You think he's gonna drop from #1 to #15 or more? The record is currently hold by two songs, both from 1974; Billy Preston's "Nothing From Nothing" & Dionne Warwick & The Spinners "Then Came You". Both of them fell from #1 to #15. Whoops, meant for a #1 debut. The current record I believe is Pillowtalk which fell to #7 I don't think he'll fall quite that much, but I could see it going down to 5-6.

Maybe the song that could break the biggest fall from #1 record is All I Want For Christmas is You if it gets to #1 this year.
It's curious though that there have been a like a number of #2 debuts that dropped outside the top 10 in Week 2 but none of the #1 debuts. I thought Pillowtalk would dropped hard like most One Direction songs used to do after a big debut but it was quite stable in the bottom side of the top 10.

We have had unremarkable throwaway #1 hits before... "Crack a Bottle" anyone?

Harry Styles single and video tonight, possible top 5 debut? Oh, so that's why all the chart accounts have been posting his chart stats? That's great! With a video, I could easily see a top 5 debut with the right single. It's been well over 2 years since he's pushed a single.

Top five might be a tall order since he debuted at #4 with SOTT with much more hype... but he could always do a more trendy song and land a hit.

We have had unremarkable throwaway #1 hits before... "Crack a Bottle" anyone? I always forget that that was a #1 hit. Hype for Eminem's comeback must have been through the roof at that time if a song like that could instantly shoot to #1 with no real promotion or radio deal of any kind.

Anyone with enough hype could do 350k on iTunes and land an easy #1 at the time, even if they had previously struggled to reach those heights (See also: Spears, Britney).

Here's a better example: "Do I Make You Proud" I can't even tell you the melody or even any lyric from that track other than the what's in the title. Plus, the artist has only ever charted on the Hot 100 one other time, but with a cover and a measily peak of 69.

^Actually, Fantasia's I Believe has been the only #1 peaking song never to have made a year-end Hot 100. That said, I would say that most of those American Idol songs that did debut at #1 had relatively short chart runs.

It would've tied Do I Make You Proud's record for shortest stint in the Hot 100 for a #1 song and I didnt want Kendrick associated with a record like that lol.

There was 4,931,000 digital tracks sold last week; first time below 5 million since the week dated January 1, 2005.
Audio streams are pacing to cross 15 billion for the first time though, (14,979,927,000 last week).

I can't say I'm enthusiastic about this one, although it is interesting to note that it's another trio track.

An Adele release in the middle of the streamimg era, every chart watchers dream is finally about to happen. 25 dropped in November 2015, well into the streaming era. Anti dropped 2 months later in January 2016 and Views dropped in April 2016. Streaming has grown since then, but she was always gonna release her new album deep in the streaming era.

I see what you're saying but she was able to release 25 while completely avoiding streaming, I don't think streaming even made up 40% of all consumption in 2015, now it's over 80%. I should've said at the height of streaming instead of middle.

Random fact about the name "Adele": Adele also happens to be Emeli Sande's first name. She was gonna use Adele as her stage name, but Adele Adkins (the singer we know and love today as Adele) had already started performing and releasing music as Adele so Adele Emily Sandé had to stick with Emeli Sandé as her stage name instead.

Retro Hot 100: 2 Years Ago Amazing chart as usual! Two small things: "Friends" and "Glorious" are both at the same position For the blurb about "Mi Gente", it should be Balvin and William's (not Williams') and also the sentence is like missing a verb lol not trying to be nitpicky just wanted to point them out
