This should have been released as a single instead of "Mr. Wrong"! It's a much stronger song, IMO. Definitely one of the standouts from "My Life II". It was originally written for Beyoncé's fourth studio album 4 (2011), but Beyonce felt that it did not fit with the sound she had created for her album, and she thought that it would be better if she recorded it as a duet with Mary instead.
The song peaked at #89 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and spent three weeks in total on that ranking. It also peaked at #50 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs chart.

I loved this. It would have smashed at Urban AC. I remember it getting a decent amount of unsolicited airplay at the time.

Wise choice leaving it as an album track. I like new music from both artists but this was not it. There’s something about Beyoncé collaborating with females on their albums that doesn’t work just like the train wreck that was Put It in a Love Song.

I actually remember reading and being surprised that they never went into the studio together for this. Beyoncé simply rejected this for 4 and when Mary got her hands on it she put her vocals on top of Bey’s and tacked it on her album as a duet.
Anyway, I really like the song and think it would’ve made a good single, although I rarely listen to it these days.

Kinda mind-blowing to me this wasn't sent to UAC, it would have SMASHED. The bridge is so ridiculously good.
