with only 1/4 of the year left to go, it's time for a YE update! this one will be the same as the one i did 6 months ago, where i just make it a ballot update on how things stand without giving the actual standings.

-at the moment, under the projected point cutoff, 29 songs have clenched a 2021 YE top 40 position (700 points)
-songs #30-38 are right on the cusp of locking a ye spot in the top 40 (500 or 600 points). however, only one of these will be able to clench it next week. however, they have clenched a top 50 year-end spot under my cutoff projections.
-under the same point cutoff system, 24 songs have passed the projected top 30 cutoff (900 points). 11 songs have passed the projected top 20 cutoff.
-the #1 currently has 2319 points, and the entire top 4 has at least 2000 points. the top 10 has at least 1700 points
-there are 4 #1s that haven't locked a top 40 ye slot. two of these still have the opportunity to do so in the coming weeks, but while the other two are still inside the building top 40 (and are projected to definitely finish inside the top 50 at least), things aren't looking good for those two.

if we were to use the same YE thresholds as 2020's was, then the top 24 would've clenched a top 40 year-end slot, and only the top 17 would've clenched a top 30 position so far

and with all that posted, it's officially time for me to say goodbye to making these charts. i'm pretty sure it was beginning to get obvious that i was getting burned out during the last few months of the year lol. but with so little time to make them anymore and my interest in making these charts fading a lot, i didn't want to force myself to make these. i made a chart every year for the past 3 years, including the interim between me leaving pulse in mid 2018 and rejoining in late 2019 just for my own personal records. if i ever get a reignited interest in making these charts, it'll be a fresh start, with a fresh chart history and everything.
