This rankdown made me absolutely obsessed with White Lies. I've already dove in and listened to almost all of their albums now. I'm in love. "Farewell to the Fairground" is awesome. I'm sad it missed the top 10. that debut album is flawless & FttF is the hidden gem, just as good as TLML & Death

20. Weapon of Choice - Black Rebel Motorcycle ClubThis was good, but didn't strike me as Top 20 material. Good vocals tho. 19. Somewhere to Hide - Shiny Toy GunsA few of the songs on the list are songs I actually charted too. Such a banging 80's chorus. The whole thing feels 80's. 18. Fast to the End - ThursdayThis song barely makes the half of songs that I liked. It had decent vocals. maybe a bit too Deftones in vocals for me. 17. Noticed - MutemathFirst time listen. The faster beats made me like it more than usual. The chorus took it to another level. It is what it is. An indierock bop. 16. Make It Wit Chu - Queens of the Stone AgeGood song. The vocals take it to the good level for me. 15. Loud Pipes- RatatatI expected something loud. What I got was a run of the mill guitar oriented instrumental with piss poor percussion f-fex. BTW it sounds even worse with vocals. 14. Ever (Foreign Flag) - Team SleepThis was one of the most boring songs on this RD. Not the worst but the most vocally dead. No ups and downs at all. The wannabe Billy Corgan vocals didn't impress me either. I know who Chino is, but didn't impress me one bit. 13. Waiting... - City and ColourBOOOOOOOOOR F U C K ing ING. I feel like I have ADD when songs like this appear. I was waiting for something to happen...... it never did. 12. Sea Within a Sea - The HorrorsI like some Horrors song, but this one tuned me out with the melody. Once in a blue moon is alright I guess. 11. Farewell to the Fairground - White LiesEasily a song I would put in my top 5. Can we all agree? This is melody/vocals and percussion on fire.

THE TOP 10: Anberlin - The Feel Good Drag Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies) Bloc Party - Hunting for Witches Crosses - Telepathy Cut Copy - Lights & Music Interpol - Obstacle 1 Metric - Gimme Sympathy New Order - Crystal Silversun Pickups - Growing Old is Getting Old The Black Queen - Ice to Never • Any surprises making or missing the top 10?Pleasantly surprised "Ice To Never" made it , but i'm still amazed nothing from Davey Havok made top 20. • Any predictions on the winner? Anything but "Feel Good Drag". It's a great song, but are we this predictable? I prefer Bloc Party fire or Metric. I would bust a musical nut if female vocals won the rank down. • My #1 is still around. Any guesses? The Black Queen - Ice to Never. .I feel like it s all the best 80's New Wave sounds rolled into one.

Hi all! Reveals for the top 10 will take place next Monday, so December 2nd. I unfortunately don't have time to spend on reveals this weekend, so I'll be seeing you all on Monday, probably around the range of 7-8PM EST.

Alright, time to get this wrapped up. Let's reveal the top 10!
I won't say much about the rankings distribution of #10, but I'll say this much: it has one two three #1s. This song simply floated around the same range of rankings for the entire process, although it did crack the top 5 at one point. All of its non-top 20 rankings (4) are bottom 10s, with a single bottom 5.

Two bottom tens remaining, and I expected one of them, for sure. The other, less so, but I expect it to go out early in the top ten. Well, here's the latter. I tried so, so hard to get into this song more than I did. It's a solid song, but I really, REALLY wanted to like it more.

#9 is pretty remarkable for two reasons: first, it spent the entire process inside the top 10. Second, it actually spent one list at #1 around the middle of the process, although the following list, it was immediately punted down to #7.
Eight top 10s are lost, including four top 5s. If you've been keeping track, the streak of consecutive rankings with someone losing a #1 is active: well here, someone is losing their #1 for the sixth reveal in a row. There's a shrinking amount of bottom 5s lying around, but two will be shed here, as they are part of this song's four bottom 10s.

Hey, want a good indication of how tough this rankdown was to rank? How about this song being in my bottom half?
I would not have expected Greg Puciato to be in my bottom half outside of one of my rankdowns.

#8 spent multiple lists at #1, on separate occasions to boot. Unfortunately, some severe ranks nearly dropped it out of the top 15 afterwards before a surge on the final day brought it back inside the top 10.
Nearly half the participants (10) ranked this song inside the top 10, with six top 5s! We're also losing four more bottom 10s here. And you guessed right! AGAIN, at least one person is losing their #1 here.

I'm fully aware this is not a "classic" song by this band, but it's a personal favourite of mine. To me, this is near perfection in terms of balancing a driving guitar riff with great synth work. To make it better, the bassline is just as powerful as the riff itself. Of course, it's got one particularly cringey lyric... you know what I'm talking about right? But surely, it's forgiven by the quality of the hook and of the instrumentation. My condolences, Zach . Congrats on clearing your bottom 10s... #7 is tied with #6. It was pretty unifying as it represents the 6th lowest standard deviation. We're finally not losing a #1 here, also. All but three participants ranked this song inside their top 20, with nine top 10s, but only two of those ranked this song top 5. After a slow-ish start, this song was very consistent and mostly hung around the middle of the top 10.

This was a very difficult song for me to rank. I realize that it's objectively at least a good song, but I just could not get into it beyond that fact. I've had time to get into it, too, believe me...since the New Order Pulse Top 10s, in fact. They have made way better songs than this. And on that note, Red avoiding all of the hate being directed his way

As much as I like Team Sleep, I've always connected to Crosses more. "The Epilogue" would have been in my top five (or higher), but "Telepathy" is really good, too, and I'm glad to see it do well.

The winner of the tie, #6, boasts eight top 10s, of which a significant six are also top 5s - and several are high. Just two bottom 10s are observed, and neither of them are particularly low.
Oh, and this also spent some time at #1, although not for very long.

I wonder if "Hunting for Witches" would be more fondly remembered if it was on the debut. It certainly would be talked about more, that's for sure.
Petty damn good song, at any rate, even though I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's on the level of "Banquet"/"Helicopter"/"Like Eating Glass".

Silent Alarm was one of my childhood favorites and I'll always love it. The rest is eh. But this is probably A Weekend In The City's best song

#5 is another top 10 constant. A whopping ten top 10s will be gone following this reveal, with four top 5s. Someone will be losing their #1, too. Only three bottom 5s are still hanging around these parts; we'll be getting rid of at least one with this reveal.

This Modern Love is probably somewhere in my top 10-20 songs ever, so it's pretty safe to say I'm a big fan of Bloc Party. Hunting for Witches isn't an exception to this
