I’m surprised this hasn’t done anything at Urban? I know it’s very pop leaning but if songs like “Super Bass” and “Truth Hurts” worked there, then this should be able to do something at least.

I’m surprised this hasn’t done anything at Urban? I know it’s very pop leaning but if songs like “Super Bass” and “Truth Hurts” worked there, then this should be able to do something at least. There’s a more aggressive approach in those songs, whereas Say So is relatively soft - enhancing its more dominant pop appeal. To me, it has a heavy Janet/AFY feel. SS would be a huge outlier among urban playlists. When they do take on female singers, it definitely tends to lean heavy R&B. I would like to say I came to check out this very thread once I didn’t see it on Urban, but it didn’t surprise me too much.

It's a little bizarre because her base before this was Urban radio, and now they aren't touching her biggest hit to date. It's not like a Lizzo situation where she broke out on Pop before crossing over to Urban. Doja has already had success on Urban. The format has already seen much more pop leaning songs than this at least go Top 20 on Urban. If "Yummy" could do it , this should have no problem. Did the label even try?

At one point, Like That f/Gucci had its own urban adds date in February separate from Say So release. But that’s been abandoned thus far.

yeah, while this is obviously a better fit for pop and rhythmic, there's no excuse for Yummy and fucking Latch going top 15 there when this hasn't even charted.

And Arizona Zervas is no urban to me, but charting well there. Urban is kinda missing opportunities for themselves as well as for Doja Cat. Seriously I want to ask: what is wrong with you Urban radio, do you only want Lil Lil Drake Lil Baby Lil Lil ***** Drakebaby's Lil Baby?

This girl is going to be one of the biggest musical acts of the 2020’s. Besides the fact she can sing AND rap equally as well, she has the X factor most young mainstream artists are SEVERELY lacking nowadays. Is she the absolute best rapper and singer of all time? Absolutely not. But she’s still pretty decent and has a personality/delivery that is unique to her and catches people’s attention. Her persona is very modern and in touch with Gen Z so I can see that taking her really far. Not to mention she’ll essentially be the black Katy Perry considering she gave Dr Luke his first real hit in years, and no one seems to care in the same way people eviscerated Kim Petras for working with him. The fact she’s also extremely attractive is an extra bonus as well.
Needless to say, this is one of my favorite pop songs in YEARS. The guitars, beat, melody, and her voice is such a great combination. She’s been trying to break through for years so I’m happy to see her finally catch on the way she deserves to

Every performance I’ve seen of her, she can’t sing live. I’m not hating cuz I absolutely love this song. If someone wants to show me a performance where she sings well, I’d love to see it cuz I really want her to be big.
