when did RHCPs last chart? they’ve been on the charts since ‘84, certainly the record for longevity I’m assuming you’re talking about alternative here. RHCP has been making music since 1984 but since the Billboard alt chart wasn’t made until 1988, they hadn’t actually charted there until 1989. Their first number 1 was in 1991 and their most recent was in 2016. Beck holds the current record for longest time taken between number ones (12 years, 8 months and 2 weeks) from 2005 to 2017. Since The Killers last hit number one in 2006, they will have broken that record.

they did chart on CMJ, Gavin & Hard Report (amongst other) Alternative Tracks charts - maybe those are unofficial, but they did chart in ‘84

still a bit salty about The Man being blocked from #1, but this reaching the top and taking the record from Beck's overrated ass almost makes up for it. aaaand she's showing early signs of crossing over...

http://instagram.com/p/B_OACh5FjvN Would be cool to see this hit #1. Would that break the record of longest gap between consecutive #1s? I'm not even sure who holds it now, I think Jane's Addiction still? If Blink-182 or Modest Mouse didn't steal it Beck, between E-Pro and Up All Night They also broke Beck's record, so I guess The Man missing out wasn't that bad?

Yep. It’s official. They needed a solid 13 years & 6 months to get this to the top on Billboard!! It’s also apparently the quickest ascent to the top since CtE with “Ready To Let Go” last year, a distinction which TØP will likely usurp after this gets its time in.

It’s starting to get sort of irksome that so many artists are delaying their new music. I understand that touring is an essential source of artists’ major income, and right now concerts are far from a viable endeavor, but people still want new music to stream, not to mention all the preordered merch lord knows how many people were hyped about (although commodities like physical pressing are probably considered nonessential anyways) I know that was the case for me with the new Weezer, but, I’m excited for them to deliver no matter what.

SO proud to be a stan right now. Even Fire In Bone has grown on me (I just don't really like the noisy sound effects that completely disrupt and take me out of the song). They chose the perfect song to kick off the era and a few of the other songs I have heard are strong as well.

Maybe they have another week on top before Twenty One Pilots take over?

Fire in Bone and Caution are absolutely incredible. On par with their latest album in which I was literally hooked for months.

This is what I hate about fast rising #1 songs. Once you hit the top you only have one way to go. Down. Also that Twenty One Pilots song is bound to F u C K up this song's reign.

Picked up 18 adds on HAC, so I think this will do some damage over there.
I think it can hold off "Level of Concern" for 2 weeks, possibly 3. Its bullet is triple digits, so "Level of Concern" isn't gaining as much as it looks. Eventually the inevitable will occur, but "Caution" is a strong tune and I don't think getting supplanted on Alternative is going to hurt its crossover prospects much.

Looks like they won't get the Billboard AAA #1 considering that Major Lazer has passed them there. The reverse happened with The Man when that missed the Billboard Alt #1. BUT. FOR THIS TO MISS THE #1 BY ONE SPIN???

Currently at 24th at Hot AC, and will be going for CHR adds on June 16th. If "Caution" takes off on CHR this may wind up becoming another "High Hopes" or "broken" in terms of longevity on the chart.

Wow, this might be the first actual alternative rock crossover hit in years. Ever since “Come With Me Now”, alternative crossovers began to become much less prevalent. 2015 had quite a few alternative crossovers but they were all alt-pop. Since 2016, it seems rock has been all but absent from the Hot 100. It would be great for The Killers to get a pop hit this year.

I’ve been rooting for this since I found out that news via the HAC thread. This is one of the last bands I’d expect CHR to take a chance on at this stage but similar scenarios have happened to Weezer and the aforementioned P!ATD. I seriously hope they can eek out at least one more crossover with this because it’s one of the absolute finest works from a more-than-consistent band.

This is being sent to top 40 radio on Monday.
I believe this is the first time they’ve sent a song to top 40 since the day and age era in 2008
