I really like this one. It takes me back to 90s Mariah. This is the first track from "Me. I Am Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse". It was described by Billboard magazine as being one of the album's most "heaviest moments," lyrically the song discusses Mariah's desire to hold a lover until they both start "bawling.

Not one of the standouts, but I like it. She has a lot of ballads in this vein starting with "Petals" on Rainbow (they remind me of Stevie Wonder ballads with her own twist).. the general structure, melody, etc. is very Mariah (and not the kind of ballads she's known for her since she doesn't release them as singles).

Very emotional, sincere song. I used to live this song. And it always takes me back to that specific time. A very unusual, yet great nonetheless, album opener for her. I love it. I'm a sucker for a Mariah sweeping ballad ("Till The End of Time," "Just To Hold You Once Again"...) but I love it just as much when she does piano ballads that are sparsely produced (this, "Out Here On My Own," "Portrait," "Can You Hear Me"...).

When I first heard MIAM I was stunned by this opener. She rarely opens albums with ballads, and had never opened an album with this kind of ballad.
My favorite part was her return to ad-libs that are whole new lines in the song. "I should've known that you were tired of me" in particular is a gut punch, but also "I guess it's selfish of me to just expect that I'm entitled to have you."
