Very surprised that there is no thread for this. I remember my mom thinking how the song sounded so stupid. lol This was released as the second single from "E=MCΒ²" on April 15, 2008. Though expected by critics to have surely become Mariah's 19th chart-topping single in the United States, following the success of "Touch My Body", the track only managed to reach a peak position of #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and at #33 on the R&B chart. In the other countries the song achieved relatively weak charting, peaking within the top ten in New Zealand, and the top-fifty in Canada, Ireland, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom.

The worst single decision she's made in her entire career. I saw it derailing her comeback from a mile away.. and even stupider because she had other songs on the album that actually sounded like big hits.
This was like when you're low on shampoo, so you add water to the bottle to try to use up those last bits.. she was low on the "One Sweet Day" and "We Belong Together" shampoo.. and left the shower with dirty hair. Pandering at its worst.

One of her worst singles, such a bad decision. The production is so cheap and basic. The pre-chorus and verses are kind of pretty though. That's about the only positive thing I can say.

Terrible, terrible single. She released "Bye Bye" and waved her winning streak "bye bye" with it. The song itself isn't even good either.

I could see this being a hit in the 90s since the melancholic memorial songs were the wave. Her label dropped the ball with this one.

I actually kind of like it, lol. What I enjoy most are the vocals from 3:27 to the end-they're very emotive and some of her best post-TEOM.
Although it was the wrong single choice ("Migrate" should've been released second), I can't entirely blame her team for choosing it because I remember a couple of reviews saying it was a highlight.

The video has 99.82 million views and will pass 100 million views within 2-3 days: One of her worst singles, such a bad decision. The production is so cheap and basic. The pre-chorus and verses are kind of pretty though. That's about the only positive thing I can say. Yeah the verses and pre-chorus are easily the best parts, and it's kind of mind-boggling she ruined the song with the unemotional "bye bye" parts and the tacky "This is for me peoples..." part.

13 years ago today, "Bye Bye" by Mariah Carey peaked at No.19 for the second time on its eighth week on the Hot 100. It originally reached the same peak position on its fifth week. The song spent 12 weeks on the chart.

It's a decent song, but Migrate should have had its spot - not releasing Migrate as a single was RIDICULOUS. She had 4 chances to do it!

The song is just okay for me. But the decision to pick it as a single, the reasoning, the sequence of events surrounding it, just makes me hate the song.

What official remixes were done for this one? The only remix officially released on any single/promo is the So So Def one with Jay-Z. Allegedly there were club mixes done by Al B Rich, Tony Moran/Warren Rigg, Dusty O and Firesigns. Also another Urban remix with Akon/Lil Wayne. But none of those were officially released and were circulated on unofficial promos, so those mixes could be fake.
