, and because it's a song I like makes it all the better! I really hope the #1 turnover continues to be fairly swift for at least the next few weeks.

Can someone do the math of actual points here? I'm curious why all the predictions were wrong. (But very happy they were!)
Since Bad Guy sold 20k on the *digital* sales chart, I'm wondering if it had a significant amount of physical sales that weren't captured in that total? Perhaps it was actually the best-selling single when physical + digital are combined?
I'm also curious about the breakdown of on-demand vs passive streaming, because the gap seems quite large (53.1m vs 39.1m) with just the raw totals.
If I recall correctly, there were quite a few weeks where predictions underestimated Bad Guy, so maybe there's just been an incorrect assumption about where its points are coming from for some time?

Codex- it overtook OTR, but not for the No. 1 position. I agree with Codex though - if Senorita does end up going number one, it means the list of songs OTR blocked will get shorter.

Congratz to Billie Eilish for getting her first #1, she really surprised a lot of us here. Not me! I said on here back when she had a bunch of her old songs/album tracks entering the Hot 100 and Bubbling Under for apparently no reason that she was probably going to get a huge #1 hit pretty soon. If anything I was more shocked that Bury a Friend didn't do better (not that it did badly, but her having a bunch of old songs charting on the lower part of the Hot 100 for months, from nothing except I gather word of mouth and sharing online, made me think that it would have at least managed a top 10 peak).

The worst number 1 on Billboard since Rihanna’s dreadful Work topped the chart for 9 weeks.

Prior to “Bad Guy”, Vertical Horizon’s “Everything You Want” spent 12 weeks in the top 10 before hitting #1 for 1 week in July 2000. Before that... Ini Kamoze’s “Here Comes The Hotstepper” spent 10 weeks in the top 10 before hitting #1 for 2 weeks in December 1994.

The article already notes that it is the longest running #2 prior to hitting #1
