funny you mentioned the Italian CCCP, because when I saw this list I was excited to be ranking a song by them. I realized my mistake soon after pressing Play

#40: "Swear" - Tim Scott Truth be told I really love this song. Way too much good music in this list of songs. Reminded me of a bit of Andy Taylor solo material. Sheena Easton cover: Just as juicy only difference is it had female vocals. Sheena is another non blonde that got my musical heart pumpin'.
#39: "Cowpunk" - Scott Goddard One of those type songs where I didn't mind the corniness too much. I also didn't mind the elektro effix. What was that sound? Sounded like lasers. Surf Punks "My Beach" . It was decent beach punk music but the vocals were hard to digest.
#38: "Fanatic" - Felony Normally I would put this one in my top 10. It even made my top 100 of that particular year. I also had the 45 because it was a great song to jump around to during my grade school years. I underranked it hard to make room for those really quirky classics. The Flirts - Jukebox (Don't Put Another Dime). Anyone who knows Bobby 'O' and Hi-NRG knows who this band is. "Passion" "Danger" etc... I love this song. This one had a perfect Valley Girl sound to it, and still written by Bobby 'O'.
#37: "American Soviets" - CCCP This was a first time listen for me. The music was pretty cool, I just didn't fully get mesh with its particular vibe. "Don't Kill The Rainforrest". I think I might like this one better? Cool Dark Wave vibe.
#36: "Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight" - Dominatrix Obviously I'm one of two members who remember this being a big club banger. My cousins were spinning this one way into the 80's at the Latin NRG discos. Video banned on MTV. No wonder I never saw it before. MTV was so bias to Heavy Metal. Funny how they would ban this one , but totally play Helix "Heavy Metal Love" or W.A.S.P.- "Love Machine". Not complaining tho. MTV single handedly took Glam Metal to the heights. The Blue Bonnets song was a nice fun banger. It sounded more 90's than 80's.

It probably did better in my rankings (#2) because I knew the Sheena Easton version. I can understand why my #4 Wunderbar left early, despite it also being catchy as hell. The song made me want to drink bear with 25 of my closest friends and then pillage a city or two.

#34: "Land Of Hunger" - Earons (309 pts) - stdev: 12.72
Released: 1984 Chart Peak: #1 Dance
Hailing from Tampa, this band was clearly inspired by Sun Ra's cosmic mythology (despite failing to name-drop him in their interview above). Always wearing helmets (long before Daft Punk), they chose to be anonymous using the names .18, .22, .28, .33, & .69. Check them out being interviewed by Nina Blackwood (which i vividly remember seeing as a kid - i mean, how could you forget something like that?) I had forgotten the band name & didn't hear this song again until just a few years ago when i was researching the Dance chart #1 songs.

#35: "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" - Specimenfelt like a first time listen, had all the right New Wave ingredients, and sounded a bit like underground dark wave. easy top 20 for me. Needless to say I didn't care for that Time Lords songs at all. #34: "Kiss Me" - Tin Tin Here is another 80's KROQ classic. I thought I would put this one a lot higher. It started off in my top 10 and soon free fell after I heard the other songs on the list. Lilac Time sounded like a song I would upgrade if it shows up in another of these type rank downs. #33: "Computer Games" - Mi-Sex...and yet another one that started off high on my list. It had a strong Devo vibe ,and I even have this on 45'. At least I almost got a P-P-P-P perfect rank. Mi-Sex - People. Another great sounding song. Had that early 80's style of bands like The Tubes. #32: "Land Of Hunger" - EaronsTrippy song that I remembered all too well. It appears on one of my old Italo Disco cassettes. Iterview: Gotta love bands who stay in character. When they first started Kiss never broke character. Always referring themselves by their cosmic personals. They broke all character once they became glamour rock stars.

#31: "Din Daa Daa" - George Kranz I tired hard to feel this groove, but the vocal effix tuned me off. The music was cool tho. Flo Rida. I don't have to listen to this to know what I feel. . This guy ripped off/ "sampled" Dead Or Alive's melody and turned into a travesty. 'nuff said.

Since The first time I heard that I wrote that Flo-Rida guy off forever. I didn't even click on "Turn Around". I already knew what to expect.

#30: "Lawnchairs" - Our Daughter's WeddingThis song had a cool DEVO like intro, and a pretty cool New Wave sound all around, so No way I put this at #48, so I checked my list and guess what? I put it at #15. I wonder if that would change it's rank at all? #29: "Burning Car" - John FoxxThis had a much darker mood and the vocals didn't really hypnotize me. It felt like an incomplete Gary Numan song. Now that I look closer what does that # next to our name mean. It's not that rank we gave the song is it? Other wise you might be confusing a lot of my rankings with someone else. "Lawnchairs" - Our Daughter's Wedding 48 Doc Indie Party Rock

don't worry guys, after the corrections to this (& a handful of other misrankings for Doc), the changes are fairly small...making corrections now on the songs already revealed... Albie & Mirago will be happy to know this correction pulls Total Coelo up a spot & out of the bottom 10 the biggest changes were 2 songs (Fanatic & Computer Games) improving by 3 spots. No other song moved up or down more than 2 spots. The top 3 & bottom 3 standard deviations did not change & miraculously, the top 27 (those songs yet to be revealed) did not change all updates have been made to the songs revealed so far (including awarding 2 additional PPPPPs...although more than that had to be revoked)

well, that brings us to the half-way point...any songs that you are surprised to see make the top half or miss the top half?
our next set of songs will feature FIVE songs that are among the Top 10 standard deviations, including the MOST divisive song of all...any guesses as to what that will be?
