The surprises keep on coming!!! "As Good As I Once Was" is definitely in the running for being Toby's career-defining hit... This song was such a HUGE hit, it was inescapable back in the mid-00s and for several years thereafter! ...which is why I was semi-generous placing this outside my top 30 tbh.

I'm not talkin' 'bout locking down forever, baby; That would be too demanding. I'm just talkin' bout two lonely people Who might reach a little understanding.

tim proof that ChicaCherry콜라 and I did NOT team up! "I'm Just Talking About Tonight' has one of the most amazing melodies and vocal deliveries, I swear! This was also a #1 contender for me. Everything about it is heaven, Toby slayyyyyed this!

"I'm Just Talkin' About Tonight" is another song I had pegged to miss the top 10 and sure enough there it goes. I had a hunch this might get some lower rankings hence my prediction, but I still really enjoy this even though I consider it to be another one of his hits during this time that has suffered from radio fatigue.

I don't know about y'all, but I am SHOCKED that this song managed to finish as high as it did!!! It feels like quintessential Toby, but it feels like the type of quintessential Toby that would have gone out somewhere closer to the middle of the pack, a la "Who's Your Daddy". That being said, I am not disappointed to see this do so well! It is a very nice surprise. This song is so catchy! It's one of those songs that you really cannot get enough of if you are a fan of it. gonecountry loses his #1 here, but LBTrocks, Cody Wants Out..., and ClevelandRox all joined him in putting it in their top 5. George Strait Junkie and gardyfan both came through with top 10 ranks as well. Overall, the support for this song was very strong. It missing the top 10 just speaks to how well-loved most of the songs that are left are!

She ain't into wine and roses. Beer just makes her turn up her nose, and She can't stand the thought of sippin' champagne. No Cuervo Gold Margaritas. Just ain't enough good burn in Tequila. She needs Somethin' with a little more edge and a little more pain. She's my little whiskey Girl.

Confession: "I'm Just Talkin' About Tonight" would be a go-to karaoke selection for me lol. Infatuated with the chorus melody and it's so. much. fun! Lyrically, it ain't my style, but who cares? ;)

"Whiskey Girl" used to be a jam of mine and I still think it is, but for this or that reason I don't have a strong desire to listen to this much anymore and that's likely due to just plain old overplay. I actually had considered this as one that might miss the top 10 as well but I thought it might end up being one of the surprises to make it in.

I think that "Whiskey Girl" absolutely SLAYS. That chorus melody is literally perfect!! This is a song that is perfect for Toby while always managing to sound completely fresh, which is one of my favorite things about it. Songs like "I Love This Bar", "Courtesy Of The Red, White, And Blue", "As Good As I Once Was", etc. all kinda feel like more of the same from Toby (even though they all slay), whereas this song always manages to stand out to me as being perfect for him yet also unique. Similar to what I said about "God Love Her". It never gets old!
I am sad to see this song leaving now, but I am still so happy it managed to get this far, because I wasn't necessarily expecting that!

ugh so close to a PR!
"Whiskey Girl" has excellent instrumentation. My fav part of the song. Also really love the melody and Toby's vocals. I'm okay with it missing top 10 tho, obviously.

Toby's got a real strong catalog. I really enjoy this song and I'm the lowest ranker at #36. I have no hate for this song, despite how it looks. There's really only 8 of his singles that I don't really care for and most of them are his newer singles.

"He Ain't Worth Missing" is so catchy. Toby really came out strong right out of the gate. This one has unfortunately been a little overshadowed by the other two huge hits from his debut, but this one is right up there alongside them in terms of quality! I am okay seeing this miss the top 10, but tbh I kinda expected it might sneak in just because who would hate this song?

Well that was not expected at all and I really thought it was at least going to make it into the first couple of spots in the top 10. Although I hadn't really thought about this is somewhat reminiscent of "Does That Blue Moon Ever Shine On You" and I'm sure I just happen to be drawn into this type of early production sound from Toby. Either way I love this song and it's one that I still hear on the radio frequently.

Who the eff knew that both Dream Walkin' and We Were In Love would make the Top 10.
Really surprised that I Wanna Talk About Me made the top 10. It's a fun tune, but a bit of a novelty to me.
This is a solid Top 10, minus the "I'm Just Talking About Tonight" omission.
This is going to be painful.

We got too many gangsters doing dirty deeds. Too much corruption, and crime in the streets. It's time the long arm of the law put a few more in the ground. Send 'em all to their maker and he'll settle 'em down. You can bet he'll settle 'em down.

Finally. I like the chorus of "Beer For My Horses" fine but find Willie Nelson so dreadful that I have no desire to purposely revisit this song.

Wow, look at all those top 15 votes!!! "Beer For My Horses" was the RUNAWAY #1 contender for most of the submissions process. Unfortunately most of the non-top-15 votes came towards the end of the submission process, so once this fell out of #1, it had one gigantic tumble almost completely out of the top 10!
This song slays, and is definitely quintessential Toby. I was not sure what to expect from it here, but tbh #10 feels just about right. There are certainly better songs still left that I am glad still have a shot to win!

We talk about your dreams and we talk about your schemes, Your high school team and your moisturizer cream. We talk about your nanna up in Muncie, Indiana. We talk about your grandma down in Alabama. We talk about your guys of every shape and size, The ones that you despise and the ones you idolize. We talk about your heart, about your brains and your smarts, And your medical charts, and when you start... You know talking about you makes me grin, But every now and then. I want to talk about me!
