It's not released until next friday. It comes out February 14th, so two Fridays from now actually. But you did just get the last instant track before then!

The album thread for Kelsea‘s third album is opened for months now. There is no such rule but Carly Pearce is going to get little traction here on pulse (just like FGL’s single thread). You are welcome to start one but I guarantee that the “listening party” thread (started the day an album is released) will probably have more traffic

The album thread for Kelsea‘s third album is opened for months now. The distinction is that an album thread can be made in this forum (Artist Discussion) at any time: pulsemusic.proboards.com/board/12/But a 'listening party' thread in the Country News & Non-Singles Discussion forum can only be created when there's an available link for listening (i.e. the record is released, or an early stream is available via something like NPR): pulsemusic.proboards.com/board/65/country-news-non-singles-discussionCountry posters often forget/don't know about the Artist Discussion section, so there's not a lot going to be as much traffic there is all.

So, this finally debuted on callouts this week. It is second last on the chart (just above Family Tree) however, this is clearly because the familiarity is very low.
I don't think we will need to worry about this song's chart performance going forward just yet because the callouts show that this has a good net positive AND incredibly low burn rate.

This song grew on me. It wasn't instant, but the melody is pretty strong and it's a solid vocal performance from Carly. I could do without Lee Brice on this, but whatever. The song is really good.

I really hope "Finish Your Sentences" is not the next single. I get that it is a duet and duet's are starting to really be in right now, but I find the lyrics way too cheesy and the whole "finishing your sentences" concept/part in the verses is kind of cringe inducing for me.

I feel like the next single has to be It Won’t Always Be Like This. There is just SO much passion around that song already, and the YT numbers are strong for just a lyric/preformance video.

I'd be happy with either "Finish Your Sentences" or "It Won't Always Be Like This" being the next single. I enjoy both songs. I think "Finish Your Sentences" would be the safer choice for radio but would love to see "It Won't Always Be Like This" be a hit like "Every Little Thing".
I do really hope that this song goes to #1, I cannot get enough of this song!

I feel It Won’t Always Be Like This should be next. It clearly will smash. It is already connecting really well with the GP as evident by its streams and sales.
I hope they don’t go with Finish Your Sentences after all, this single is a duet and I wouldn’t want two duet singles in a row. Carly does not have a duets album, and that can come off as a misrepresentation. Also, to be honest, there are a handful of tracks on the album that are so much better.

I'd be happy with either of those next, preferably both (one for single #3 and the other fourth), but I think "Finish Your Sentences" sounds like the safer hit for radio. I hear about Carly Pearce's relationship with Michael Ray talked about so frequently by radio PDs that it would probably get off to a hot start just like this single did and be another one to fly up the charts pretty quickly. It would also work out timing-wise since Michael Ray is about to be off the charts within the next few months with "Her World or Mine" looking like its done about all its going to do. I'd like to think "It Won't Always Be Like This" would be a big smash for her, but it's definitely also way more risky and I'm sure it would start off more slowly for her.

This is personally how I would do the era as her A&R (single-picker):
1. Closer To You 2. I Hope You're Happy Now 3. Dashboard Jesus (this must go to radio at some point, it's too much of a gem for it to be ignored) 4. It Won't Always Be Like This 5. Heart's Going Out of Its Mind or Woman Down
Count me in the boat that doesn't like "Finish Your Sentences." I can see it going to radio and likely flying up the charts but I just don't like the way they go back-and-forth with certain phrases.

God no... Finish Your Sentences is her worst song to date. Probably the only song on both albums that I do not like. It is sooo cheesy. I could literally get behind ANY other song on the album as the next single.

I agree on Dashboard Jesus, it’s one of my favorites on the album along with Halfway Home, but I don’t think either are on the single track at this point unfortunately. There is no passion yet for those.,,if we are going on plays and views on Spotify next up would have to be It Won’t Be Like This, Finish Your Sentences or You Kissed Me First. Just be thankful that “Call Me” was pretty much DOA. I would think Big Machine recognizes that lol

I might be the only one who wants "You Kissed Me First" to be a single, lol. It sounds like a huge potential smash to me, along with "It Won’t Always..." and "Halfway Home" of course. "Finish Your Sentences" is also really cute and I’m surprised that not many people on here dig it. The only song I don’t fully love on the album is "Woman Down". Absolutely stellar collection of songs.

I wonder how much higher this is gonna get, as it feels like ever since hitting the Top 15 this song has kind of slowed down a lot and it looks like Carly/Lee fell back to #14 on Mediabase and "I Hope You're Happy Now" has the lowest bullet in the Top 30 sans Maren Morris, Kane Brown, Jason Aldean, and Michael Ray.
I wanna think this sing has enough fight to hit #1 on both charts, but I could see this song being a Mediabase only #1 due to all the competition around it.

Yeah I am starting to subscribe to sabre14's logic and that this song is probably gonna have to settle for a Top 10 peak at best on radio as it is becoming clear that this song is starting to emerge as one of the weakest links in the Top 30, especially evident by Travis Dennings "After A Few" passing it and the only song in the Top 30 on Mediabase being promoted that has a double digit bullet. I am gonna be kind of frustrated if this song has to settle for a Top 10 peak, because this song has consistently sold very well since being released, is pretty young (this week is week #26 for this song) and had a pretty fast start. I am still holding out hope for this song, but the future is bleak overall for "I Hope You're Happy Now" and its long-term chart prospects.

"Finish Your Sentences" seems like a logical choice for the next single, but I still don't like it that much so I would rather something else get released tbh. "Halfway Home" is the best song on the record IMO, and probably my favorite Carly Pearce song period, so I really hope that one doesn't just remain an album track. My second choice would be "It Won't Always Be Like This" because that song is great as well and sounds like it would be good for radio.
I need more time with the album as I've only listened to it a couple times, but those two songs were clear standouts for me and I do think this album is a big step up from her debut overall. Her voice still bothers me, but I'm getting more used to it.

I’m confused why this is suddenly just stopped on the charts. Is testing bad? Cause streaming and sales have been strong throughout is run.

I’m confused why this is suddenly just stopped on the charts. Is testing bad? Cause streaming and sales have been strong throughout is run. Testing is not great. Looking at the Mediabase Callout this is ranked second last in positive score, also very low in terms of favorite (fourth from the bottom), negative score is pretty middle of the road. The problem is that with Riley Green, Jason Aldean, and Kelsea Ballerini all in freefall, "I Hope You're Happy Now" is the weakest song callout wise for songs being promoted. Just looking at the callout scores this song is one that does not have a ton of passion or negativety. Good news is that the familiarity and heavy burn are low so maybe things can turn around, but for now this song is kind of stuck.

Aside from Travis Denning sneaking past, this song isn't really in imminent threat to be passed by anyone else, and it is still pretty young by country radio standards, so I'm not too worried yet. It does have a lot of competition ahead of it though so I'm not sure I can see it going all the way either, but I do think it will make the top 10 for sure and likely the top 5, which would still be a big success for her (and Lee Brice), especially since it has sold well for its entire run. It should set herself up for the album's third single to be received well, I'd think.

I don't think this one's guaranteed to make the top 5 at all. It just hasn't done much since it broke into the top 20. Two weeks ago it had decent gains of +200 spins but it's been stuck between 15-12 on Mediabase since the start of February -- that a long time to spend in the teens. It's young-ish, compared to other marathon chart runs these days, but it didn't burn a ton of weeks in the 50's and 40's like "After a Few" did (so the majority of the listening audience didn't hear it) -- "I Hope You're Happy Now's" rotation rate has been greater since it started its climb and it's now been in top 20 airplay since the start of the year... The testing is definitely the reason its been held back. It's not testing awful, but the passion on MB callout just hasn't been there despite relatively good sales. Curb wanted to released Lee's solo single in Q1 but waited until Q2 because of "I Hope You're Happy Now." Now that "One of Them Girls" is coming out and Carly's album dropped, the clock is ticking to get this single going. I think top 10 is obtainable but I'm not sure about top 5.

Such a shame. This song has ALWAYS felt like a lock for another #1 from Carly. It's just sooooo damn good!

Very disappointed that this won't hit #1, and might not even hit Top 5. It's a damn shame because it's such a good song and I thought it was a lock for the top spot. Here's to hoping for "Dashboard Jesus" or "Heart's Going Out of Its Mind" for single #3 for a nice summery jam that keeps up Carly's radio momentum. Perhaps even "Woman Down" because it's shorter which would beg for repeated listens.

This song and “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” had a really similar run. They both had strong sales and took off with radio much faster than they would have been expected to considering the artists. Then all of the sudden they both just hit a wall.
We all know radio puts too much weight in testing, but how is it that they really think their listeners were okay hearing these songs in an expedited chart run for 3 months and then all of the sudden they say “oh wait nevermind.”
