I’m still holding out on the signed autographed CD’s and other physical sales that are more difficult to track before I write off Heartless’ chances completely. The points are super close. Tomorrow should be a interesting.

Even though that song wasn't released as a single right away.

So does this guarantee Mariah at least two weeks at #1? And can she get to the top as soon as next week (12/21)? I think her numbers were strong last week because it included Black Friday. Obviously she will be consistent until Xmas, but can she increase dramatically for the next 3 weeks?

Two things could affect Mariah getting to or keeping #1.
- The new Taylor Swift Christmas song, although that seems unlikely based on not showing on the Spotify charts.
- If posthumous sales of Juice WRLD tracks center on a specific track.
I'd like to see Lucid Dreams come back and reach #1. It's already in the top 50 on iTunes. Apparently, Sting gets an obscene 85% of the writing royalties from that song because it interpolates a couple of bars from his song An Englishman In New York. And then I'd like to see Sting donate those royalties to an opioid-abuse charity or whatever will have been found to have killed Juice.

Swift isn't any threat, and it's not just due to Spotify.

Don't think T-Swift will be a big threat. If we take a look at what happened with "Sad" when XXX passed -- he jumped from 52 to 1. Then he fell to No. 2 the following week, then No. 10 after that. So if Lucid Dreams or another Juice Wrld track does become a rallying point for fans, perhaps that's a comparable chart run. It'd be nice if there was a re-emergence of him in the top level of the charts. I thought he was really talented and had a lot of great music in front of him.

Gonna throw this out there ... Does anyone think there's a chance "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree" can actually outpace AIWFCIY at some point? It's a closer gap than I thought there might be between those songs.

Idk why so many Mariah fans saw Taylor's one-off Christmas song as a threat to a song that has been around for 25 years and is now one of the holiday staples to begin with (maybe over-sensitivity with it going #1 this year Idk). Christmas music is rarely if ever an out-of-the-gate, instant huge hit, regardless of the artist, and few of them even hit big to begin with (I mean even Mariah herself couldn't craft another after "AIWFCIY").

It's a closer gap than I thought there might be between those songs. Of course anything is possible, but "AIWFCIY" is ahead in sales and streaming every year, and it's usually ahead in airplay. I am not sure the gap is as close as you are contending? There are certainly events that could happen to propel Brenda's song ahead, though. I'd love for Ariana to promote Santa Tell Me and have it block Mariah (or they both hit the top lol) Maybe a new video or better a new version either maybe a Classic edition or (yall be like *yawn*) a remix Imagine if she releases Santa Tell Me (ft. Mariah Carey) next Friday The internet would explode! And Mariah could score her 19th and 20th #1 hits back to back Just a stupid thought

His first Number One was in January 1970 and the last was 1995. So if ALWFCIY is #1 dec-jan, then she would be the first artist to have #1's in four decades 90s to 20s Oh I thought "I Want You Back" was in 1969, my bad. "I Want You Back" entered the Hot 100 in late 1969 but didn't peak at #1 until January 31st, 1970.

It's not just a "these days" problem. Tactics have been used to manipulate the charts since the 50s. Like payola, or did you think that was just a modern practice? Look up the payola scandals of the 50's to see that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

With these tragic recent developments it seems like the decade may end with Juice WRLD as the last #1. That would be an immense tragedy. The 2010's have already suffered enough. Dude, time and place. A man just died who was by all accounts a good person, maybe save the opinions on his art for a few more weeks?

Maybe it's different for people who literally can't remember a time when AIWFCIY wasn't already around.

Calling "All I Want For Christmas Is You" a "cultural behemoth" while essentially downplaying the significance of a song that has been out TWICE as long (65 years) for being a mere 6 positions beneath it, with that gap surely to close. "RATCT" isn't "just kinda there", it has enough cultural significance to experience annual seasonal success along with "AIWFCIY" and has the potential to repeak nearly 65 years after its release. It is a staple and quite the feat.
