I was out of the country last week, so this is my first update in two weeks. Hence the "Last Week" is actually 2 weeks ago, and the "Gain" is the total increase in points over 2 weeks.
For the week of March 7, 2020, here's how the top 100 of the year currently looks using my methodology. As Memories and SYL slip out of the top 10, The Box should quickly gain ground in the next couple of weeks. I don't think anything will knock The Box out of #1 for at least a month. And with each additional week at #1 my algorithm applies more and more points. But I don't foresee Circles losing #1 for quite a while if at all. It's extremely steady and still doing terrifically on Radio which will likely keep it on the charts for the full 52+ weeks.
Harry Styles may be having the biggest solo hit of his career. It just keeps creeping up the charts. At this point, I'm sure anything with 1700+ points will make the year-end charts, but with the dearth of middling hits, that could sink to anything +1500. Either way I Don't Care should make the top 100.

I forgot I didn't do this all week smh. Let me get it in real quick before the new chart comes.
Potential Repeats from the 2019 Year-End List: Week 16 (March 7, 2020):
LOCKED Circles Someone You Loved Senorita No Guidance Truth Hurts Trampoline bad guy Panini Only Human
VERY LIKELY N/A
LIKELY N/A
POSSIBLE I Don't Care
UNLIKELY Sucker
VERY UNLIKELY N/A
OUT: Truth Hurts *guaranteed to repeat*
If you're tired of the 2 stragglers like I am then the good news is that it looks like they're FINALLY on their way out for good now. There's still a slight possibility for IDC to sneak in there should it survive this coming week but it and Sucker's shots of repeating have been drastically reduced thanks to our lord and savior BABY PLUTO!!!

if I Don’t Care survives the double album bomb, it looks like it’s gonna be in the same situation that See You Again was in 2016 in that it was a leftover from the previous year where there’s literally about a half-and-half chance as to whether it will repeat by barely sneaking onto the YE

As a general rule of thumb, how many weeks do songs that peak lower (20-30) need to make the year end

^Generally speaking, I think they would have a very good chance if they manage to get to 20 weeks in the Hot 100.

As a general rule of thumb, how many weeks do songs that peak lower (20-30) need to make the year end It depends if they spend most of their chart run in the Top 40 or hang around the bottom half a lot

^Of course that matters as well. I was citing the most general case. A song particular chart run would need to be evaluated even if it gets to 20 weeks.

using my inverse point system, here's where each song that has dropped out this year so far would place on my 2019 YE predictions
HIGHEST IN THE ROOM: #65 All I Want for Christmas Is You (assuming it doesn't return in the last few weeks of the chart year): #66 Trampoline: #71 Truth Hurts: #71 Bandit: #83 Panini: #83 Only Human: #83 Hot: #85 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree: #91 (just like #66 for AIWFCIY, this is virtually impossible) Even Though I'm Leaving: #94 I Don't Care: #102

Suicidal took a huge hit this week. Uzi’ll likely wipe it off the charts next week.

Oh my God "Trampoline" expected to be #71, then it was #70 last year?!?! Imagine if this happened!!!
If you're wondering how I got that projected 2020 year end number for Trampoline, this is the system I use using 2019's year end as a base.
#1-3: 10,000+ Points (+2,500 Points Per Position) #4-5: 9,000 To 9,999 Points (+500 Points Per Position) #6-30: 4,000 To 8,999 Points (+200 Points Per Position) #31-70: 2,400 To 3,999 Points (+40 Points Per Position) #70-80: 2,200 To 2,399 Points (+20 Points Per Position) #80-85: 2,000 To 2,199 Points (+40 Points Per Position) #86-100: 1,700 To 1,999 Points (+20 Points Per Position)
Putting this into practice, I'm going to project some charting songs' positions if they get knocked out by Lil Uzi Vert's album bomb this week.
Good As Hell: #44
No Guidance: #61
Senorita: #61 (This was just 1 point short of No Guidance, so I had to give it the same projected position.)
One Man Band: #80
Kinfolks: #100
If you're wondering about songs that would just miss, I also have a system to calculate that. I will put up a few examples to demonstrate.
#101-120: 1,500 To 1,699 Points (+10 Points Per Position)
I Don't Care: #109
Suicidal: #113 (Assuming Lil Uzi Vert's album bomb kills this song this week.)

How many total points does HIGHEST IN THE ROOM have across both years? Under my calculations, it has a total of 3831 points, which would have put it at a projected position of #35 on 2019 or 2020's year end lists.

How many total points does HIGHEST IN THE ROOM have across both years? I have it at #32 for songs that peaked in 2019 on my "complete" list of songs that peaked in 2019. I don't think there's anything left from 2019 that will overtake it. Link

I hope "Circles" breaks the top 10 record, just so it's no longer associated with that "Girls Like You" snoozefest.
"Sunflower" and "Shape Of You" fully deserved it, though, but "Circles" is proving to be a longevity monster, especially given how radio kept reviving it (and it was quite successful on streaming as well).

The Music Guy in the Group That's alright, it happens - especially when everyone is raving so much about said song. I felt the same way about "Uptown Funk!", for instance, where the overplay really hindered my enjoyment for some good years. I later came to appreciate its strong production and fun braggadocious attitude and lyrics. I still think it's a bit overrated, but I do like it nonetheless. You might come around to it once the hype dies down, and even if you don't, that's fine! We're all entitled to our different opinions, and maybe the song just doesn't click for you.
